OliverKay on his webchat regarding Sneijder

I still don't think we're prepared "to push the boat out far enough". Maybe if he were a Spurs player, we have a habit of pushing it far with them.

Are the boys back in pre-season training yet... Are the boys back in pre-season training yet... Are the boys back in pre-season training yet... Are the boys back in pre-season training yet... I just don't think we'll maintain an interest in him, if we couldn't afford him.

Inter have made it clear that they want Manchester United target Wesley Sneijder to remain at San Siro.

The Dutchman’s future is in some serous doubt as he continues to be linked with the Old Trafford outfit.

“Is he leaving? Yes, for training…” smiled Inter director Ernesto Paolillo. “Joking aside, Sneijder is an integral part of our squad.

“A lot of what you read in the newspapers about this situation doesn’t correspond with reality,” the official added.

“When it comes to Sneijder, it is our full intention that he stay here with us.”

United are apparently ready to offer around £30m for the former Real Madrid man who arrived at Inter in 2009.

Sneijder has been tested in a central midfield role by new Inter boss Gian Piero Gasperini in his 3-4-3 system.[/QUOTE]

making things clear has not been any sides priority in this saga

Obviously not clear enough when first posted at 1107, then?

To be honest I'll take what the Italian clubs say with a pinch of salt. They have already said if the fee is right....

And you calling Berbatov Berbaflop.

Not Berbaflop but Barbie. Anyway 30m for one good season (despite not making it even on the sub bench in the CL final) is not actually value isn't it? Especially since SAF may well end up selling him up. Anyway my 'everyone made mistakes here apart from me' comment was filled with sarcasm. I thought everyone could figure that out.

If we get the £18m being reported, then £12m for all he achieved with us is good value indeed.

That's called "resale value" and it's what Ferguson talks about all the time.

I understand and agree with your point. On the other hand you can hardly say that a 30m rated player was a success just because he had 1 good season (in which he couldn't make it in the CL final as a sub) with us can't you? I think that the one season wonder tag is more appropriate in this case.

I didn't say he was a success, nor did you argue that he wasn't a success.

You simply said that he hasn't been good value and I argued that a net spend of £12m on him would be good value.

I get so many questions about Wesley's future.. But sorry guys I don't know what's happening.. Time will tell!!

There will be no serious movement, if any, until next week. That is all I'm confident of in this saga.

all i can say this saga will just continue to drag on till the end of august and we may not even know for sure by then if we signed sneijder either.

The best bet seem like he be staying at Inter though.

Blimey, Wes hasn't even told Mrs Wes. The cad!

I just explained what I wanted to say

oh please roll on the end of August...so we can put this to bed and get on with the season without him!!

Once we beat the likes of City, Spurs and Arsenal with the midfielders we already have, at the end of August we'll all be wondering why we spent so much worry about Wesley will he or wont' he ....

Alternatively, our disappointing away form could continue on from last season where midtable sides overrun our midfield.

We have a great squad, but it would be naive to think that our midfield doesn't need improving, especially if we wish to continue our great European run in recent seasons.

A common sense opinion.

What if our midfield has improved? Maybe Anderson gets better or Cleverley and Pogba push on.

Maybe so, but I can't really see Fergie letting this problem go unresolved. With all the talk of signing Sneijder, the name Anderson seems to have been forgotten. I expect big things from him this year such as improved concentration and a willingness to lead. His goals towards the end of last season will have boosted his confidence. It's time for him to repay Fergie's faith and patience.

Tom Cleverley's experience at Wigan will stand him in good stead. He can only improve as part of the first team squad and has proved that he's willing and able to get stuck in. A great prospect and he's home grown. You want lads in there who'll fight for the shirt and his team mates through loyalty and love for the club and not just a big pay packet. That's the United way.

Can't argue with that. I don't want to see us getting laced in the EC final again either but don't you think that Anderson and Cleverley can make the difference between this year and last? Bringing in a big name is all well and good but if Ando and Cleverley perform to the best of their abilities, then we ought to go with them.
