Wesley Sneijder

i still think we'll sign him

Two things seem clear - Inter want to sell (despite the recent statement) and we are interested

Inter are very likely to sell as they are in trouble financially (in terms of FFP) from what I've read

the sticking point is money and i can see the clubs and the player coming to a compromise......

if we dont sign him it will be because Fergie targets someone else or else thinks Pogba is ready - i dont want to sign Sneijder if it means getting ripped off

either way Fergie will do the right thing

I think the money they'll get from Eto's sale will change all that

Seems amazing that a club which won five straight league titles, the treble, the 2010 Supercoppa Italiana, and the FIFA Club World Cup should have financial problems.

What have I missed?
we had unofficial talks with the player

problem with wage demands then the club announced they were no longer interested

the issue seems to be with wages

reports that Sneijder will take a pay cut/Morratti hardens his position on the player sending message that he isnt available on the cheap

if the right compromise is made he will sign

Are they not fighting in the same corner tho?!

Personally, i still reckon we need two mid-fielders for cover & extra options. One of them has to be Sneijder, the other with a bit of muscle & good engine. feck knows if we're actually gonna sign anyone tho, so gettin your head around that is the best thing you can do, because there'll be enough doom & gloom in the papers / pundits regarding this if we lose a game, by us lacking in mid-field!

Barca have strengthened even further this year, so what exactly is our plan to accept the challenge of Barca, because its very hard to see them bricking it atm. Thats not doom & gloom either - its how i'd feel if i was a Barca player lookin around the changing room at the players they have & in walks Fabregas & Sanchez to sit at their new lockers!

We hope we won't meet them again and wait until they implode for some reason. But we should strengthen the midfield to stay ahead of the competition in England, that's the most important thing; Barcelona are out of our league, in every sense.

I haven't heard Sneijder himself state that he's happy to remain at Inter, declaring his love and the usual ''looking forward to the new season'' statements, therefore terminating all rumours of a possible switch.

Those things considered give me an ounce of hope of still signing him up.

Why not - have you seen the lad play much?

For his age, he's big & strong & has great potential, i dont see why Fergie wont give him alot of games this season, considering how many competitions we're in. Its about time we gave these young lads a chance regardless of their age!

Its not the same playing against the other reserves teams and against other first teams. He needs more experience playing against tougher teams. A full year in the Championship playing regularly would do him a world of good. He will play in the FA and CC games for us. But I can't see him getting a lot of premier league games this season. Like others have said, he is one season away from the first team.

Copycat & suckass ;)

I'd love to see him get a game in the Prem... so i can rub all your mugs innit

The truth is that Fergie does not have the funds to compete for a world class midfielder.. I still believe that if we had the funds to keep Tevez we would have won the Premiership that year and maybe even the European Cup...that's a fact.

I'd say he does have the funds, its the wages these guys are lookin for. Rooney was the exception & that i'd say, really pissed Fergie & the money-men off that they were held to ransom in such public fashion.

These guys have been earning in some cases - double wages, since the recession hit, what fecking planet do they think they're on?!

These footballing twats must understand that there's one wage-bill for City & one for the rest of us that earn our own money. I seriously dont think they understand that City are being bankrolled by these oil men & that high wages & fees are the only method City have to encourage these players. They need to wise up & get real. They earn too much as it is & we've all been sayin this for feck knows how many years & then Chelsea & City come along & make matters worse!

Phew! Thank god we didn't have the funds to keep Tevez. I couldn't have put up with him for another year.

I'll always be grateful to the Glazers for us not having the funds....and thankful to Fergie of course for seeing what a whining old woman Tevez was and kicking him into touch.

It may be a 'fact' that you hold that belief - but 'the thing you believe' is not a 'fact' itself.

The truth is, we could've saved 2 players salaries and 35m quid by being happy with Lindegaard/Amos/PIG and Smalling/Evans and not adding De Gea and Jones to the squad.

I could even include Young in that considering our wing cover.

So yes, we had money for a Sneijder, but if we don't buy him it's because SAF doesn't think one single player is worth that, not because we don't have the money.

FACT!

Yes. It's a very sweaty baby jesus. Covered in jam. Dancing the macarena. I've just worked out how to make gifs. It's amusing me.

fecksake, little amuses the innocent eh?!

I wont ask what your inspiration was to creat that gif - for fear it might incriminate you. I'm glad you didnt faux pas & get "arousing" mixed up with "amusing" tho...
