Wesley Sneijder

He says "I don't know" surely I don't know means he could be playing for us, if there wasn't a possibility he'd just say, no!? He said no a while back, now it's I don't know... soon it'll be yes?

You're forgetting the bit where he said it's paper talk.

Three interviews about Sneijder and three times he's denied anything is happening with him.

As much as I'd love Sneijder here isn't doesn't look like it's gonna happen.

He has been asked a question about Sneijder on 3 occasions, and on each one has refused to rule it out. "I am not interested in signing Sneijder, I don't want to sign Sneijder, and we won't be signing Sneijder." End of speculation. Hasn't happened.

he also said we are not interested and loads of nonsense during the US tour with asked about sneijder...

If he comes out and says hes interested, we all know Mancini and the blue bastards will butt in and offer astronomical wages and try and knick him. He's hardly going public about interest in one of the best ( and therefore most desirable) CMs in world football.

The Berbatov thing is really fecking odd the more I watch it. The first time I watched it, I could clearly understand what she was saying even with the reporter in the background and her English is fine, so I dont know if he misunderstood, although nobody knows but SAF.

When was the last time Ferguson joked about a player leaving? There's no other way of interpreting the question either (i.e. could Berbatov get into their team etc), it was fairly straightforward and regardless, why would SAF comment on such speculation anyway?

As odd as I find it, the only reason he gave that answer was because he misunderstood the question.

That's clearly not the reason.

Huge rumours of our interest in him and Mancini is going to watch an interview with Ferguson and say "Oh well if he isn't really interested maybe I won't bother."

Don't be daft.

I have no doubt whatsoever that if we make a genuine offer for him, Moratti will be the first one to Fax City and let them know they are welcome to Gazump us.

I'm still remaining positive (I'm a muppet and proud) but Fergie, when asked, could have just said no comment couldn't he? He's flatly denied any interest in Sneijder on multiple occasions now.

SAF answered the interviewer in a totally serious fashion; it's only when he said "No problem" that he started to smile.

Alternatively, he could have taken the question to mean 'Could Berbatov's style of play suit playing for PSG?'/'Has Berbatov got the ability to play for PSG?'

"Could Berbatov play with Paris?"

"Oh yeah, no problem"

Anyone disagree with that? He probably hasn't even seen The Mirror.

Yeah. Its hard to try and get answers simply though his body language thoug..

Is this a serious post? Why on earth would SAF want to talk about whether or not Berbatov would get into a team he's linked with? He's never done it in the past and we all know he's very cryptic when it comes to discussing transfers with the media.

He wasn't discussing a transfer, dummy.

Nah. He said "It's newspapers whose talking, we've not said anything" - It was a cleverly avoided question. Again, he's hardly going to say 'Yes I see him playing for Man United', Fergie knows what he's doing.

That's clearly how he answered the question, he was being facetious (hence the cheeky smile).

I think people are making far too much of a quick answer given to a question in accented broken English. For anyone who watches the manager's press conference you'll note he regularly mishears questions from English journos so it would be easy for him to misinterpret a question from the lady who interviewed him tonight. He probably thought she was asking if Berbatov could've played tonight or something.

As if Sir Alex would broadcast to the world that Berba was going so casually. Has he ever treated any player even those he's fallen out with like that? C'mon people don't be daft lets talk about Sneijder since this is the Sneijder thread and leave the twitterverse to speculate on Berbatov.

That being said seeing how Cleverley's evolving what need is there to talk about Sneijder. I'd be happy seeing Cleverley do a Wilshere for us and he more than looks like he's got the goods based on his last two outings.

I think you are correct. This forum is nuts.

Oh, ok, sorry smartarse. He'd just casually answer whether one of our players has ability to play with a team he's been linked with, in such an upbeat fashion. Right-e-o then.

I suggest you watch the video again. He just did.

Nah, I'm good. If this is the case then I'd imagine Berbatov is feeling slightly ticked off right now.

I wonder if SAF would talk about Javier Hernandez fitting in at Madrid in the same fashion?

I am sure he is. Imagine his manager saying he could "play for 'Paris', no problem." A damning indictment of his ability.

Fitting in? What are you babbling about?

Maybe because it isn't happening? Just a thought

Yeah, err, not quite, but good try. Just the fact that Berbatov has a lot speculation surrounding his future and his manager candidly talking about him being linked with another team to the media is hardly going to help.

Well you're the one that seems convinced that Ferguson was asked whether Berbatov could play with PSG i.e. fitting in the team. Its not hard to understand what I'm saying, but I'm more than happy to help you out if you need it :)

Except that he didn't. Not even close. You really should watch it again.

He was asked if Berbatov could play with Paris. Seriously, give it another whirl. Won't take a minute.

There's another story on the Mirror website. Something along the lines of "Sneijder has a week to decide whether he wants to join United."

Look, we're just going round in circles. If you ask me, I think Ferguson had to have misunderstood the question and made a joke out of it. Thats my opinion; problem is we wont know for sure until he clarifies his comment.

Yeah, you might be right. Personally, I don't believe it warrants clarification.

Fergie knew what she was trying to ask but answered her question that she actually asked through poor English. He was taking the piss a bit.

I think she asked 'Can Sneijder play in Manchester', or something like, and he gave a proper answer. Perhaps it's more telling that he dodged the Berbatov one.

So those Fergie quotes I put up some hours ago weren't fake then eh. Just misinterpreted

Sir Alex Ferguson plays down Wesley Sneijder talk - ESPN Soccernet

Sir Alex Ferguson has again hosed down talk of a deal for Inter Milan midfielder Wesley Sneijder, insisting he does not know anything regarding the mooted move.

Sneijder has been linked to Manchester United throughout the current transfer window, but Ferguson was coy when asked directly about the Netherlands international agreeing to move to Old Trafford.

"I don't know anything because it is all newspapers. Newspapers talk this way, but we have not said anything," he told Direct 8.

The Scot, however, did confirm that Dimitar Berbatov may depart the Premier League club, bound for newly-rich Paris St Germain. When asked whether the Bulgarian striker would join the Ligue 1 side, Ferguson replied: "Yes, he might. That's possible."

Meanwhile, the United boss said he was pleased with certain aspects of his side's performance as a Manchester United XI went down 8-2 in Marseille.

"Marseille in the second half were very good; they played well, some good goals. In the first half, we played well," he added. "Marseille were much more experienced, and more of a team. But I'm happy."

Paying attention to anything Sarni says about transfers is a bad idea.

Yes, because I have been so wrong so far and what I said there was just outrageous,

We are going to sign two or three £40m midfielders and NEVER sell anyone.

Perhaps SAF is just considering a broadening of revenue streams. A DVD release.

"Dimitar does Paris Hilton - one night only". They could play together, no problem...

Yeah you predicted that we'll go for Stekelenburg and not De Gea as it'll be too expensive for us. You also predicted that we'll go for Charlie Adam. Whenever we're linked with a big name player, you've an habit of coming into threads and telling us "muppets" there's no chance in hell we're gonna sign that player. So yeah, it's not outrageous to say that you've been acting like a pessimist in the transfer forums for far too long.

Was also thinking about that. Great minds and all that.
