Wesley Sneijder

It really is all down to one player then is it? Never mind the fact that when we actually did when the CL in 1999 neither Keane or Scholes were in the team? What happens if we sign Sneijder and he's injured when we play Barca? However will Tom Cleverely get through the game?

Winning the CL final with 2 goals in dying minutes was down to pure luck and Bayern's arrogance of pulling Lothar Mattheus off thinking that the CL was already in the bag. We played horribly that night.

A player like Sneijder will not only improve the squad but will have the potential to help the kids develop as Keane did with Scholes and Ince/Robson did with Keane (in a certain way). I don't know what you think but I think that CM should have been given higher priority then defense and the left flank.

Yep.. He'll have learn't soo much from being in Sneijder's presence that Xavi and Ineista won't concern him!!:smirk:

Why have a lot of people suddenly accepted that it isn't happening then?

It's all a big cycle. In a few days some website will say we're about to sign him everyone will have their cocks out again. Then a few days later we'll be back to everyone saying we wont. Then repeat again.

Don't be daft.

Im not daft, Im being realistic. I think that our defense can keep their forwards at bay and our forward line can knock their defense out. The problems lie in CM. That's the position that needs to be strengthened.

Due to an unconfirmed tweet by some one person saying Fergie said that we're not signing anyone.

And even if he did say that, I'm not sure there's any point really even believing what Fergie says anyway.

Don't worry there's nothing Sneijder can do that Carrick can't emulate. :smirk:

Ferguson said no more signings, WR8 is twitching in a corner saying "lies, it's all lies" whilst the rest of us rejoice at the news.

:wenger::rolleyes:. Whats the rejoice?!!

Some people on here i swear..

Give Phelans Shorts some extra Number 1 fan brownie points!!

He's been saying it so many times that I won't be surprised if its true.

It wasn't down to 'pure luck' and it should show you that events in real football aren't dictated by something as banal as signing one player or not.

If you actually read interviews with Scholes, he always cites Cantona as his big influence btw.

With regards to what I think, I'm looking forward to United players doing what they always do which is to step up and prove people wrong as always. I'm particularly looking forward to seeing Anderson getting a run of games. It really is his time - he could really seize both United's and Brazil's midfields and make them his own this year. Even without Roy Keane beside him.

I really couldn't agree more Devilish. A new CM should have been a priority some while ago

Said the same thing last year tbf. Most of the kids played exactly the same as the year before.

Well he's changed from "not interested at all" at the start of the US tour to "it's not easy" sometime later so I'm not sure I believe him.

Sneijder's on a 5 day holiday in the middle of pre season and we're obviously interested and having talks so I'll continue to believe until September 1st or Sneijder himself stops saying "there's been unofficial contact with United" ;)

Anyway I made my point and there is little to add to it. I wish to see us add a quality CM because that is in my opinion the only position that really need to be strengthened (in a team in which I believe to be a magnificent side).

Aye, it's what I've been waiting to hear ever since this Sneijder nonsense started. Is it true that he said Pogba is in the first team squad too?

That's a hopeful way of looking at it. In reality, they are superior in a few areas and we just have to accept that at the moment. It won't always be the case and we can still build to be the club to replace them at the top when they decline. That's why youth is the way forward!

So your entire season is dominated by ONE game which may not even happen?

We won the League last year but our midfield was and has been a weak point for a while now.

We have a fantastic defense, a fantastic attack and the best set of wingers in the League but our Central Midfield is probably the weakest among the top 4-5. It's the only real weakness in the team and we do lack some creativity in the middle of the park.

I think that apart from CM they are massively overrated. They are a tough nut to crack but they are not unbeatable.

I'm just trying to get my head around whats being said here.

So basically, we're fecked because we haven't got any world class CM's, seems to be the line here.

In the treble winning season we had Scholes and Keane, OK

But didn't we win the CL final that year with them both suspended ?

and haven't we made it to 3 finals in the last 4 years?

I have some faith in SAF doing what HE thinks is needed. Yes, we got hammered by Barca, I'm sure SAF is hurting as well, but he'll improve us how he thinks, not how we might think

Shut it down captain.

I'm afraid the original leak was from a guy who works for MUTV.
Sorry WR8.

But may I add.....

Hail the King baby.

You're really becoming a caricature of yourself

Lock this thread so we can all be freed from it's grip.

He did comment on Pogba, he's been training with the first team and being on the peripheries of the first team squad, which is a good sign.

That's good news. It's shaping up nicely this season, I'm looking forward to it. There's nothing better than see one of the younger players break through and now there's a few with a very good chance of doing so.

The muppets may be reeling right now, but soon enough they'll see why we didn't splash out when they're all drooling over the likes of Pogba and Morrison in our midfield.
