What has actually happened to Joe Hart?

Whoops, thought Pantilimon started the final. :o

Mancini didn't start him because he was looking to leave? Funny how he's still there.

I sympathise with him for the goal. Blocked off really.

Doesn't take away from his poor form though. He just needs competition, like any young keeper. It did De Gea some good to be dropped from time to time, it really helped Szczesny last season and Hart will have to do it too.
It really, really didn't.

Most of his mistakes came following a return to the team after being inexplicably dropped or rotated, and it even got to the point he was a nervous wreck after being dropped and being thrown back in (thinking 3-2 Blackburn and that FA Cup game at Anfield).

He's been incredibly fortunate that Lindegaard picked up long term injuries 2 seasons in a row because he'd have never have got a proper run of games to build his confidence and acclimatise if Fergie had the option to keep messing him about as he was doing. I'd honestly go as far to say there's a good chance either we'd have cut our losses or he'd have asked for a move if things carried on the way they were.

Not to say Hart wouldn't benefit from some time out the team. I think it's highly presumptuous to say he's let the hype get to his head though and so he's not arsed any more, I mean, after the mistakes today and against Scotland do you think what's going through his head is "I can do no wrong, I'm the best keeper in the world"? Most likely hes just disappointed and embarrassed he cost his team a goal..

I posted the same thing in the Premier league thread and someone was adamant that it was Harts fault. I explained to him that the way Zabaleta let Campbell run into space it is clearly his fault when he wasn't doing his job properly. I think some just simply have an agenda against him. Yes, he has made some clangers, but so have others. Yes, I am looking at you lawman.

Ha ha cheers Proud Lyon yes I know others have made clangers but Harts seemed to get overlooked in the press and I think that a long with DDG's treatment of the press annoyed a few myself included. But for what it's worth let me clear up something fo yourself and Brightonian the defender in front of Hart is in the proper defensive position. Unless you are looking for him to do a specific job ie protect a weak GK!

That is neither here or there though. Zabaleta was supposed to be tracking Campbells run, not once but twice and he failed miserably. Zabaleta was at fault for two goals and not one. If he cannot do his job properly, how on earth can you criticise Hart? If Zabaleta had done his job properly and followed Campbell and made sure the ball was his, then perhaps City might have won the match. As for the "overlooked in the press". This is probably with reference to De Gea being wrongly criticised by the press and Hart isn't.

Butland should really force a loan move as him and Forster have excellent chances to take the England spot.
Ben Foster is on top of his game at the moment.

Foster has been fairly consistent for West Brom of that there is no doubt, however bearing in mind the pressure of being England's No 1 i'd be inclined to bypass him in favour of Forster.

Yes, in the same way that Ruddy recognised the importance of first team football Butland can't afford to sit in the shadows all season long. Where could he go right now and have a reasonable chance of starting matches?

Yep I agree about Zabeleta 100% but then Hart should have still dealt with it regardless both them failed. The other fellow is in the correct position and thats what I was alluding to.

Believed his own hype...Players of his age and younger need to be nurtured correctly..Doesn't help when the media is over blowing your ability and Brian Kidd has his head up your arse and is playing with your balls day in and day out

At least the stupid faces and his laughing seems to have disappeared!

It's tough as realistically it would probably be a Championship team even though i think that he could probably start at people like Palace or West Ham (who wouldn't want to help a team that will be in and around their positions).

I hope we get drawn with England for the World Cup again...Joe Hart inspires so much confidence.

I can't imagine De Gea ever having a year and a half of pure shit so Hart needs to sort himself out very quickly I feel if he is to establish himself as one of the world's top goalies again. Could well end up as another run of the mill goalie which looked ridiculous a couple of years back.

I draw parallels to Paul Robinson when he was at Tottenham tbh.

Hasn't that quote already been knocked down by Daniel Taylor who said that Al Jazeera confirmed he hadn't even been on yesterday?
Yep, I was too sucked into someone meaningful finally criticising Hart. But Platt himself has pretty much said that he said he and Mancini 'liked' Begovic.

He believed his own hype. He was in front of me at Cardiff yesterday, and even when he's just standing there not doing anything of note he still gives off the aura of an arrogant wanker.

Why, what was he doing to give off that air?

Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Yet it was still difficult to look at him standing there and not think "what a prick".

Ever since those head and shoulders ads I can't look at him without thinking greedy prick tbf.

I've just been listening back to the podcast of last week's Sunday Supplement, my word the pane was brimming with desperate Joe Hart apologist.

We can now add to the list of reasons the standard of goalkeeping coaches in the Premier League, as well as big Joe not feeling the love from Mancini.

The fact that Neil Ashton represented the more objective voice says it all.

Just listening to Talk sport apparently not to worry about Hart as class is permanent. That the goal he conceded against Scitland was down to the defender and it was horrendous in real time when you analysis it. Plus he's playing average due to his centre halfs!

Yeah it was embarrassing and in keeping with previous defence of the likes of Terry, Gerrard and Rooney. Leafed through every excuse in the book, ironically stopping short of blaming themselves for hyping his reputation in the first place.

Caught out again by another speculative shot from distance so i hear, although you wouldn't expect him ot have been lacking in concentration bearing in mind the opposition tonight.
