Westminster Politics

Potentially.

Also, isn't what's happening now exactly what Rishi said would happen with Truss' plans? Stupid bitch.

So, how do we move forward from here? Do the top 1% of Tory cnuts get to fleece the country and destroy it in the same process, or, does the Chancellor go back and change his proposals?
Yeah he called it and the spectator battered him for being doommongering:

Gordon Brown sold some gold cheaply once?

If people don't love Starmer or they wish Labour were more left wing then fine yeah.

But to argue Labour are no better than the Tories, especially these fecking Liz Truss Tories is just monumentally stupid.

People make perfect the enemy of the good and then we end up with 5 more years of tories.

Exactly.

You get people who say Labour aren't absolutely perfect or they don't cater to me specifically so I can't vote for them, meaning the Tories win. I also think some enjoy being in opposition and the party of protest and fear the prospect of winning.

It might be another 2 years but I'm more and more convinced the Tories are losing the next election. They're in crisis.

feck sake.

How can you believe that?

Starmer ***** for a man who not only started a war on a lie but the man who stood up and said there was no weapons of mass destruction was found dead in the woods behind his house where he was supposed to have taken his dog for a walk and then killed himself.

So are you just voting for nobody then?

any neat summaries of stuff to come out of conference so far? beyond pr which ironically reads like public relations to me, but would obviously favour it.

Oh god, is the chaos, the crashing, the poverty and suffering, the death by a thousand cuts, the rape and plundering all about to be attributed to "why did we forsake Rishi?"

Is there is no way out of this Tory hell spiral.

I live in a pretty safe Labour area although I think in 2019 it was closer than I'd have liked.

I hope tactical voting is a thing in the next election though yeah. Anything that gets them out of power.
I live in a area that had been Labour since 1979 to 2017 when it went to the Tories. I will vote Labour. I would have been happier about it if Stammer hadn't spoken so openly about his belief in Blair.

Blair won 3 elections on the trot and was the last Labour leader to do in a number of years. It would be stupid not to acknowledge that.

Should be pointed out too this is supposed to be the honeymoon period for Truss.

The new leader bounce, The Tory energy crisis freeze, even The Queen dying. All of that should have helped the Tories hugely and it looks like not only has she not had any bounce but her support is falling.

Wait until the public get to see her more, shit will really hit the fan for the Tories then.

Well yeah he kinda of was tbh. The guy responsible for at the very least thousands of deaths in Iraq(Plus all the other domestic awful right wing shite he did while in power).

Fairly grim read. Shades of Miliband in 2012 and 2013. The worst lesson to take from this is that Labour need to sit back and await the inevitable election victory.

EDIT: That being said, the 1997 landslide was caused by Tories staying home, but it would be a fool's errand to assume that will happen.

without PR, Labour, Lib Dems and Greens have to go hard into strategic voting, dropping candidates etc so if those tories come back they can be convinced into a "second option".

I can’t imagine the red wall voters that defected to the Tories are too fused about the “awful right wing shite”

Polled between 31 August and 1st September.

A week is a long time in politics.

This week feels like the week we dropped out of the ERM and that sealed the Tories fate. I can hope can't I.

Agree.

Blair is deeply unpopular all round the country, I’m sure the home owning retirement voters in the red wall hate him for all sorts of reasons, some legitimate and some insane.

Tbh I always go back to the old people who said they were voting conservative in order to kick out Labour Party and to get rid of Prime Minster Corbyn.
