What is Luis Suarez worth?

I expect him to terrorise Cardiff too before he starts slowing down. Another hattrick on the cards? I think he'd fancy 20 league goals before christmas.

The jump already to everyone else in the league is pretty funny.

Suarez - 17
Aguero - 13
Sturridge - 9
Rest of them.

He's 8/9/10 goals in front of players you'd expect to be up there already (bar Aguero). Quite ridiculous indeed.

Suarez has a goal every 1.41 games and add to that his assists, he has scored and directly assisted in 21 goals in 12 games at 1.75 per game.

Aguero has 13 goals in 15 games.

I think you mean 1.41 goals in every game, no?

Many thanks for the that Cina. I used it at the end of my post but not the beginning. Furthermore, he has 55 goals in 88 games. He could possibly beat Shearers record on the least number of games for 100 goals scored in the Premier League. Shearer made his ton in 124 games, Thierry Henry done it in 160 games and Robbie Fowler done it 175 games. With the stops and starts to his career due to his own making, he has done really well to maintain a consistent performance. Now I can see why Rodgers gave him the captaincy, which is akin to Moyes gave Rooney the captaincy from time to time, to make sure they will stay.

This thread reeks of bitterness. Fact is, he's the best player in the league this season and might well go on to be one of the key reasons we miss out on Champion's League football. Liverpool aren't dropping down the table as long as he keeps putting two goals past everyone they play.

He's an odious human being, I mean real scum, but he's a fantastic player and a genius on the pitch.

This could basically be his Ronaldo 07/08, hopefully with the transfer to Madrid at the end of it too. Don't think he'll leave in January, but I do think that he's playing for better offers from other clubs.

Madrid won't offer the money in Jan, hence why he won't go, the Bale purchase is still hurting them, in fact I'd be surprised to see him go in the summer, what's his contract sit?

He's fecking class. Anyone who says otherwise is bitter or deluded. He may be a cnut, but he's a great footballer.

I think he is going to go past the Drogba/Ronaldo/Shearer and Cole records easily. He is a cnut, but I cannot see him getting less than 40 unless he gets a red card or gets injured. Secondly, what is also frightening is that hasn't played in any European competition i.e. Champions League and therefore, he could have had more than 20 this season already. That is not including the F.A. Cup either. I think he will go onto to beat the number of goals scored in a Premier league.

Doesn't sound like he's palnning on leaving soon:

Suarz said:
"Liverpool are starting to reach their potential and we can play our best on the pitch. It's very important that we stay together, we keep going, this is very important. If Liverpool don't have these players I cannot continue my level, because it's too much. They know I am important, so they try everything to stay together, that's important for me, but it's more important for the club."

The likes of Shearer & Fowler were out & out goalscorers. You could probably put RVN into that bracket. Problem with those type of players is that teams generally have to change their style to accommodate them. Henry & Suarez were/are creators as much as they are goalscorers. A much more valuable asset to any team I'd say.

Always nervous about these sort of games. More so when on the back of such a stunning victory. Could be a classic case of 'after the Lord Mayor's show'. I'd be happy with a stuffy 1-0 win.

It's feet on the ground time.

His stamina is actually incredible. Hate him as a person but his commitment and quality on the field is actually amazing. I love the way how he chases even lost causes and gives it all for Liverpool. Still think he's bit of a flat track bully but he's amongst the top5 in the world right now.

It is simply because Rodgers gave him some responsibility in giving him the armband. Giving it to him in that manner instead of giving it to someone who has been there longer like Skrtle for example is a sign that they think he is a very important player in the team. This also gives Suarez that extra bit of incentive to play even better.

Fifty to sixty give or take. One hundred million is not likely to be reached again for a while.

That I would have to agree with. In fact, Henry and Suarez are pretty much alike except for their personality. Suffice to say, in the case of Shearer, if we take away the 58 penalties then he would be at 202 goals instead of 260, Fowler would be 146 goals instead of 163. As far as goalscoring is concerned, the only player who has scored more league goals away than at home is Ryan Giggs. The only other player who is pretty close to that is Emile Heskey or Kevin Phillips. Our own Ronaldo scored 84 goals with only 27 of them away.

After summer's little episode Steve, I wouldn't believe a word the lad says. If he told me tomorrow was Wednesday I'd check the calendar just to be sure.

He is clearly their 'Wayne Rooney.' They are giving him what he wants otherwise he is going to kick up a fuss. Mind you, he still needs to hold the club to ransom one more time to equal Rooney.

Know what you mean, mate, but I thought it sounded sincere. :)

Don't have to. We've got a few at United, as do other teams, but I can't ever recall one of our players ever biting another player.

We haven't, which is just great. However, we seem to be forgetting the first incident of its kind in the Premier league by Jermaine Defoe. What he did was just as bad as what Suarez did to Ivanovic, yet very little is said about it.

Its his movement and unpredictability that really fecks defences up. I don't think defenders in the PL have the kind of naunce to deal with forwards like Suarez.

It's all of those things put together though, it's not just an isolated incident with Suarez, he's a repeat offender.

Since his last heavy ban, he has tried to play it straight and has not dived as often as he would probably liked to. Even last week, he had a chance to stay down for a penalty since he was caught but credit to him for trying to turn the page of his so far nightmareish start to the Premier league. He is letting his goals do the talking and it is working for the player. In football he can be a cnut, but you have to respect him as a goalscorer and the way he scores goals. I have even watched an interview with him with his family and he is totally different to how we perceive him to be on the pitch.

This is why he has scored so many goals. The Rooneys, the RVPs, Ronaldo's, Neymars or Messi's are pretty much predictable in the way they score goals but, Suarez is totally different in that no-one knows what he is doing. We don't know if he is going to shoot, pass to another player or what have you. It is his element of surprise that kills most teams.

He always tries to read the mind of the defender, he must be a nightmare because he's always anticipating that you might make a mistake and doing stuff to put you off, always doing the opposite of what a normal player would do. He's always up to something, in a good way or a bad way. His brain is constantly alert. I think it's safe to say his finishing has vastly improved than what it was. I remember he used to miss a lot of easy chances, these days he just doesn't seem to miss even half chances.

I can see Suarez, or his agent at least, not accepting the high release clause we're obviously looking to put in.

If we can get him on a new contract, Andy Heaton made the point that he could see Gerrard willingly handing captaincy over. I could definitely see that happening providing that he signs on.
