An ode?…
Yes I used London Transport and have done for two decades. It’s only ever got better at a time that nationals services have got progressively worse.
We have one of the best transport systems on the planet and some of the best cycling infrastructure that’s only getting better. I’ll talk a lot of shit about this godforsaken isle, but we move millions of people round exceptionally well.
We need less car journeys, less pollution, increased public health and money spent on people, not cars.
Sadiq’s point was so simple to understand. Try to listen again instead of just cherry picking and misrepresenting.
Except it literally hasn’t got better. They’ve cut bus routes down, completely cut out entire bus routes. And we’re literally in the middle of some of the most prolonged strikes in tube and rail history.
We’ve seen the highest amount of cancellations on record in a month since records began. Prices for travel is also at its highest. On what planet is a service getting better when it’s charging people more and
factually producing a more unreliable service in terms of delays and cancellations.
Our transport should be the best on the planet, with the amount of fecking money that goes into it. It still needs to be held to a standard.
“Sadiqs point was so simple to understand”
I don’t think it’s me who needs to rewatch the video. He doesn’t make any point . Essentially gaslighting anyone who turned up there with valid qualms against ulez by telling them they’re in cahoots with the far right, covid deniers and anti vaxxers.
A common Sadiq Khan tactic…..
We need less car journeys, less pollution, increased public health and money spent on people, not cars.
Nobody said that shouldn’t be the case. I didn’t say it, it wasn’t my point with the post either. I don’t drive in inner London, my car would be ulez compliant. Its not personal to me…
however It’s possible to empathise with people who it may effect, and who’s circumstances might dictate that using their car is cheaper than paying up to 300£ on a monthly travel card or that public transport isn’t actually suitable for their job.
You can think this and then ….not expect those people to be called right wing nut jobs by the mayor of London nonetheless…
