Wesley Sneijder

unless we think the likes of Morrison and Pogba can step up to the first team, we will need another midfielder.

I think we will get another midfielder for sure.

Weren't you just implying in another thread Cleverly should be good enough?

Modric desperately wants to play for Chelsea, it hasn't happened yet, stop talking nonsense.

Tottenham aren't keen on selling Modric, they overvalue his price tag, Chelsea don't want to be held hostage.

Inter want to cash in on Sneijder, they've determined an asking price that is easily reachable by all potential suitors, Sneijder wants a big fat pay check opposed to a pay cut at United.

I hope you can see the difference in the situations. Let me know if I can dumb-it-down any further for you.

I think the Cleverley hype is going overboard and some are putting unfair expectations on the lad. He played very well today and I am excited to see him make a mark on the team this year, but lets wait until 6 months worth of Prem football has been played and see how he is doing then.

Having said that I don't think Sneijder is what we need, I think Sahin and Vidal were great options but they have gone, and like Ekeke I have felt from the start that Banega would be just what we need and I'd still take Nasri.

I admit I wanted an out and out creator as well, however Cleverley, Anderson and Giggs between them can cover us in the league for that this season hopefully, but we lack a deeper playmaker with mobility who can dictate a game as well as get stuck in a bit.

Mancini has denied any interest. If he was interested he'd be talking about it anywhere and evrywhere possible.

Is it not by coincidence that City have come into it after Sneijder was frustrated on the weekend? I'd say its very much a case of Inter trying to get rid of him asap and us taking our time in deciding what we want. Effectively they're trying to force our hand sooner then we would have liked so that they can purchase a replacement before the league gets too far into full swing and they have to bed in another player.

Yes. Haven't you seen all the interviews he gave regarding Aguero and Nasri? Mancini wouldn't keep quiet if they were in for Sneijder.

Are you aware you've posted more than double than anyone else in this thread? You'll hit 500 soon.

Stop.

It's not unthinkable that they will enter this race, nor is it unthinkable that they will eventually get him. We've been linked with him strongly for over a month and nothing has happened which is a solid indication that we're not willing to surrender to Inter's and Sneijder's demands, City won't have any problem with that and in the end money is an issue both for the club and the player.

I don't think we'll get him after all, if we really wanted him that badly we would have sealed the deal by now instead of waiting for God knows what.

I had a premonition the other day that he was signing on August 13th. You heard it here first.

Yep, 5 pages or so ago and the consensus was to ignore it.

I'm sure some will get another 10 pages out of these quotes.

Dutch midfielder Wesley Sneijder says Inter Milan are willing to sell him for "the right amount".

The 27-year-old has been linked with a move to Manchester clubs United and City, although both have denied having made an approach for the player.

"All I know is that Inter need money and apparently I'm for sale for the right amount," he told Voetbal International magazine.

"I've not spoken with City or United so I cannot say anything about my future."

He added: "Next week I play with the Oranje [Dutch national side] against England and then I have five days off. I hope that then everything will be cleared up."

Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport reported on Friday that City had signed the midfielder.

City boss Roberto Mancini dismissed the reports following his side's 3-2 defeat to United in the Community Shield on Sunday.

"No," he said. "It is not true. He is an Inter Milan player. We never spoke about him."

However, the former Inter manager did state that he was looking to add to his personnel before the close of the summer transfer window.

"We need to complete our squad," said the Italian.

"We have another 23 days until the end of the market in order to achieve the target we had at the start of pre-season."

In July, United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said his club had "no real interest" in signing Dutchman Sneijder.

His comments followed reports that claimed a deal of around £35m had been agreed between United and Inter, with Sneijder accepting terms on a £190,000-a-week contract.

Sneijder scored from a free-kick at the weekend in his side's 2-1 defeat by city rivals AC Milan in the Italian Super Cup.

Rumour has it Hitler opened fire againts Poland

Been away this weekend, but did anyone pick up on the quote from Mancini:

"They are a strong team, they won the Barclays Premier League and have bought four or five good players."

OK, OK, maybe i'm clutching on straws here. Does Mancini know something we don't? Or is he just really bad at Math?

There's no doubt for me that he'll end up at Manchester City.

Mancini has already said he hopes to add 2/3 others, why wouldn't he be interested in Sneijder?

I think he wants Nasri instead. He has made no secret of his interest in him.

I'm sceptical as to why exactly Sneijder said the things he did - he could have just carried on with his "we'll see" discourse but he chose not to. Perhaps under encouragement or even instruction by whoever is interested in him?

Ian McGarry speaks a large amount of rubbish. I'm putting him in the category of known bullshitters in my "prestigious list"

I'd like to think he wants the situation cleared as soon as possible. This whole saga has gone on for too long now.
With that statement he's putting pressure on those who are after him.

Cant see us paying more than 35million. Looks like City could hijack this deal with a tasty salary offer.
