Starting to feel like we may actually not get him

:(

Real have closed the gap on Barca and we've fallen further behind this summer

Still a week to go - I suspect all parties (Inter, Sneijder, United) would be happy for this deal to happen but for financial reasons it makes no sense for any of the three to be the instigators at this stage.

If nobody makes the first move then nothing will happen and all three will simply state they were happy all along and none of us will be any the wiser.

Real have closed the gap on Barca and we've fallen further behind this summer

Come on, fallen behind! We were always going to loose the older players this season that was a given, but falling behind we haven't! We've got some potentially great players in the squad with Welbeck, Cleverley, Jones & De Gea whom we didn't have last season! Not to mention the return of Macheda & Diouf - all be it the jury's still out on those, Morrison & Pogba two kids who could easily make the step up. We still have Carrick, Fletcher, Ando (who could be on to a great season) & Giggs who can play in CM... Not exactly average players are they!

Sneijder would be a great addition to the squad, but the fact is a playmaker or a battling ball winning midfield with the quality to play for Manchester United would easily be a fine addition to our squad. Sneijder alone isn't going to change us into world beaters over night, the whole team needs to do that together. And no, i'm not a Sneijder basher, if you look back I've been one of the many hoping he comes. I just think it's time some of us appreciated what we've got and the prospect of what we could well have on our hands - A squad that is more than capable of challenging for silverware, and if Sneijder comes that's just one more added bonus.

I'm wanting an unknown player now. Someone we're not expecting, never heard of, but ends up being brilliant.

Tribal Football. The world's most reliable football website.

 yep, wouldn't believe a thing that website says. Plus they mention this Alberti spoke to TMW. Looking at TMW there's not one mention of these apparent quotes and this comes across as the sort of thing they may well want to share.

I myself swear by Tribal Football. Especially when I mistakenly click on a link leading to their website.

Is this a spoof account, i didn't know pre season involved going on your jolly's every other week.

Just arrived in Bari.

Whether we get Sneijder or not, i dont think it should deflect on how good a squad we have. Fergie can always seem to get an extra 10% or more effort, out of what the media claimed last season, as an "average squad".

Us Reds have become obessed this Summmer with building a mid-field that can cope with Barca's, of which Barca are already in this seasons Champions League final by default. I think we've covered every "great" mid-fielder in world football & we still havent signed anyone. The next couple of weeks are gonna be foooking PMS City on here, every feckers gonna either be on their period or on the receiving end of someone on their period

After the Champions League final, like most of us - i felt we are well behind Barca (in mid-field) & that bothered the feck outta me. Then the Summer kicked in & we made some good signings, coupled with another season under the belts of the younger lads in the squad, the U-18's & Reserve team squads also. There are many reasons to be very positive & if we dont win the Champions League anytime soon that'll be shit, but whats more important is that the structure of the club to keep winning things is excellent.

I am very excited about whats to come for us Reds over the next 10 years. The young players that will progress to the first team squad is better than its ever been under Fergie (bar 1992). Whats more important, is that the club can continue to sustain success & throw 2 fingers up to the ideal that football success comes in cycles. Liverpool have been used as the figurehead of that mantra, that was their time, then it was someone elses - ours.

I dont agree with that logic because Liverpool didnt plan ahead after 1990, (as most teams didnt do in previous era's) when they should have been planning ahead all along. They left it too late to replace the great players that won them so much & the conveyor belt of talent just wasnt there. Either young players weren't being given a chance or that their scouting system was well below the standards that other clubs were operating in at that time. Compare that to us & you'll see a club that builds on success & never sits back gloatin on what a great season it was - thats left to the fans to do!

The doom & gloom of the Barca defeat is a bitter one, but what most fans will agree on - is that they'd have beaten most, if not any team in that final, so we shouldnt be obsessed with them as much as we have been & just get on with what we do best - win trophies, play great football & entertain us fans.

With or without Sneijder, you need a bitta luck to win the Champions League - Barca may not need it most of the time, but that doesnt mean they're unbeatable in the near future, a near future when it could be our turn to dominate Europe.

Keep the faith & enjoy the season

That Alberti agent had also said Toni to West Ham as "100%" :(

He better be more accurate this time!

For a period in June/July, I wanted him. The fact that the stumbling block is his huge demands for wages puts me off him, and that we'll do fine without him.

We've been holding onto our hats for the last 2 months.

I still think something could happen because this story refuses to go away. It's the Berbatov saga all over again, and we all know how that turned out.

Has Berbatov featured in Tottenham's first league games before he joined us? Honest question.

Wasn't he on the bench for their one home game? Think he played away at Boro as well.

And Levy accused him of refusing to play against Chelsea and Sunderland if I remember correctly.

The Daily Star and Tribal football (who must have picked it up from the Star) seem to think we've agreed personal terms and a fee needs to be agreed.

Ah ok thanks lads.
Well so we shouldnt read too much into Inter naming Sneijder in their squad and him playing in the TIM cup I guess.

I now don't think this is about wages, despite what shite is written. I was taken in by this media bollocks about wages but having thought about it, I am not so sure.

I think this is all about the purchase price and Inter needing every penny of the deal for various reasons.

I think Sneijder set his heart on a move to Old Trafford exclusively and that frustrated Inter's attempt to pump up the price. They even try to use Shitty!

It is all a game of brinkmanship, but I am sure that SAF won't make the first move.

The Daily Star and Tribal football

Blimey, mate, we're really clutching at straws now - it'll be quotes from The Beano next. :D Still, these are the days when even respected 'black top' journalists take stories from Twitter and fake Facebook pages...

And didn't they say last week that we had agreed a fee but personal terms couldn't be agreed?

I thought we had already agreed the fee so if personal terms are now sorted then it ON!

Hence, the story is complete bullshit...

No no lads you get it all mixed up. So far we have agreed a fee for him about 30 times already. Personal terms were always the stumbling block!
