What is Luis Suarez worth?

Factoring in his age, I wouldn't expect him to go nearer the £100m mark. Unless of course it's to a rival.
He's slap bam in the middle of his prime as a footballer. Zidane was bought for 75 million euros eons ago and he was 29 years old. Zlatan went for loads of dosh and he was of a similar age. Its a simple case of prime fee for prime player.

Plus he's only 27 and he isn't a player who relies on pace.

He's going to stay though and he'll give us one more year to finally win it. Then who knows.

FFP is a huge thing in relation to his price. And he is not soo young anymore. 27 1/2 in the summer. Bale was 24 for his first season at Real. Cant see anyone bid more then 80 this summer.
Interesting too: would he want to leave?
Liverpool is a big name in the history but in the moment there are some club 1 and 2 levels above them.
Next season Chelsea will be stronger, United, Arsenal probably, even City have made a strong team before FFP. And in europe you got others to these teams.
If they dont win the title(some money between 1st and 2nd) I see a 50:50 chance that he will leave.

It doesnt look like Real have any interest. Usually by May they have really unsettled a big money target.

He would be fantastic for Real. I don't think he's played particularly well lately though. Usually, his touch is phenomenal, but it's a bit erratic these last few weeks, and he still has that big game ghost hanging over his shoulder. Comparing him to Ronaldo at United is unfair as Ronaldo was much younger. I would say that realistically, he's worth 60m pounds or so. He's that level below Messi and Ronaldo, which puts him in or about the same bracket as Bale (although I think he's better), and he's a bit older. Bale was overpriced anyhow.

It's a good thing he doesn't rely on pace - he would be shocking. I always find it funny when he tries to run past players; he's just not fast, although he is quick off the mark. His balance is amazing though, and he's so, so strong - put on a lot of muscle, has he?

No less than £60 million and it's Real or nobody. It all depends on if they make a serious offer. They can get £25-£30 million for Benzema and buy Suarez. Benzema has played well this season and there is still a level he can go up too. He may end up staying due to the Zidane connection.

They probably need another striker anyhow. Morata isn't at the required level yet, and thus they don't have anybody for that position. Ronaldo isn't a striker.

I think 60 million is the upper price for Suarez given his age

If he was 22 he'd be worth Cristiano/Bale money

I think he'll stay for another season given the CL involvement

I think Morata is a fan favourite, he actually needs more pitch time, he can become a very good player. Ancelotti should let him play more against the weaker teams. No way they can keep both (Suarez and Benzema), one player won't be happy with their playing time.

I don't think he will leave - but he could reach the point where he feels he needs to go to a better club to be guaranteed medals (and by better I am talking about one of the 2 spanish clubs who can afford him as I don't see him leaving for an english club). He turned 27 in january - and he knows he has 2-3 seasons left before interest from the bigger clubs will start to fade due to his age

You're right - keeping Suarez and Benzema happy would be nigh on impossible in that set-up, much like it is very difficult in United to keep playing RVP and Rooney... Too similar players in the same position, or you force them to play out of their position.

A lot of rumours are saying that Zidane is off to manage Bordeaux, to gain some experience before one day taking the top job at Real.

Anything around £60 million is fair price.I believe Real Madrid or Barca can go for him, would be ideal for both.

I can't see him leaving. Not this summer anyway. If he performs really well in the CL next season and he feels like he can't win anything with Liverpool then someone will probably come in and take him. Though by then he'd be 28 so the fee wouldn't be huge (although it would still be big).

Didn't know where to put this video, just saw it.

It's been recently uploaded on youtube and has young Suarez as well as Modrić and Mandžukić.

Remember that match, great game and Suarez was manace throught the match but couldn't beat Georg Koch, long story short- crazy but brilliant German. :D

Didn't expect him to go this far as a player, was more impressed with Modrić at the time as he was attacking midfielder then, and Mandžukić really improved himself also.

Oh and Stam played one of his worst matches I've seen him play, he was on his last legs, easily beaten to the ball and with no energy, Tadić made runs at him and that striker was beyond terrible

Thank feck for that but it had a lot to do with him being moved to accommodate Sturridge as the main striker.

Sorry for quoting, I only wanted to quote the Liverpool responses seeing as they were so sure of it.

Never mind mate. The cnuts lost it at the end. Quote me all you like, its a happy day specially considering the position they were in going into the Chelsea game.

31 in 32 games actually. Came damn close.
I have 31 in 33 games started in the PL. You're conveniently excluding his 4 FA Cup and League cup games, in which he scored none. It's indeed 31 goals in 37 games for Liverpool this season, which is still exceptional.

Did he beat Ronaldo's record? Looks like he didn't.
Just checked Ronnie's stats for that season: he scored 31 for 31 games started + 3 games when he came on as a sub (so 31 for 34 in the Prem). He also scored 3 goals for 3 FA Cup games, and 9 goals for 13 CL games. Overall, in 50 games for us that season, he scored 43.

Ronaldo scored 42 in 2007/08. Still fantastic either way.

Suarez has had a great season, at one point it looked like he was easily going to beat the record. Thankfully he hasn't though!

Ah. Got my stats from ESPN, thought they were reliable: 31 in the league, 9 in the CL, 3 in the FA Cup. Do you know which of those is incorrect?

EDIT: might be the CL stat, his wiki page has him at 8 goals for that comp!

Yeah it's the CL one. He still finished top scorer that year though.

He's looked God awful in the last two/three games. At times I was wishing the ball wouldn't drop to him, or get a pass. Its like he's switched from world's best to worse than Aspas in the matter of weeks.
