What is Luis Suarez worth?

That's pretty much true. Real see a player they covet and bid for the player, with no regards to cost, wages, age, etc. They don't care about stupid things like resale value.

Been back to his old ways in the last few games. Really upped the any after having been rather gentlemanly for a big part of the season.

He took the force of Fer's studs to the shin. The immediate pain is intense and it goes away shortly afterwards unless it is a serious injury. He continued and when the play finished he had a little limp. There's no problem with that, just the vine doesn't show it.

£50m? I guess you're probably just trolling here.

£50m and being accused of trolling??????????:eek::wenger:

He is 27 years old and you can get 3-4 years of that at most. Cavani was sold somewhere in the region of that sum. Is it just me or is the whole world buying into this mad newspaper transfer sums?? £50m is madness!

So like Sturridge's dive which got Vidic suspended for two games?

What has that got to do with anything ? Vidic got suspended for two games because he received a red card that wasn't overuled by the FA (ofcourse it was a mistake by the ref and he shouldn't have gotten that card).

I'am not excusing Suarez for his theatrics, I'am just poitning out he won't get a retorspective ban over it, because you don't get that over yellow infringements and playacting, even as blantantly as this is always a yellow card but never a red.

Cavani isn't even in the same league as Suarez. You don't just sign the best player of a PL winning team that has recently signed a new contract for £50m, definitley one that is as important as Suarez. Last year £50m would have made sense for him, given what happened this season he has no doubt increased that value with a couple millions.

I don't think he'd go for any less than £75m, given the £100m Bale set as a preseident, no doubt Liverpool will want the same, if they'll get it is another matter, you are right in pointing out the guy is already 27 and that is atelast 3 or 4 years less worth on the investment (compared to Bale that is).

Suarez is light years beyond Cavani these days.

Let the £50m bid roll in. Mr Henry will once again enquire what said bidder is smoking, Suarez will stay and Liverpool will retain the league's best talent...and we all now how that has worked out this year.

If he is going to go for more than Bale, it will be this summer, though i think that still a long shot.

Liverpool have to make a careful decision whether to sell him this summer and make the maximum profit or hope that he has a similar season to this next year and makes his mark on the CL. Otherwise his value is going dramatically reduce the nearer he gets to 30.

Not really...have you never had a quick rush of adrenaline in a sport? You know, "high stress or exciting situations"? The contact is obvious, Fer's studs to Suárez's shins, so there can't be any shout for a dive.

The initial pain of almost any contact is the most intense but at that point Suárez did the right thing, got up and joined the attack that shortly finished. And then right after (~63:20 mark) you could see him wincing in pain, holding onto his shin. The English commentators even made sure to point out that it was a "robust challenge" from Fer.

If you've ever experienced something like that before, you would know exactly what I mean. How there was no foul on that play, I don't know. It's not like this is uncommon, how often do you see footballers getting hit hard, are in pain, and get up right afterwards when the referee doesn't call the foul? It's happened to Cristiano multiple times this season for example, Neymar and Verratti as well from what I remember.

Suárez gets the negative attention because of his awful reputation but it's not like this is a one of a kind incident.

Take the entire situation into account. The price that top players go for nowadays, his importance to Pool, their need to sell him etc. A 50mil bid wouldnt even get 1 second attention.

IF he leaves, it'l be for a new world record fee.

Aye that was cringey. I hate seeing stuff like that but I suppose i have to take the good with the bad. Wish he'd cut it out though.

It's a sign of the modern game...always after the free kick. Great player but IF he'd really been caught it would hurt and he definitely wouldn't be up running seconds later...despite what Pippa might think ;)

I'm sure he experienced a little bit of pain but the theatrics are utterly ridiculous. No-one spins like that as a natural reaction to a kick on the shin. You can see by the time he's turning his head he's already "recovered".

I bet you £100 if he gets sold this summer he'll go for over £50m.

I'm almost certain Suarez isn't going anywhere this summer, unless the reason he signed a new contract was so that he could get an official buy out clause inserted into the contract.

If he does, it will likely be more than Bale went for.

I think it is very very hard for any player to turn down Real but I'm not convinced that Real will go after him this summer at least anyway.

I have, the pain does not go away in 5 seconds either

I can't believe you genuinely believe this. Suarez went down feigning injury in an attempt to win a foul. As soon as he realised he wasn't getting the foul and his team had the ball he jumped up. It's absolute delusion to think otherwise.

Liverpool must love it when we are in for their players. Alonso suddenly went up a level and his value doubled after we cocked that transfer up and the same seems to have happened with Suarez!

Their values didn't our haven't doubled, you tight gits just offered half of what they were worth.

It's not really delusion when it's something that you talk of from personal experience, and something that has happened several times amongst many other footballers. And especially when it's those who don't have reputations for diving. Earlier this season Verratti got elbowed in the face and he was down for about 2 seconds before he immediately got up. After the play was dead he ran to the official and started yelling at him. Just yesterday Duck got studs to his calves and was rolling on the ground before he got up. A lot of stinging pains tend to go away very quickly.

If you want to see an example of someone feigning injury in an attempt to win a foul, look at what Dani Alves did to Pepe in the 2011 Champions League semi-final. Alves simulated contact from Pepe, Pepe got a red card. Alves was rolling on the ground like he was shot, and was put on a stretcher. 1 minute later and he was sprinting everywhere, not a single issue with his leg.

It's not like this is a modern development either. The same crap was happening 10, 15 years ago. It's just a lazy excuse. This sort of stuff happens often but with Suárez it's like a crime. He did the right thing and got up from an obvious foul that wasn't called. He's a bit theatrical but it's nothing different to what Figo was doing 15 years ago.

While there was contact it really was minimum and you can see Suarez grabbing the back of his leg despite being "raked" with the studs on the front. It wasn't a dive by any means but he was without doubt feigning injury. Not really much to complain about thought considering 90% of footballers do this these days. It just looks a lot worse when he jumps straight up to join in on the the attack after his theatrics.

Liverpool were ready to sell Alonso for £15m and Suarez would of been sold for a bid around £50m.

You're right about as being tight though, you'd think we'd learn but not sure we will with current management in place.

I think Pippa has a point, to be fair.

While I wouldn't at all be surprised if he was making a meal of it, I think the main problem isn't the contact itself but the way he falls on his foot after riding it. He could have easily twisted his knee there if his foot stayed in place with studs locking it while the full weight of his body was still in a spin. Probably got a bit of a twitch and reacted to it. Having had chronic knee injury problems in the past I can relate to that sort of thing, I've executed the most ridiculous somersaults to avoid any excess force on my knee ligaments.
