What has actually happened to Joe Hart?

We were apparently shit for the whole of their title winning season whereas they were head and shoulders the best team around and could have beaten anyone. A lot of the media seemed to ignore the fact that they scraped it on goal difference with the last kick of the season.

Exactly.

I reckon if SAF had decided to stay on one more season, we'd walk it this year, even playing like we are but taking account of the SAF factor.

Well played sir!

He is a decent keeper, just built up to be world class by city and some england fans when he isnt there yet. Cech had a similar hounding when he lost form a few seasons ago. Bigger they are built up, the harder the fall back to reality. Most keepers reach maturity come closer to 30 so e has time yet if he is strong minded enough.

Good solid keeper, just not yet at the top end of goalkeepers.

All very well us laughing at Hart, and it really was a complete feck up, but it would have benefited us more, overall, if it had stayed at 1-1.

Still, only 2 points behind Shitty, who everyone says are so wonderful & waiting to win the league, despite United being a shadow of our former selves.

Sadly this is so true. It's hard to fully mock his mistake as it cost both them 2 points which means Chelsea is 6 points ahead rather than 4, much preferred that. But still good enough to laugh at.

Also, http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...ital-One-Cup-clash-with-Newcastle-United.html

Not surprising as the BFG always takes the League cup games, but may be the start of a nice benchwarming session for Joey

Apparently he's going to get dropped soon, I saw the title on my news feed. Anyone confirm this?

Joe Hart wanted to dress up as a ghost for City's Halloween party. Unfortunately he hasn't got enough clean sheets.

The Telegraph claim he's been dropped for City's game versus Norwich.

EDIT: So do the Guardian. Looks like the beginning of the end.

Costel looked decent midweek, deserves a start over Hart. Chance it could become permanent if he doesn't have a brain fart.

Didn't Mancini claim he wanted to sign Begovic to replace Hart? Probably a safe bet they'll spunk money on Stoke for him this January.

Bad news for Norwich if Hart's dropped - not that they had much of a chance anyway, but still they'd at least have had a good chance of being gifted something.

He's not actually a bad 'keeper; he's just let all the praise go to his head. Needs to take some time out of the limelight for a while, maybe move to a slightly lower-table team or go abroad. He's still young, really - plenty of years left in him if can get back to the top.

I would love it, love it, if Pantilimon played tomorrow and threw in a few goals.

I don't. I hope he makes a string of saves but ultimately City get beaten anyway.

The last thing I want to see is the City and Hart apologists in the media going on another embarrassing crusade.

If this was part of a script then Pantilimon will have a steady game tomorrow but Ruddy one of those Friedel vs United type performances.

Early preparation for a permanent spot on the bench once Willy comes in.

I'd love to see the pro-Hart crusade. feck it, build him up and knock him back down again.

He's basically John Terry without the nasty, disgusting human being part.

Yeah, I don't get the Hart hate. He seems pretty likeable. He's also honest and not a platitude bot in interviews. Him, RVP and Walcott are the only people who's post match mumblings I don't automatically tune out of.

He's an arrogant cnut when he's on the pitch but he's a good guy off it. There's plenty of players like that.

That video where he spent a day with that little lad who had cancer showed the side of these players we never see.

All players make mistakes. All keepers make mistakes. Some mistakes keeper's make get punished, others get dissected by the media, others get away with it.

One reason why Hart gets so much stick from United fans is that when he was having his great season, he was making mistakes (parrying the ball back into the danger zone, misjudging when to come out) but it wasn't costing goals. So while De Gea was getting shredded for similar mistakes that did lead to goals (and ones that didn't) Hart was getting away with it.

They all make mistakes, but the best ones don't let it affect their performance in the rest of the game, or in the next game. They try and learn from the mistakes, work on the weaknesses, but ultimately they don't let it get inside their head that they're going to make the same mistake again, and they don't let if affect their game.

Hart, as far as you can tell, seemed to be oblivious to the mistakes - just as oblivious as the media. So he never tried to work on the problem. When his luck ran out, nerves set in and made the situation worse. Can he get over it? Of course he can. Van der Sar had a torrid time at Juventus and it took him years to prove he could get over it.

Hart then. He's young, he's got the ability. He might need to go back to keeper school for a while to get his head straight and his weaknesses reduced. Meanwhile City can afford to leave him on the bench or stick a for sale/lease label on him.

Hopefully he takes this the right way and works to improve himself, I know he plays for our rivals but it's good for the national team to have him in form.

I also don't mind him, he seems alright to me. The game against Madrid gets brought up a lot but I honestly thought he was right in that interview, they should never have let Madrid back in. Thought it's was refreshingly honest personally.

So much Hart arse licking going on in here, I'm gonna balance it out.

The guys a cnut.

I think Pantilimon is shit, so I'm hoping he plays a blinder today, because they'll win whether he does or not.

The chances of Norwich testing him often unfortunately, are slim.

Watching The Sunday Supplement this morning and am I the only one who thinks the bias towards Joe Hart is excessive? Not only on this programme, but in the media in general, however they have led the way on the past two shows.

I know it's an easy comparison but I don't remember anyone arguing Fergie shouldn't have opted for Lindegaard when De Gea's form wasn't at its best at the start of last season and we dropped/rotated keepers for a few months. If anything they were happy to promote the "flaps at crosses" "good shot stopper but error prone" etc narrative.

Now it's Hart however and they're pushing the idea that Pellegrini has handled it terribly apparently. I saw the stats this season for Hart vs Pantillimon somewhere and if you don't have an England bias it's clear to see dropping a Hart isn't as outrageous as they're making out.

The line they were pursuing last week was that Pellegrini should back his keeper as that's the best way to get him back to his best. That's all fine and well if it's a bad patch lasting a few weeks, not really much use when the bad patch extends to a year or so.
