And what is Sneijder doing in Ibiza if we're supposed to be entering the final round of talks with him? These are the actions of a man that is comfortable where he is and is relaxing for the new season, not thrashing out a deal to move to England.

These are millionaire footballers mate not someone on jobseekers. They have agents and a whole team of people in some cases. Hell, there's even been some reports that their agents arrange their gardeners and shopping etc. or they have people sat on Twitter doing PR for them. So I highly doubt he will be camped outside Fergies house. If he hears something he'll go and sign if its right.

You probably think Sneijder son will be doing a paper round when he get older too!!

I go away for a week in high hopes of returning to a Red-clad Wesley and return to find he´s not coming is he? :(

I am told that there has been a break through in the Sneijder talks. Very much back on I am told and this is from the Sneijder family itself who leaked this in last 40 seconds

You will have made some nutters very happy with this kind of shite.

The question you should be asking is what is Sneijder doing in Ibiza if he's still an Inter player.....

So having done some catching up on Sneijder news, Ferguson believes Pogba´s going to be the man and buying Sneijder would restrict his development? Fair enough.

His being in Ibiza seems to indicate he's a player who is waiting for his club situation to be sorted.

I don't think it works quite like that, Ferguson wouldn't accept a player who cannot even bother to turn out to negotiate his deal because he's too busy on a yacht somewhere in Ibiza. He would have to speak to him face to face before he decides whether we can be spending £200k a week.

We're not signing him.

The player doesn't have to be on site for negotiations to take place. He can easily get updates from his agent wherever he is - whether Milan, Ibiza, or Timbuktu.

No - he's in Ibiza to take some time out and seriously reflect on where he wants to play football this season!

he cannot 'turn out to negotiate' because he would need the club's permission first.

He's not coming, I've resigned myself to that. But I also dont really feel that much sadness about it, he didnt seem like a very United like signing, a world class player that is in his prime, coming from a foreign league for big money. We just dont make those signings.

I'm happy to give the younger players the chance to prove themselves, and for some of the senior midfielders we have to step up and fill the void left *cough*Anderson*cough*

I don't think you understand me. I know full well how to read between the lines with Fergie and that he doesn't always tell the truth in order to give us a good negotiating position. I understand that. Trust me, I did it all last summer with Ozil and the previous year I was in full muppet mode for Benzema. What I'm saying is that I think he's telling the truth, for once, in this situation. It's just a hunch I've had.

Obvioulsy if you really are ITK then you are dealing with facts as you must know Fergie or Gill yourself. Unfortunately I, like everyone else, have to try and guess based on what we hear in the media and from past experience.

For what it's worth, I think we were probably very interested in Nasri.

Okay - fair enough.

I wouldn't call myself a real ITK - but I do get some stuff from the inside. Obviously can't say from who.

I have no idea from the inside whether Sneijder will come or not - Even back in May the sources at OT knew it was going to be a difficult one.

Happen to believe SAF's position is the correct one.

BTW Sneijder has played everything cagily this summer. FWIW him coming out last week and doing that interview is not like him at all. The fact that Van Der Vaart came out and said he wants to move, and Sneijder himself admitted it a day later in a video interview indicates to me that emotionally he had made his mind up.

Now a case of getting the best deal for him. This is (to my reading) why OT have put the ball firmly back in the Sneijder camp (i.e. your move next, not ours!) From our point of view we're publicly ruling it out. If you want to move you've got to stop being silly.

If things do budge then SAF can always say:-

"He was on an amazing contract at Inter - one that we couldn't get anywhere near - it's a testament to the lad that he gave up all of that and made a move for football reasons. It shows how desperate he was to be here....."

This way we can all support him in full voice...

I firmly believe he'll come - but I am an optimist...

 unofficial contact. What is that? Did Inter have a missed call from David Gill or something?

I saw what he said in that interview. He dismissed it and said there was nothing happening, but that there might have been 'unofficial contact'. That could mean anything. He clearly didn't intend to say that we were after him though as his stance all along has been that he doesn't know anything about it, only what the papers have said.

An unofficial approach is usually when clubs use agents or ex-players to ask about the availability and price of a player. This is crucial to plan their summer/winter actions and happens regularly. Here in Hungary there's 3-4 similar enquiry about every usable player at the club where I work in and before every transfer season.

Yeah, I don't believe this is over either. I think one side will budge, just don't know which one though.

I've put that question to him but am still to see an answer

Apologies, I don't sit in front of a computer all day. I'll apologize in advance for tomorrow too, I might not reply to you because I'll be at the game. I know you'll keep this thread ticking over nicely though, as you seem to have no interest in anything other than our transfers.

Yeah but it's standard procedure for players to be chilling out on a 5 day vacation in Ibiza during pre season training.

Our players are often allowed to holiday during pre-season if they've not had a proper break in a while. Sneijder has played a lot of football over the last couple of years. Plus theres his anemia. I don't think theres anything to see here.

And pocco, Sneijder won't be sitting and discussing terms with our reps himself. That's the job of his Agent. I'd be more worried if his Agent/reps were holidaying in Ibiza.

I know. It was a comment that I just thought I'd make, though it obviously proves nothing either way. I just thought he might be a bit more involved if we're supposed to have spoken to him a couple of times already this week.

Not really. He misses a relatively high number of matches every season as has been pointed out in this thread.

And I'm pretty sure he's not taking a 5 day break because of his anemia.

Our players are allowed to holiday during pre season yes but not after they've already had a long break and then returned to pre season training.

Fair enough, it doesn't really prove anything. To me it indicates that a transfer isn't high on his agenda right now. But read into it what you will..

I feel like we're going to cover old ground again if I start talking about him missing games etc., so I will leave it there for now. I don't want him here and you do. We'll just have to see what happens.

Rooney just RT'd this Tweet directed at him

igaphilip iga philip
@WayneRooney i hate you please allow for your sale,u are the stumbling block to @sneijder101010 comin to Man Utd,arrogant bustard

Can you please post this stuff in the Twitter thread.

The ever reliable Howard Nurse says that we won't give in to Sneijder's wage demands. I swear he just seems to say whatever the Papers/ITK's are saying.....around 24 hours too late.

Didn't he also say that we had absolutely no interest in Sneijder?!

Tbh every transfer thread is plagued with this shit nowadays. I don't even go into the twitter one

I reckon our midfield performances over the next few weeks might determine if we're willing to take negotiations any further.

Agree, the next 3 games will determine if we buy or stick.
Which is wrong really. Although we often struggled in midfield last season, we still won the league and I believe we will do so again whether we strengthen midfield or not. It's in the Champions League where Sneijder would push us up a level.
