Westminster Politics

These Tory mp’s saying it was “of course a sincere apology” are so detached from the situation it’s actually unsettling to listen too……are they mental???? Nope, they are Kronies

You mean people would still vote for him and his government??

I genuinely don’t think so this time

there will still be people preferring this Tory lot over the current labour group, but I just can’t see how the majority of the British public can vote for a party so glaring separated from the public anymore, regardless to how poor Starmer lead Labour Party are right now, I think the public have had enough of the Tory Kronies

I hope so atleast

There appears to be a large core of Tory voters who would vote for them regardless. I've seen people openly admit nothing would make them vote for another party. It's so dumb.

His "technical apology" will just buy him some time until the video clips / photo's from the party are "leaked" by those in No10 who are at risk of being blamed in the report.

Journo's are already hinting they have much more info and evidence to come out - including allegations of people being asked to delete evidence.

The Police won't do anything about it because they are complicit in allowing the event to happen. The Parliamentary & diplomatic protection command (no stranger to "bad news" in recent months) would have been informed in advance about the event taking place, as per normal procedure, to ensure they didn't burst in, thinking some intruders were in the rose garden.

The enquiry will find that mistakes were made....errors of judgement but not willful or illegal activity etc. Bojo is stupid enough to think this will exonerate him but the party know he is a dead duck now.

All of this obfuscation is just a delaying tactic for the looney fringe in the Tory party to try and decide who the next leader will be.

The tory's will want to do the horse trading behind the scenes rather than have a public leadership contest. So once the new leader has been agreed the final couple of backbench letters will be handed to 1922 committee who will then inform Bojo the gig is up. He will be told resigning now is best option as he will lose a leadership contest and will be offered the usual incentive of place in Lords etc. (he will be denied ever being Order of the garter - but won't be told that).

On news of his resignation Jacob rees Mogg and others will publicly agree that Torybotxx is a uniting force....both wings of the party.....think we can all accept them taking over at this time of national emergency... blah blah blah

yes but as that core will vote regardless it wont protect him because as you say they will vote for sunak or truss or gove or patel etc

as soon as the electoral calculus is that another leader will give them a better chance in the next election he will be gone

It is indeed mate

if the voting station was hanging off the edge of a cliff, they’d happily walk off it to try and sign it. These stubborn voters are a bizarre incredibly annoying bunch (not just meaning Tory voters here either)

Infact actually, if the Tory leader promised to shoot in the head Every Tory voter as a thank you….these particular stubborn voters we speak of would still vote with a smile.

I'm curious as to what they'd say if asked who they'd vote for if Labour and Conservative switched policies with each other.

I don't want to see him go. He's dead weight the Tories need to carry into the next election.

The last thing Starmer will want is for johnson to actually resign.

He'll want him as PM for as long as possible because he's toxic and reviled now.

yes and if it happens soon there will be a huge incentive for them to do just that... but I cant see Gove, Truss, Sunak, Javid and Hunt simply giving up on their ambitions... They probably think if the PM can see out another month or two even and allow the report to come out and covid figures to come down enough then I think some of them will fancy their chances in a leadership battle... Im not sure about patel - think she kinda has her dream job at the moment so she will probably back whoever is going to let her use gunboats on dinghy's

Boris stepping down would be the absolute worst thing. The Tories will elect some other cnut, probably even worse, do a soft rebranding and blame all the shenanigans of the past 24 months on Boris. They'll go on and win the next election.

Boris has to stay.

That will be the plan... I could see a May 2023 election as well if whoever the new PM is gets the usual honeymoon period in the polls as I think they have probably learned their lesson from when May didnt call the election soon enough

Opposition need to be targeting the Tories as a whole, not just Boris. They went along with his every move. They are no different. The sad thing would be he is sacked and replaced by another Cnut who the public think is different.

Bingo.

What we are witnessing right now is Tory strategy, these things are well planned out. They will absorb as much crap as they can into Boris, then send him on his way while keeping the replacement (Rishi) as far removed from it all as possible.

It was obvious the decision for Boris to leave had already been taken the first time the Telegraph published something against him months ago. Its probably always been the plan for him to step aside before the 2024 election. Prime time to do it is two years prior.

