I really don't rate Carrick, It's not rocket science. This forum is about opinions but certain 'bellends' have forgotten that.

I'm as much a Muppet as the next...er...Muppet but I'll be amazed & disappointed if people overreact if we don't sign anyone. After all, it's not as though we've struggled for success in recent times.
I'll have a couple of hours at (c) before quickly going into denial and taking up option (a).
It's not really an explanation though, why don't you rate him?

There's enough scousers sayin how crap Carrick is without us boys hammering him. He's not fancy, but he's a great player for us & a model pro for the club. As Tron says "support the jersey.."

On the other hand, I kind of hope you're right. But then, as a result of Andersons, Fletchers, and Cleverleys positive development and / or a new signing. I will be very happy with him as a backup/squadplayer though!

I could say why I don't rate Carrick? For a start, even before we get into anything, i don't think we 'need' a defensive midfielder per say. There are plenty of box to box players who offer more. I know players protect their own, but when you come to United you have to step up. A lot of fans, develop some sort of romantic notion, it's maybe homosexual but for me the club comes first. I could make a ton of points but I won't because, we can't have a debate. It just don't work.
Is Sneijder the answer? He can't hurt but for me our youth is where we are at. If we don't buy Sneijder, it won't be because we can't afford him. Players of that nature, can make the club a ton of money - but what's the point when you have quality in house? No only do you spunk 25+ million (not including wages) but you risk losing a real prospect.

I almost agree with you. I have always seen Carrick as a fringe player and I remember not too long ago many of the numpties in here giving Carrick a hard time, questioning his ability.
You are right to speak your mind and simply expressing a dislike of one or two players does not make you any less a fan of MU.
To the band wagon jumpers.......Simply saying "support the badge" is total and utter bollocks. Supporting the badge will not make United successful and we all have an equal right to question whether a player is of sufficient quality to wear the badge.
I am not a fan of Fletcher or Carrick, they are no more than squad players in my opinion. I know I am not alone amongst the adults of Redcafe as opposed to the gobby kids.
We have a need for quality in midfield and I am hopeful that we will get it from the youngsters.

FWIW I think some of Carrick's defensive screening is top drawer, yes, his passing of late has lacked any incisiveness and he appears to be a bit short of confidence. Not a great player by any means, but no dummy either - I think he's made a lot of important contributions for us.

Nonsense, you have to qualify what you say for your input to be of any value. Being happy for Carrick to be replaced with what you feel is a better player is valid but to just stroll in and say you'd be happy for arguably our best central midfielder never to play for us again with no qualification is obviously going to rile people because opinion or not it makes no practical sense.
