Wesley Sneijder

The delusion in this thread is unreal. We'd be having a good laugh at RAWK if they came up with this one. It's crazy how everyone that matters is denying that there is a deal, nor that we have even spoken about sneijder, yet we are finding different ways to interpret it so that is suits us. It's like one massive conspiracy theory. Fergie and Gill must be having a right laugh at some of the things they've heard being said about this one.

From where?

Inter Milan.

There is no deal in place yet and I think it's unlikely to happen but I'm starting to think there might be a tiny chance, simply because the speculation refuses to disappear and not one of the people who matter ruled a transfer out. At least not definitively. There was always that "anything could happen" thing.

Am I the only one who hopes we don't sign him?

You think our midfields fine for this season, or good enough to go one step further in the CL? I fdon't. We need someone special in the middle of the field, thats evident not only against Barca but away from home in the league where weve struggled also.

No I feel we need to add a midfielder but what I think we need is some some bite in the centre of the park. Creatively I think we are fine thoughout the team. I'd much rather see us buy a player ala De Rossi or even a Banega who has a mixture of both.

Fair point. I think Fletcher can provide that 'bite' youre talking about though, we missed him massively at the end of the season. However if a player like Sneijder is on the table you don't turn a player of his calibre down, would add more creativity from the centre of the park than Gibson, Carrick, Fletcher and Anderson for sure.

Ya we did but this virus is a worry no doubt, look you definitely won't find me complaining if we do buy him but I just feel our inability to stop opposing teams from playing is our main problem. A kind of player who wouldn't think twice about hauling a player down and taking a yellow for the team when the situation arose.

That was epic on that night. I sat up waiting for the official confirmation until god knows what time in the morning. I couldn't sleep until I heard it confirmed.

I was awake till around 5:30 am waiting for official confirmation. Crazy night!

It was a bad day too , I thought we were certain to get him until City stepped in. Then Fergie kidnapped him. !! I was in the newbies at the time and it was chaotic. Good fun though

That Berbatov thread is eerily similar to this Sneijder one.

feck it, I'm willing to disregard my opinion of him not fitting into our midfield with our current personnel due to the sheer epicness of this transfer.

So is it done yet? Come on SAF, and the majestic David Gill, sign the lad up, he's clearly what we* need.

*might mean us, The muppets

I really wish this thread has a similar ending to the Berba thread

What, a months worth of seamingly endless pain, before ruining several days work by staying up to approximately 7 AM to get the eventual, slightly unnecessary official confirmation? Yeah, that'd be swell!

I went through the exact same thing myself.

It was undoubtably the best last day to a transfer window ever. So many twists and turns.

Milan Star Dreams of United, Part II.

How that managed to end up on MUTV and all over the papers i'll never know.

AC Milan superstar Kaka admits he'd welcome a move to Manchester United.

The Sun says Kaka's minders held talks with United yesterday over personal terms.

Kaka, 27, has already spoken of his affinity for United, saying: “They have some great players in Giggs and Scholes and especially Wayne Rooney.

“One of my best friends, Anderson, is also there — how can anyone say no?

“They are the English and European champions and a great club to play for.”

At the start of last season everyone said we may do okay in the league but, come CL we'll be shown up. We ran into a class Barca side but, the skepticism people had about us being able to play against most top sides was hardly justified. Our CM had some real poor games and also played really well in others.

Our away home form was atrocious and maybe a lot of it stemmed from midfield but, that was a CM that was being chopped and changed around. With a Sneijder coming in that's only going to become worse.

If we start with a CM of Carrick/Anderson as our first choice for most games and thrown in Fletcher in a CM 3 or Giggs with Cleverly as a backup, I think we'll do a lot better than the constant different partnerships.

That said - rotation and depth has been the bedrock of our success. It doesn't breed great consistency in terms of performances by individuals but, it does do the job for us in the league. Hopefully with a bit of luck with no injuries this season for Ando and simply by playing well, SAF won't tinker as often with the CM we'll be a lot better than we were away from home.