It wlll all be forgotten by the time the GE comes along, replaced by whaever labour/Kier smear campaign the UK media have already got locked and loaded.

I bet at Tory HQ somebody is searching for a Labour member that did something similar to Boris and co. This happened almost two years ago and it has only recently surfaced which seems odd. Anyhow, Boris will stick it out unless the remainers get together to kick him out.
The world is in the grip of Covid, Russia are massing troops in the Ukraine border, ice caps are melting and the headlines are either about some tennis player that lied on a visa application and Boris bumbling into a piss up in Downing Street. Typical.

That could be difficult if its focussed on the Garden Parties
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garden_of_10_and_11_Downing_Street

I mean its Rishis garden as well?

I think he does not actually live there but its going to be a tough sell if it turns out he popped out into the garden - which lets be honest seems quite likley?

I notice Truss was next to Boris today - totally wouldnt put it past her and gove to be behind the info coming out now... especially if Rishi can be collateral damage

Truss would fancy her chances because shes not Gove
Gove would fancy his chances trying to turm it into leave (him) vs remain (truss)

it does seem strange it all coming out now... so yeah never rule out the underhandedness of cummings / gove.

edit
This has been cicking round for almost a month now
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-59871514
but potentially not going to help Sunak become the anointed one - especially if it turns out he did go to a few of these parties in the shared garden of 10 and 11 downing street

Agreed.
That is the populist press for you. Only interested in scandals. And Boris is a steady supply of this.

Oh I have no doubt that Cummings is providing lots of the ammo.

Correct.
But the Nasty Party are well versed on precisely when and how to stick to knife in. And even more so with all those new Northern MPs wanting to keep their jobs.
But personally, a lame duck PM going into the next election would be ideal for Labour.

I know it'll be short lived but I took immense joy in watching Boris sink lower and lower today. I bet he wished the world would just swallow him up, or at the very least a fridge magically appeared behind him.

Actually looking at the angle there really is only one place this photo could have come from... 2nd floor no11 Downing Street...

Perhaps Rishi is getting impatient and worried he might actually have to deal with inflation

Rishi is in that photo, just not that cropped version you’re using there

Either that or hoping that by the time the enquiry comes out something else has happened to divert attention (though that seems unlikely at the moment)
Oh, without a doubt. Or maybe we'll all get free hats or something? Totally not a bribe or anything like that...

Doubt there'll be anything major happening before the official report is released.

Tories will want to make sure that, if BoJo does go, he carries as much of the blame for this as possible so not to damage their next in command.

I look forward to forgetting all about this by next weekend, along with the rest of the UK.

theres still plenty of people who think boris has done his best, and cant fathom that he really doesnt give a shit about the proles. or they dont see themselves as part of the proles, so they dont give a toss that he upsets them. hes got brexit done hasnt he. and hes not a communist. or brown. or kwasi kwarteng.

Most Tory voters would still vote for him. He could stand in front of number 10 and shoot someone and the Tory voters would still find a way to excuse his behaviour.
Nothing will come of this enquiry, he will be found not breaking any rules and he will stand up in Parliament with his smirk and say “I told you so”

True, the way people talk about him is often far more endearing than it ought to be. I suspect people buy into the chummy image he's created even in spite of these fiascos.

Senior Tory Christopher Chope told the same programme he had "never heard such an abject apology" during his long years in Parliament, and he believed it was "genuinely sincere".
He said: "I think the prime minister showed contrition and had realised he had done the wrong thing in not intervening at the time.

HE. WAS. AT. THE. CNUTING. PARTY.

The problem isn't that he didn't stop it. The problem is that he joined it, and then lied about there being any parties when asked by journalists at a later date.

The way his party always try to change the narrative is a total piss take. And all the shite about how it's only fair to wait for the "independent" inquiry would hold more weight if others hadn't walked for doing the same thing that Boris did.

I look forward to forgetting all about this by next weekend, along with the rest of the UK.
I'm waiting for the Daily Mail to release a video of Boris dancing on a marquee in the garden, topless, with a karaoke mic singing "Feck the Police".

He's save this time but I think there's a big story yet to come and that'll finish him.
