Hernendez had a great season and I love him as a player but after our drubbing in the final and performance against Arsenal I don't think Fergie will deploy him in every big game.

If we sign an attacking/creative midfielder this summer I think in big games against technically good midfields (Arsenal, Barca, Inter, Spurs, Real, City) we will go for an attacking trio of sorts without a traditional line-leading striker.

We did this in 08 - arguable the greatest side Fergie ever assembled (some say the 94 team, some say 99).

Tevez, Ronaldo, and Rooney were our attacking trio is we could defend from the front and hit the opposition on the break from all angles. It was amazing to watch.

My point is Fergie will alter the side to accomodate a new midfielder and Hernendez is not undroppable even after an incredible debut season.

I think you are being harsh on whats still a young improving player. Any player can have off games and/or be marked out of a game. I think Hernandez class is beyond question by now.

In tough away games I don't think we should play with a target man/line leader.

It worked against Chelsea but they are on the decline and have a slow back line.

Hernendez is classy and immensely talented but not suited for every big game.

I see your point but the issue with that is you need the two players either side of Rooney be real goal threats, now Nani can be but I don't think Valencia and Park offer a great deal of goal threat.

Park's scoring record in the biggest games is actually quite good and we're signing Young who can be useful in a fluid front three. I agree about Valencia.

Can someone answer this?:

Are Chelsea after Modric or Sneijder or are they after both?

Douglas Maicon, Wesley Sneijder and Samuel Eto’o will all remain at Inter, owner Massimo Moratti insists.

All three players have been associated with summer exits, but, after losing his Coach Leonardo, Moratti maintains he won’t be losing his three key players.

“I have spoken to all three of them and all told me that they want to continue with us,” Moratti told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“We are in the transfer window and we are focused on everything and everyone, including which players to buy.”

Maicon has been paired with a switch to Real Madrid, while Chelsea and Manchester United are apparently chasing Sneijder.

Doubts were raised over Eto’o’s future last week when he admitted that he is considering offers from a number of English clubs.

Meanwhile, Moratti maintains that the Nerazzurri were never in the running to sign Genoa’s Stephan El Shaarawy.

“He is a great player, but we are well covered in his role,” Moratti insisted.

The Italian Under-19 international, who spent this season on loan at Padova in Serie B, is bound for city rivals Milan.

Yes because De Gea and Jones was all that we were missing vs Barca

fecking hell, the campaign is more than just the CL y'know. We could sign Modric, Sneijder and Mata and still we'd probably be behind Barce. We've signed two great young players already this transfer window!

The campaign is about being the best Twigg, that's always what Fergie wants.

Me all know that we need something more in order to beat Barca. I don't think we're as far behind as you think, a player or 2 and a tweak of the tactics.

No, the thing is I think we're very close. I think if we play Fletcher and perhaps De Gea (who makes the second save which VDS uncharacteristically missed) then perhaps we are in the game with Barce. We're comfortably ahead of every other team in England on this seasons evidence, so I don't think we can realistically improve our squad much more.

potentially great players...two kids really. The long term goals Barcelona. The fact is we're already the best in England and have been for a very long time. Obviously we have to buy to strengthen but Barcelona are the club we're chasing.

I'm not sure we're quite as far ahead as every other English club as we think... I have a feeling we'll be pushed very hard by at least one of Arsenal, Chelski or City this coming season.

So Modric, Benega, Sneijder, wouldn't improve our squad? of course they would.

I think you're over-rating Fletch more than a little, our season actually picked up this year when he was out, his form before that was poor. I don't think we're "comfortably" ahead of Chelsea, I really don't. Had they not had a massive 6 week meltdown it would've been very tight. Our away form was awful.

I think we're a good bit behind in all honesty. I think what people have overlooked is the time when you couldn't lose a game, is over. That standards gone. We lost a handful of games last season, we were extremely poor away from home. Extremely poor 9/10. It's a miracle we won the league. Though I think the season before we were extremely unlucky not to win it. We were humbled in the final for a reason. It wasn't just a bad day at the office and Sir Alex knows that. People have to know that. Our style of football suits Barcelona. That is a massive problem. We cannot keep the ball. We don't get support up field quick enough and mentally they have us beat. Some people sit on their arse and try to convince the world signing Sanchez will make them weaker....well, that's interesting but you need the ball first for it to matter. All we can do is try to change and Sir Alex has rightly looked at the youth levels and hopefully they bring about the changes

You're not serious, are you?

I hope Fergie doesn't share your opinion - this way of thinking guarantees decline.

I've no idea if the following is true. Found it on a rumours site:

Talksport are reporting that Manchester United target Wesley Sneijder has hinted he is ready to leave Inter Milan and move to Old Trafford.

Think that will be about that youtube video...the news is being recycled 100million times. It's absurd these stations fighting for an 'exclusive'..:(

I've just looked at Talksport's website, and they still have the story up about Kaka's mum coming to London. :D No doubt King Kenny will make a bid.

ha ha, it's true, it's the youtube vid.....

Football premier-league: Sneijder drops hint he could make Manchester United move | Radio talkSPORT

Manchester United target Wesley Sneijder has hinted he is ready to leave Inter Milan and move to Old Trafford.
Sir Alex Ferguson is eager to address his United midfield this summer having been outclassed by Barcelona in the Champions League final.
And the United boss is being backed by the unpopular Glazer family, who will loosen the purse strings this summer and allow Fergie to get his man.
United were ready to land Alexis Sanchez from Udinese but Barcelona have edged ahead and hope to clinch his signature this week.
And with long-term target Luka Modric seemingly being kept at Tottenham this summer, Ferguson is now ready to move for Sneijder, the mercurial Dutchman that has been on his radar since last summer.
United approached Inter last year regarding Sneijder but were knocked back - but the former Real Madrid star is keen on a move to Manchester.
The Dutchman's wage demands may prove a stumbling block but Ferguson is hoping the lure of moving to the Premier League champions will entice Sneijder into seeking a switch.
Inter are desperate to keep him but Sneijder last week performed a u-turn by saying only God knew his future, having initially claimed he wanted to stay at the San Siro.
And Sneijder, who has previously admitted his admiration for United, says he could yet move to United this summer.

When asked whether he fancied a switch to United he replied: "We shall see."

ha ha, no mention of the fact that he was drunk in vegas and some random punter blurted out the question to him!

I think we should claim royalties for that article.

Terrible journalism. They were too scared to mention that Wes' quote comes from a Youtube video.

Sneijder would play in most of our games if he came. He's too good not to, barring any unforeseen circumstances. He's right up there with Rooney, Vidic etc., he's genuinely world-class. My wet muppet dream.

Rooney isn't on £250k, that's the highest number the Sun plucked out their arse at the absolute height of the shit-your-pants fest that was October 2010. Every paper since has reported about £180k which is much more realistic.
