What is Luis Suarez worth?

Tbf, he makes Rooney look very average. And Rooney is supposed to have been at his best this season, according to some caftards at least.

I don't agree with this at all, they're just very different players.

He's been really excellent though, he's definitely extremely focused on his football at the moment, it's impressive.

Suarez is on a different level to any PL player this season. Be that may Aguero, Rooney or Ramsey. All those three have had 'standard' very good seasons. Suarez is showing the forms that like of Ronaldo and Henry did at their best.

Only question mark that remains is performing at the same level against the top teams. Spurs count somewhat but not really. Next two games will be key.

He's really brimming with confidence...best striker in the premier league without a doubt. I think he's better at the moment than RVP was for us last season, and that is saying something.

Easily. He's the best player in the league since Ronaldo.

Well, you could say that Rooney and, say, Soldado are just very different players and therefore we shouldn't say that Rooney is better than Soldado.

Both are forwards and Suarez is nearly twice as productive as Rooney at the moment. And it's not only about the quantity of his goals and assists. It's about the quality as well.

Where he's definitely made progress is his finishing, when he first arrived I thought he was quite a bit wasteful but he's really become lethal.

Fowler level even.

Both scored/score a lot and both are cnuts but that's where the similarities end imho. Fowler couldn't have scored the type of goals that Suarez regularly does.

I think their finishing is about par, the level Suarez is it now.

Suarez is obviously another level besides that.

Since coming back from his ban, Suarez has scored more goals than Manchester United in the Premier League

He's scored more goals in 12 games than what any of the bottom 10 have managed in 16.

Other records - first player in the league to score 10 goals in a calendar month. with 2 games to spare.

Also first player in the league to score 2+ goals for 4 games straight.

He's a better finisher and has gotten such so "generous" too. That assist for that hairdo (forgot his name), he would have tried to score it last season. He's been amazing and comfortably the best player in the league this season.

He surely has the best goals per minute out of all players in all the European leagues. We were all in awe at home Ronaldo and Messi were scoring goals for fun, but Suarez is taking it to another level in spite of playing with mostly average players around him. He is currently scoring at a rate of a goal every 61 minutes, and if we include assists to a goal then, he has scored and been involved with a goal being scored ever 46 minutes. Ronaldo is around the 77 minutes mark for each league goal he has scored and including his assists in the league then it brings him down to 61 minutes. Messi has played 855 minutes, scored 8 goals and has 4 assists in total. This means he scores a goal every 106 minutes and is directly involved in a goal every 71 minutes. If there had not been any European football then, Suarez would be the best in the world at the moment. Only hoping that Wazza and RVP can kick on to great things this season.

Dunno about that. Fowler was one of the most natural finishers I've ever seen. Suarez has improved his massively and is of course a better all around player than Fowler.

Ronaldo and Messi have done it for years though, and in the CL. Let's see if Suarez can do that. Those 2 are still light years ahead when it comes to insane numbers.

We are talking about now, the present. As far as Ronaldo's mark on the premier league, he only had one decent season where he scored more than 20 goals in the league, the rest was 17 and 18 goals in the league. Suarez scored 23 last season and is already near the 20 goal mark for this.

I am sure you said the same when Ronaldo started hitting crazy numbers for you.

He isn't far off the truth to be honest. A great player surrounded by average players.
They're not average players. Henderson has been very good this season. Three superb passes today alone. Coutinho and Sturridge have been excellent. Lucas has been very good and the defence has been solid too. Also the style they're playing is ensuring the team is consistently better than the sum of all it's parts.

The Maradona comparison is just

The present in which Messi is injured? Ah, I'm with ya. Let's be honest, he's looking great but Suarez is a bit of a flat track bully right now. That's why I said let's see him perform at City and at Chelsea first.

steady now, ffs.

I'd give Gerrard a mention too though. Agree about the sum of its parts. Suarez didn't have a platform to strut his stuff in the second half today because the team took their foot off the gas.

I wonder how many of the naysayers have also been seen in Messi/Ronaldo threads arguing that those numbers are only possible in la liga and they wouldn't be getting the same in the prem.

Yes, this season, but come on. If you want to laugh, look at all the comments in the Henderson thread and all the criticisms. Sturridge hasn't been injured for a while now, Coutinho is getting back to full fitness. Again, people always question the worth of Lucas here too. At the end of the day, the posters who are having the last laugh are the Liverpool ones who could probably take posts about the aforementioned players and laugh at them now. For what it is worth, the one constant has been Suarez, who was banned for five games remember. He has had to carry the side and he is doing a good job, for a cnut.

The Maradona comparison was tongue in cheek, obviously. Suarez is having an absolutely unprecedented effect on our results at the moment though. If he continues in this fashion then much is possible.

I am probably one of those guilty parties to be honest. I was probably one who said that it would be impossible for anyone to score like that in the Premier league. Imagine Suarez in La Liga though.

Errm Ronaldo played as a winger in the league. In the 17 goal season he did not even have the free role he had in the 18 goal none.

We've laughed at some of those players but what matters is that they're playing excellently this season. And the way the team is playing is very very impressive. I just disagree with calling the situation a great player surrounded by average ones when the whole team is playing so impressively. Their passing and control over games has been excellent.
