Wesley Sneijder

Personally, I couldn't give a shite what he gets per week. All footballers earn stupid money which they don't deserve, so I couldn't really give a toss who earns the most. I can see why the club wouldn't offer such wages, but as far as I'm concerned, I couldn't give a flying feck. I'd just love to see him in a United shirt. He'd be immense for us.

Why do people keep saying Rooney's on 250k when none of us really know?

Yeah I think so. It might not of been, but I've read it multiple times and it seemed to be the general consensus after he signed the new contract.

I guess wages are never 100% confirmed.

Stop believing that! It was just garbage from The Sun. Most papers seem to agree on something between 160 and 180. You really think we'd give him a raise from his 120ish wages to 250?!

Should we close the Fabregas thread then too?

and the Modric thread?

Saying "he is staying" means f-all in football, don't be so naive.

Its funny, because Glaston is taking an absolute pasting for doing exactly that. A lot I feel is unwarranted, personally.

Glaston is naive imo, I think Modric has gone too far with that interview and I think Chelsea will pay up in the end.

37mil I guess.

Dont get me wrong, I agree, he's very naive but the whole "lets all laugh at glaston brigade" is just a bit sad in my eyes. Ok, he might be being silly, but you dont have to humiliate someone who's clearly passionate in their defence of something.

Unless you post a photo of a candle with a flame, your argument means f-all. if you're not sure what it means, please consult gambit. :)

Had he not been so arrogant he wouldn't be getting the same abuse. He brought the reaction on himself.

Am I the only one who doesn't think Sneijder suits us and hence don't want us to sign him?

Are you blind?

Many a poster have the same opinion. For the record, I don't have the same opinion and I think he'd be a cracking signing that would work in a 2 with Carrick and in a 3 with Rooney up top, something that we will have to play in certain games.

I'm not sure how anyone can come to the conclusion he doesn't suit us. Great players can adapt. However it's not all about him, you need others to support the midfield allowing great players to do what they do best.

what if rooney was injured?....it's all irrelevant of course unless we actually buy him. However when we bought Veron, I don't think we worried about where we'd fit him in

What if Sneijder was injured?

What if our entire team was injured?

What if what if what if...

We shouldn't be worried about where a 35m signing should fit in?

well exactly but how can you say he'd limit anyone? It's daft. It's daft. It's daft. What i'm saying is if we bought him, we would (as a club) believe we can fit him in. Wouldn't we? The idea he wouldn't suit us is rubbish. You can never have too many great players. Especially in an area where we are lacking. However it's all irrelevant unless we buy him of course

You're missing the point here.

The argument is that Sneijder wouldn't fit into the area that we are lacking. So why should we go for him instead of a player we desperately need to fill that gap?

He would limit Rooney, who is our best player. And you're relying on Rooney getting injured for him to actually play in his proper role?

Get a player we really NEED to fill the gap, not someone who can fill a gap if someone gets injured.

Our midfield clearly needs a player who'll play week in, week out without disrupting our excellent attack.

Was our attack excellent away from home?

Well he would want to play where Rooney does just now. So do we move Rooney back up front where he scored plenty of goals a couple of seasons ago but was nowhere near as good a player as what he is in the hole, or out onto the wing where he is less effective? Drop Hernandez who is coming along nicely?

We have a good formation that works for us. We should be trying to buy players that complement our formation and can work with the excellent players we already have, not rearrange the team, move existing players to where they are less effective and talk of shipping the likes of Nani out.

Yes maybe we would move Sneijder back into midfield, but his best position is where Rooney is just now. He's a good player, but I'd rather a player that can come in and play in his best position alongside the good players we already have.

Anyway, it's irrelevant. I don't think we are seriously in for him, but if we are, and Fergie gets him, I wholeheartedly agree with you in that I am sure he will have something in mind and it will encompass all of our best players.

But Sir Alex pinpointed Berbatov and Rooney.

We could play 3 in midfield. Why not? What I know is that Sneijder is one of those players who can be inspirational like Rooney and like Nani and no one really knows how he'd react in Uniteds team but I think he'd probably rise to it.

(I can't quote for some reason?)

3 in midfield means Rooney not playing in his best position where he was devastating as times last season. Should we really sacrifice that? And the fact that SAF only plays 3 in midfield around 25% of the time (even less last season).

And Sharky, Fabregas has always played in the same position at Arsenal.
Nasri was far better last season in Fabregas role, his natural role whilst Fabregas was injured. He wasn't nearly as good on the wing which is not his PREFERRED position.

Giggs and Park had 3 good games in those roles, every single one of them against Chelsea (unless you count a rubbish Schalke team)

Why play a player as brilliant as Rooney in a position where he's limited. Do you not remember when he had to play on the wing Sharky? If he wasn't able to still be at his top there does that by your logic mean he's not a 'very good' player?

So we didn't have problems away from home then? We didn't have our worst away performance in premiership history?. It's not just about scoring....our performances in a lot of games was POOR....any idiot can list games we did well but there's an awful lot more games we were shite.

Maybe we should wait and see what happens. If it's Sneijder then we will see how he performs, but until then I don't think we are in a position to dismiss him purely to hide the fact we are not going to get him and that he might not 'fit'.

Fabregas hasn't always played the same role, that's total nonsense. He used to play much deeper, where's an Arse fan when you need him?

I'm not saying play Rooney on the wing, I'm saying, take our best performances from last season and make a tweek, Giggs for Sneijder, simples.

Giggs has played a lot more than a couple of games vs. Chelsea well in that role, that's disrespectful.
