I honestly have no clue how you've decided I'm a WUM, when you've got people calling me twattinater in the same thread, and people who're posting when our match is on. Of all the inane drivel in this thread, all the twitter links which are supposed to be banned, and all the tedious muppet pictures, I'm the one whose a WUM? I don't come into wind anyone up, I come to post my opinion.

In fairness though. When you dont agree with the majority that is the conclusion many come to

This thread is turning into a bit of a farce isn't it.

Let's give it a rest until there's some legitimate news on Sneijder.

Thank god, I've been wanting to do this all week. It shouldn't be opened again until he signs for someone. Worst thread ever.

Warning: This thread is for discussion about the transfer rumour, updates, the merits of buying the player etc. It is not for cheap wums, increasing your post count and general forum type posting. Any spamming and you will lose your access to the transfer forum for good. Stay on topic!

Can a tard now bring us up to date please?

I've seen the updates only thread but it's left me none the wiser, conflicting updates...

I'd say we are no nearer/further away from a deal than we ever were.

Either you see it as no news is good news or its definitely off.

I wouldn't believe any of the 'made up' news stories/Twatter speculation, until something official comes out of the clubs ignore everything else...

Well the Sun was reporting Sneijder was willing to demand 60.000 pounds less a week to get the deal with United done.

Shortly after that Moratti was quoted in some Italien newspaper saying that Sneijer was not for sale and staying with Inter, especially now that Etoo seems to go. Sky Sports ran with that story.

All in all Sneijder's transfer was back on for about 15 mins and is now off again.

Inter star Sneijder ready to take massive pay cut to seal switch to United
Wesley Sneijder is prepared to slash his wage demands to force through a move to Manchester United.

The Inter Milan star has been linked with a move to both Old Trafford and United's rivals Manchester City.

But the midfielder appeared to have priced himself out a move by demanding £200,000 a week.
Now Sneijder is prepared to accept £140,000, a wage that would make him the second highest paid player at United, behind Wayne Rooney.

The Old Trafford club are believed to have sounded Sneijder out about a possible deal but could not agree personal terms on the £35million deal.

The Dutchman believed United would return with an improved offer but has now been forced to relent.

Sneijder claimed last week that he was keen on a move to United.

He said: ‘Manchester United haven’t made an official approach yet.
‘But there have been unofficial talks, there have been contacts. But then there are always contacts.

‘The situation is that I am now an Inter player, and chances are that I will still be that come August 31. There is also a chance I could leave.

‘That isn’t really down to me but the club. I think Inter have been very clear: if a good offer comes in, they have to let me go.

‘They don’t want to lose me but there is a chance they will let me go.‘If something crosses my path, I have enough time to make my decision.’

But Inter vice president Adriano Galliani has said that he expects Sneijder to remain at the club, especially if Samuel Eto'o joins Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala.

Galliani said: 'There has never been any sort of negotiation for Sneijder. If Eto’o leaves then Wes will remain.

'But Sneijder was untouchable even before this Eto’o discussion began. But yes, even more so now. Sneijder will stay.'

'Untouchable' Wesley Sneijder going nowhere say Inter MilanWesley Sneijder will remain at Inter Milan this summer according to president Massimo Moratti, who has described the Dutch playmaker as "untouchable".

Sneijder has been linked with a move to Manchester United and revealed at the weekend he could be sold for the right price after "unofficial talks" had begun.

Moratti has, however, denied those comments, saying there has never been any such negotiations and that Inter are not interested in selling one of their key men.

Moratti revealed his resolve to keep Sneijder has been strengthened further by the imminent departure of star striker Samuel Eto'o, who is set to join big-spending Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala.

"There has never been any kind of talks about Wes," Moratti told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"It doesn't matter whether Eto'o stays put or leaves the club.

"Sneijder was untouchable before the situation with Eto'o and he has become even more so now Eto'o could leave.

"Sneijder is going nowhere."

Moratti also confirmed speculation regarding the club's interest in Manchester City's wantaway striker Carlos Tevez, but believes any deal is unlikely as he instead looks at other options to fill Eto'o's departure.

"The names that have been mentioned are correct," he added.

"We have been following Tevez, (Ezequiel) Lavezzi and (Diego) Forlan. It will be difficult to sort an agreement for the City striker but the others we are considering.

"We'll see."

Moratti all but confirmed Eto'o would be leaving the club in the next few days, with a number of reports suggesting he will undergo a medical at Anzhi tomorrow.

"I will really miss him if everything goes ahead," Moratti added.

"Not just as a player, but also as a human being. He's a great guy and a superb player.

"He has always been an example to follow and is a real professional.

"When we get offers like this it is hard to ignore them. The financial fair play is a serious matter and we needed to consider it."

Inter stand firm on Sneijder
Moratti rules out departure for Dutchman
Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti remains adamant that Wesley Sneijder will not be going anywhere this summer.

The Dutchman has been heavily linked with a switch to Manchester United this summer and claimed last week that 'unofficial' talks had taken place with the Premier League champions.

Sir Alex Ferguson had previously tried to dismiss the speculation, while he has also made it clear he has faith in United's young players and is not planning to make further additions to the squad.

Moratti maintains there is no chance of Sneijder leaving Inter before the transfer window closes at the end of the month as he is regarded as too important a player to let go.Inter have always been determined to keep hold of the midfielder and the fact that Samuel Eto'o could be set for a move elsewhere has only strengthened their resolve.

"Sneijder away? For Wes there has never been any sort of negotiation," Moratti told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"If Eto'o leaves, he remains. Sneijder was untouchable even before this hypothesis, now it is even more so.

