Fergie, asked if there are any more transfers this summer "No, I don't think so"

Just like Carrick and Rafael were never going to be fit by this weekend eh?

Fergie is hardly going to reveal our transfer deals on TV or to the press, the best answer is to say 'no' and close the door on any further questions. If nothing happens this week then I doubt we will sign Sneijder.

Fergie was asked by ITV whether we can expect any more business and he said "No, I don't think so".

I think our performance today will either get us Sneijder for cheap, or kill the deal.. It all depends on how much Inter needs the money..

My prediction: wr8_utd will commit suicide on the first of September..

He doesn't like anyone commenting on Sneijder during, just before or just after United games.

Actually when he says this sort of thing, he usually means it.

Perhaps but it's also exactly the type of thing you'd expect him to say if he also just about to partake in a very high profile transfer. So it's certainly open to interpretation in that sense.

He's just not going to say "yes we're signing more."

Watch Chelsea come into the fray soon-ish. My ITK sense tells me so.

Still think we'll get him though.

In-demand midfielder Wesley Sneijder claims Inter Milan will sell him for the right price, but denies speaking with Manchester United or Manchester City.

Sneijder claims Serie A giants Inter "need money" in the latest twist in the ongoing transfer saga, with the Holland international their most valuable asset.

It will take a mammoth offer, though, and 27-year-old Sneijder plans to take a break after the Netherlands' friendly against England at Wembley while his future is decided.

"All I know is that Inter need money and that I'm for sale if the right offer comes in," Sneijder told Voetbal International.

"I have five days off after the friendly against England on Wednesday. I expect clarity on my future by then.

"I can be very brief about the interest from Manchester United and City - I haven't spoken with either of those two clubs, so I can't really say much about my future at the moment."

United are thought to have courted the former Real Madrid man all summer, while City boss Roberto Mancini has denied having any interest.

Here you go mate.

Actually when he says this sort of thing, he usually means it.

Said it last year and then went and signed Bebe. It's simple really : when you have players of that calibre available you go out and buy them.

Sneijder will be Bebelicious.

Has Ferguson ever said we're done in the market and gone and splurged mega bucks on a player though? Any time he's lied about future investment the fees haven't been excessive. Or have they?

wr8 - Do you always get this excited at transfer season or is it just Sneijder?

This summer has just been more boring than usual with a lack of quality football and with Djokovic destroying Nadal. Sneijder has been a good (world class) distraction ;)

For what it's worth, admittedly not much, the inter forums seem quite resigned to losing him.

They know they must sell to survive and this year they are sacrificing sneijder after doing the same with ibrahimovic 50m two years ago and balotelli 32m last year.
Now whether sneijder is joining us or someone else, that's another story, but he ll leave inter for sure.

sometimes i get the feeling that fergie doesn't really want him. The transfer fee and wages are the most logical reasons for this. Yolanthe can be another reason. Fergie is not very keen about celebrity wives - victoria beckham is a case in point.

On the other hand, there were too many people close to fergie who publicly praised sneijder - scholes, neville, crerand just to name three. So there must be some interest in the player for sure

Was just listening to Talk Sport and some geezer said that although Sneijder is a fabulous player he would cost United the best part of £80 million over five years.

After watching Cleverly this afternoon it makes you think is it worth it, also would United just not be better off trying to pick up younger emerging talents such as the Danish kid at Ajax that City went for instead of paying through the roof for the finished product.

I know i get a lot more satifaction seeing the like of Hernandez, Smalling, Jones, Cleverley, Pogba, the Silva's etc coming through.

So we are second to Barcelona, so what!
