Wesley Sneijder

Nah, he wasn't that good there, so they replaced him with Kaka who is a superior footballer but cannot get to play any decent football due to injury troubles. Ozil has done much better in his half a year there.

Incorrect. He was one of their best players when there but too many injuries. He was also played wide, not in central midfield. But that Real Madrid squad with the dutch transfers was not being successful. So when the new President came in he wanted all of the dutch players, reminders of an unsuccessful era, out the door. And selling them would free up funds to bring in "his" players.

Robben was sold. Is he no good? Van Der Vaart was hardly given chances and then eventually sold, was he not good this season? Sneijder was the best of the three at Madrid and he was brilliant for Inter last season. As I said the only issue Sneijder really had at Madrid was his injuries. They seem to be less of a problem during his time in Italy

Citeh will go for him. No doubt.

A mate of mine is a big city fan and ex season ticket holder. Having a bit of craic with him today and he's heard a couple of rumours for next year if the reach the CL.

Firstly - Tevez will be off to Inter (no great shock) - but Sneijder will go the other way, straight swap. Talks well underway.

Also - Adebayor to Real Madrid with Kaka coming the other way.

Mass suicide on the Caf if there was any truth in those.

Every City fan I have ever met is an ITK.

City will be lucky if they get Lass Diarra. Kaka for Adebayor

Madrid won't take up the option on Adebayor

If they can get a proper line leader they won't, but Mourinho's clearly not that impressed by Higuain or Benzema. Likes a big forward upfront and he'd be available for a decent price.

I wouldn't rule it out.

He's a class player but I really doubt his suitability playing in a 442. He's not what we need.

I think I read one of the Journos saying that Madrid won't take the option on Adebayor, can't remember who it was.

Sneijder did go through a bad patch at Madrid. Having been injured he drifted for a while, and got labeled as part of the night-club haunting Dutch player set. Even so, because of his talent Madrid weren't eager to sell, but when they realised they couldn't sell some of the others on their for sale list, they took an offer on him. Sneidjer credits Mourinho with getting him focused again.

I've not seen that much of him this year. I remember he looked knackered when he got back from the World Cup. What's happened since?

Rafa stopped being his coach, that's what.

How can you say?

Only reason they got Adebayor in is that Higuain was injured for a long spell. And Benzema only really turned the magic on after Adebayor got there to contend his place. Both have done a lot more than Adebayor

I think Benzema did score a lot of goals prior to Adebayor's move though...

But with Benzema alone, they needed a backup thus going for Adebayor which was a top striker and available on loan at that current point.

With Rooney playing deeper, a position which many (including myself) have argued is his best position from the start, I question whether we truly need another attacking midfielder.

Sneijder is quality, but if we are spending big on a CM now, assuming Rooney continues to play in his deeper role I would have thought we would want a player more comfortable sitting behind Rooney and alongside Carrick in essentially a 4-2-3-1. Its a fine line, since you look at Giggs tonight and he is attacking minded, but he also does a lot of work defensively as well, and Park and Valencia were on the wings to help out too.

If I'm not mistaken, Sneijder used to play in that central midfield position (not attacking midfield) for Ajax. He could do a job for us there. We need a, in FM's terms, 'midfield general'. Plus it does not hurt to have more creativity in the team.

That formation and tactics we played last night was perfect for a player like Sneijder, put him in Giggs position and he would have been in his element. Sod the whole "won't fit in a 4-4-2" which is bollocks anyway, he'd fit into this squad and team easily.

Aye. Just think about having someone doing what Giggsy did yesterday - spreading the passes, conducting play from deep, and joining the attack with late runs - but on a regular basis, not once a week as Ryan can do now at his age. If anything, yesterday's game is an extra incentive to get that sort of player in.

Probably Ballague.

In which case I'm off to order my "Adebayor" Real Madrid shirt o beat the rush.

Mourinho likes a target man a la Drogba. Its how his system works.

For example, in the Copa Del Rey Final Adebayor came off the bench before both Benzema and Higuain.

He's been lumbered with Benzema who I suspect he'll bin if he can, and Higuain can't play as a line leader, or seemingly notch many goals in the CL.

Adebayor or Drogba at RM next year I reckon.

Mourinho wanted 3 strikers even at the start of the season. Even if he signs Adebayor he wont be letting any of the others go.

FootballAgentPM I know the papers have already suggested this but I can confirm that #mufc will indeed make a move for Wesley Sneijder in the summer #fact

I wish that really meant something, but I could make a bid for Sneijder myself.

If we do make a bid for him, and there is a chance of him moving, you can be sure that a number of other top sides will make a move for him too - and I don't think United have the stomach for a bidding war (either via transfer fee or wages).

If we want him, the only way we get him is if he wants to move to us over anyone else, and pushes for the move himself.

I think he would rather come here than somewhere else. What other alternatives are there? I know there's always City but Sneijder seems like the type who wants to win trophies.

Man City and Chelsea two big options imo. Both could blow us out of the water financially.

Well if someone is called "FootballAgentPM" I guess we all have to assume his word is gospel.

He is Ryan Tunnicliffe's agent. Think he may be the agent of a few other lads at United too. Think he is Jordan Henderson and Joe Hart's agent too.

He he, Pogue didn't see that one coming.

True but his word still means Jack. Why would he be told when we like to keep things quiet?

All those dreaming of this (or any other big move) can forget it. We seldom sign players that are already mega stars. It's usually young players or players playing at clubs that are on the next "tier" down or below. Cases in point being VDS, Ferdinand, Berbatov etc.

He's a former Bolton player who looks after a load of players, a fair few in United Accadamy and I'm pretty sure he looks after Jack Rodwell also.