"Sneijder will remain."
Sky Sports

Wesley Sneijder tells Man Utd: I’ll take pay cut WESLEY SNEIJDER has slashed his pay demand to make sure the Manchester United deal goes through.

The worried Dutch star, 27, looked to have blown his chance of leaving Inter Milan by asking for £200,000 a week.

Sneijder is now prepared to slash that demand by £60,000 a week.

It would still making him the second highest paid star at United - behind Wayne Rooney on £250,000 a week.

United offered Sneijder a contract last month and Inter were happy to sell at £35million.

But the Premier League champs could not agree on Sneijder's pay.

The attacking midfielder was sure they would come back with a new offer but that has not happened.
The SUn
I could go on but everything is a variation on this, and now your up to date.

Moratti's comments are as worthless as the Custis story. Hopefully Sneijder just comes out and says "I'm staying" like he promised he would.

In other words we are no wiser about this Sneijder situation than we were 10 weeks ago.

Not exactly: this time Inter did not say they would sell him if the right offer came in. This time Moratti came out and said Sneijder was untouchable.

Basically, it's over.

I actually think that United never made an offer for him at any stage.

There must have been some initial, exploratory discussions, even if not official; there were too many rumours flying around, they can't all have been bullshit.

But it seems Fergie is determined not to buy a central midfielder ever again so he wasn't too keen on the idea of getting Sneijder in.

I've kinda changed my tune after seeing Tom play pre-season, the Community Shield & the West Brom game... if we dont sign another mid-fielder i.e. Sniejder, then i hope its because we're confident in Tom coming of age this season & not because Sneijder wanted too much dosh / Inter not willing to sell.

Its great havin a young lad like Tom come through - his character is exemplary (going from what Fergie & everyone else at the club has said) & his football brain is very much in tune with how we want to play ball. I was watchin him play & wondering - would Sneijder have done any better there? And i'm not so sure!

So i'm ok with not signing Sneijder in one sense, but on another - what if injuries pile up & we havent cover, when we had ample opportunity to sign someone during this window - that would be a little frustrating to say the least!

Not officially at least, but Sneijder has indicated some talks have already happened unofficially.

Love Cleverley the lad, but there's still a lack of certainty of bossing about midfield for him. He's still very young, and will need some time to grow. That bit of uncertainty isn't what we need right now without a midfield general of some sort.

Oh, I forgot about Pogba - that lad can play a part this year & I hope Fergie gives him a run-out asap just so he gets a feel for it. I dont think he'd look out of place at all, same as Tom's not lookin out of place either!

Cleverley is vastly more experienced than Pogba. I don't see Pogba making anymore that maybe 1 or 2 appearances this season. If any at all.

If what we are reading from the newspapers is right, then there is a world class player begging to come to us and take a massive paycut then SAF has to go fore him. He would be stupid not too.
I love players that want to play for us. Not the ones that say they do and as soon as they smell the money of chelsea and city, they piss off faster than usian bolt.

In other words we are no wiser about this Sneijder situation than we were 10 weeks ago.

Well, Now there is "circumstantial evidence" suggesting that Sneijder wants a transfer to Manchester United in such a degree that he is willing to reduce his salary substantially. This is new wisdom to me.

The question is whether our cost/benefit assessment of Sneijder meet Inter's price expectation for a top player who wants out.

We have very good options on the CM. However, we have no world class player. It will not be wrong if we have at least one player at this level to control our midfield IMO.

There's too much weight behind the story for it to be a non-story. Sneijder's tap dancing around the issue being the most compelling evidence that there was some form of contact.

Thats what we all think tbh, but what we also know is that Fergie is stubborn.. so i'm kinda gettin myself used to the idea we wont sign anyone in mid-field at all.

If you're good enough you're old enough - Cleverly's 22 years old aswell.. so he's not a kid & he's been playing first-team regularly for 2-3 seasons, more to the point!

Cleverley is vastly more experienced than Pogba. I don't see Pogba making anymore that maybe 1 or 2 appearances this season. If any at all.

Why not - have you seen the lad play much?

For his age, he's big & strong & has great potential, i dont see why Fergie wont give him alot of games this season, considering how many competitions we're in. Its about time we gave these young lads a chance regardless of their age!

I think there is obviously some substance to the story but personally, as highly as I regard Sneijder as a player, I'm no longer convinced it'll happen or that it needs to. I feel that we are not at all short in the creativity department and if Fergie is to stick to his word regarding both Cleverly and Pogba then signing Sneijder will only serve to hamper their development. We are at a point where we have to take that chance.

I still feel that we need a destroyer more than anything, and though I doubt there is much substance to them, I was more pleased to read the story regarding Tiote, rather than another Sneijder wages story. All this is making us sound like cheapskates when weare far from that.

I'm just desperate for us to sign at least one class centre midfielder.

Anyone thinking our current options are sufficient is deluded.

We have an absolutely class team and squad, and that papers over the giant cracks in midfield but this will be exposed - again and again - this season.

We may still win the League with our current MF but we will have no chance in the CL...

Playing first team for United is not the same as playing first team for a championship or lower-half table club

but you cant buy a player without actually lodging a bid. I dont believe United have actually gone that far

I think Pogba is one more season away yet. Theres a couple of good posts by Mr Mujac on the subject

Inter have come out and, yet again, said there has never been contact. Sneijder said there may have been 'unofficial' contact, but Inter are telling you there has never been any. Not official. Not unofficial. They know better than Snejder because any contact woul be with Inter. You think that if we wanted Sneijder then we'd have at least spoken to inter about what sort of money it would take to buy him. Obviously not happening and never was as far as I'm concerned.

Nah. These days, clubs sound the player and the agent out first.
