So, now we're doubting his ability based on an average performance in a pre-season friendly against a (regrettably) good City side?

Does that mean Rooney's a waste of money for his lacklustre display last night?

Interesting comments from him.

Just watched that City game and he was rather poor. But preseason is just training.

Wesley Sneijder conceded anything can happen in football as speculation over his future continues to simmer.

Manchester United have continually been linked with an approach for the Inter Milan schemer as they look for a long-term successor to Paul Scholes, with some reports in Sunday's press claiming a firm offer has been lodged.

Speaking in the aftermath of his side's 3-0 defeat to Manchester City at the inaugural Dublin Super Cup, the midfielder insisted he was happy in Italy but refused to rule out a move to the Premier League.

"What will happen? We'll see. There is always a chance that something will happen, but we will see," he said.

"I've played in many competitions. I started in Holland, then played in Spain and now the Italian league, and I'm still here.

"We will see what happens but I'm happy here."

Sneijder insists the persistent speculation over where his future lies is not something which overly concerns him given it is something he has grown accustomed to over the years.

"There is always speculation," he added. "I've said before, I've played for almost 10 years at the highest level and every year there is speculation.

"As you can see, I'm still here. I'm always happy. I'm a happy guy. I'm just happy to train every day with my colleagues and to train every day and to play my game for the fans."

Sneijder admits he was impressed by a Manchester City side who claimed an eye-catching victory courtesy of goals from Mario Balotelli, Edin Dzeko and Adam Johnson.

He said: "They are a great team, they have great individual players and even as a team they are very good. They play very compact very strong. They are quite a good team."

They've already got Silva there and I don't think Silva and Sneijder could both play in the same midfield.

I dont think such a thing would stop them wanting to sign Sneijder.

If City think they have a chance they will go for him

I think he'd be more suited to City actually. They've got the powerful players to offer him the protection that he needs in midfield. They could build a midfield similar to the one that Inter used when they won the CL.

Unfortunately, I agree with this.

------ De Jong ---- Toure ------
Silva ----- Sneijder ------ Johnson/Balotelli
--------- Dzeko/Tevez/Aguero ---

Would be immense for the cnuts.

He suffers in that 3-4-3 formation. He really likes to play that wide long balls to open the space for wingers and full backs, that makes his passing more versatile... Today, he didn't have anything of that in his team.

I owe Wesley Sneijder an apology. He did stop in the mixed zone. Said he's happy at Inter but refused to rule out a move to United #MUFC

Just seen the Interview. As soon as they ask about United, He shit himself and left in a hurray with a smile on his face.

He's coming to us lads. I can feel it in my belly.

Either that or I've got a dose of the shits coming on.

He's speaking English. The obvious conclusion is that he's on his way to OT

Surely there is something concrete to this whole transfer story.

I mean its going on for so long and not really anyone from both sides is denying clearly that there is no truth to this.

Interesting day at Lansdowne Road. Sneijder actually stopped and talked today. Gasperini spoke about United. Quotes embargoed until 10 tho

and

...No he (Sneijder) definitely didn't say it like that. Are journalist asked "are you flattered to be linked" and he said no no as in "I don't want to talk about United".

Of course they could play together. Silva would simply be used from a wider position.

Why reduce Silva's effectiveness when he's better playing in the middle? He's always impressed me when played there than from the wings.

It really wouldn't (and doesn't) make much of a difference to Silva's game when he's played a little wider. I actually prefer him there in the Premier League. Quite often when played centrally for City with the system they use and in this league he's too crowded.

I hope we don't lose him over wages, as i think he should be offered as much as rooney as he could pretty much walk into any side in the world. A midfield of below would take the pepsi challenge with any team, and if anderson takes the next step, it could possibly stand toe2toe with barca imo
