Wesley Sneijder

Those looks like the most transparent planted articles I've ever read. Which is encouraging if you want him to sign, as it shows that the negotiations are still very much alive.

Yeah, I thought the same. It looks very much like a plant to try light a fire under Inter. I just can't see how it would make sense for City to buy him when they seem to be getting Nasri. So you'd think they don't have much in the way of options, beyond keeping him or hoping someone else makes a late play for him.

But IF it somehow is true we should have a last go for Nasri.

Well if he does sign it should be on our terms - I still think a deal will be reached

Inter need to sell to sort out their wage bill and there seems to be a lack of interest from other clubs

I think Sneijder has hinted he fancies united...

If it is meant to be it will happen

I'm just not bothered anymore (and unlike United's briefings, that isn't just a negotiating tactic). If he signs, great, but I'd happily watch Cleverley and Anderson emerge as the future of our midfield.

City and Sense don't really go together though

Part of chelsea's success was down to paying more for united targets (cech, robben, essien)

I seem to recall SAF or Gill saying something about having alternatives lined up a few weeks ago...hopefully if we're not interested in him anymore we have our eye on others. The fact we were interested should mean there's a decent amount of money to sign another option or 2.

I'm completely baffled by all the stories from all over the place.
I just wish Fergie or Sneijder would say that they're either coming or not!

One, we would not have anything to talk about if they did and two, they do not want to break the suspense that is just engulfing us this summer. Its like Harry Potter fans trying to figure out what is going to happen in the last book and you are asking J.K. Rowling to just come out and say what happens. I have no clue why I just spoke about Harry Potter. I think I am drunk.

If we've waited so long, I don't really think we are looking at alternatives. Those articles are clearly a message from United to Inter/player that we'll walk away if the money is too much. Frankly, I'm bored with the whole thing. Just tell them: Now or never, period.

Unfortunately, I expect this to drag on until the end of the window, when he does sign.

Newbies just broke 17k. The rate they're going they'll be on 20k by sunday.

Yeah it is getting dragged out now. I think if Nasri seals the deal to City we will be back for Sneijder before the 1st.

What's Rooney on at OT? If we caved to his demands would Sneijder be the best played player at the club?

Rooneys on 180k isn't he?

To be fare i shouldn't see why Sneijder and Rooney shouldn't be on the same wage. I think we hit the 200k with Roo.

Am I only one that doesn't beleive all the media stuff about Rooney being on £180k + a week? I personally think its just typical media sensationalism.

The media actually have him down as getting 250k pw, it's just recent posts on the CAF that's he's on 180k which made me ask the question

I just don't believe that for a second. It's typical media bullshit imo.

None of us or the media really know how much we are paying him!

I agree, so it begs the question if Rooney is on 180k and Sneijder wants 200k then you can totally understand the clubs stance

#MUFC say they don't expect to sign Wesley Sneijder. Leaves a lot of unanswered questions, but club are emphatic bit.ly/rrf8Ec

I just don't care anymore.

EDIT - beaten to it EDIT - twice.

That article is bollocks to be fair.

It reads like it is based on new information but if you actually read what it is based on, it's quotes from a couple of weeks ago. He then goes on to back it up by that old nonsense about us "Not signing players over the age of 26", "Berbatov was the exception".

Basically, the Sneijder stories are getting hits so they are being told to write about them and with very little news at the moment, they're making it up as usual.

I still see this happening, all the signs are there to see, there is no way we would have got to the point of contract negotiations if we hadn't sent out feelers before hand and didn't believe he was in our price range.

EDIT - This sums up Taylor's journalistic ability: Guardian's Daniel Taylor doesn't deserve to write about Manchester United

Completely. I'd hate to see the club be held randsom by a player, no matter how good he is.
