That's more likely to be positive news than not. Fergie rarely answers questions or mentions anyone we're in for unless there's a deal in place. From today's press conference thread:

Well, we aren't signing Modric or Nasri. So by default you should stay here.

Basically, it's up to Sneijder to agree terms. Looks like the RI poster was right re Nasri and Sneijder.
James Cooper's take on the press conference is that Sneijder was asked and Fergie said 'we'll have to see what's happening with that' and definietely gave the impression that a midfielder would be signed this window
Cooper has certainly taken his comments regarding Nasri though as that's a dead deal

This is killing me: no paper even mentions Sneijder in their account of the press conference. Nasri dominates the pages and there are Fergie's quotes about how to replace Scholes but Sneijder is nowhere to be seen.
Was he actually asked about him? Can we establish that as a fact?
The transfer of Sneijder, not expected until some time ago, is becoming increasingly likely because the offer of 39 million euros is fairly essential. Especially as the Dutchman is difficult to place in the form Gasperini and with that money Inter can lord it in the market and take the best there is on the square. Which, translated, is Sanchez.
Some Spanish sources (including the one below titled Sportsmediaset) believe that our transfer fee for Sneijder will immediately be spent by Inter on Alexis Sanchez:
Inter, Sneijder porta Sanchez. Se parte l'olandese si va sul cileno

For those asking, Sir Alex was asked about Nasri and Sneijder in one question during the press conf and only really addressed Nasri.
The Sun quotes an un-named teammate of Sneijder's as stating that 'Inter wants to sell but do not want to admit it and Sneijder wants to go but does not want to say.'
Despite it being from The Sun, I wouldn't be surprised if that quote is actually very close to the truth.
I must have been watching different games to you then.
Hooray!
We're signing him

Practice makes perfect
I suppose I will be the only one that thinks it, but here goes anyway.....
I am not that excited about the Sniejder prospect because he is already 27 and I have the feeling he will spend a fair bit of time in the treatment room.
Just seems a lot of cash for somebody that doesn't give me the feeling of longevity.
That said, in SAF I trust.
When did 27 become too bloody old?!

Well it looks to be a matter of time. His age is good, it will reflect well on the club because it's a high profile signing and it fills in a void. He's got bags of experience, he's confident in himself. When he's 31 the likes of Pogba, Morrison, Tunnicliffe etc will be 21 so I don't think it's that bad. The kids would also have someone new to learn from.
