Goal.com has it on their front page, and they usually double check their sources to make sure its accurate before publishing, so the deal is definitely on.

Plus anyone else think that Howard Nurse seems like a WUM?

I've finally given up. I can't be arsed to read anything more about him. It's like losing the will to live to be honest. The torture of will we/won't we sign him has killed me.

If only Jose was our manager :smirk:

I really REALLY wish people would stop bumping this thread with links without actually checking the date/time of the article

First of all, a thread in which posts are added at a rate of 2-3 per second doesn't really need bumping!

Second, the link I gave wasn't that outdated. It was from 10 HOURS ago!

Third, there was an obvious element of humor in my post.

Fourth, if you don't like my post just skip ahead. Simple.

Fifth, the deal is ON!!!!!

I loved that quote from some guy on an Inter forum earlier today

"It's goal.com sources, I would get more reliable reporting from holding a tape recorder to my balls.'' or similar

"I couldn't tell you," said Ferguson, when asked about Sneijder. "I haven't been involved in that since we came over here.

"The situation is that there is no interest, at this moment in time, in Wesley Sneijder, for a number of reasons.

"So there's nothing I can tell you about it."

Ferguson admitted finding a replacement for Paul Scholes, who retired this summer, was the one issue of concern ahead of the new season.

"I don't think we will find another Scholes, but what we can do is find a replica," he said.

"Manchester United has done that time and time again and hopefully we can do that.

Real quotes? Haven't seen them anywhere.

I'd suspect that's what was actually said in Stewart Gardner's condensed tweet

Possibly, yeah. They're very muppet friendly though; I can already see a few holes I can exploit to feed my inner muppet if push came to shove.

Dont go down that road, it's one you'll never return from :(

"No real interest at this moment in time" according to Sir Alex.

We are definitely interested.

No deal for Sneijder

Sir Alex Ferguson insists that no deal is imminent to sign Inter Milan midfielder Wesley Sneijder.

The 27-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford all summer following the retirement of Paul Scholes.

But the boss maintains there is no agreement in place at present to bring the Dutch international to Old Trafford.

"I couldn't tell you [what's happening]," Sir Alex told reporters at a press conference on arrival on Seattle.

"I've not really been involved in it since we've come to America. There's no real interest at this moment in time in Wesley Sneijder for a lot of reasons. There's nothing I can tell you about it."

Sir Alex was quizzed further about any other potential new signings to add to the three he has already made - Phil Jones, Ashley Young and David De Gea. But the manager insists there is nothing new to report on that front.

"Nothing's imminent at this moment in time. Obviously we're trying but we've signed three players and we're very comfortable with that," he added.

"They're three tremendous young players to add to the squad I have from last year – and we've people coming back form loan periods like Welbeck, Cleverley, Diouf and Macheda.

"We've signed Phil Jones, Ashley Young, David de Gea... we've filled the gaps we've needed to fill. The one we're having difficulty replacing is Paul Scholes, which is always going to be hard.

"I don't think we'll find a Scholes but we'll find a different type of player because Manchester United do that. Time and time again we've faced this problem when we've lost great players. Eventually something turns up, either through our youth system or we identify someone.

"We're also analysing the young players in the youth team – what their capabilites will be, and we'll give them that opportunity.

"Scholes is a player of a lifetime. In his 20 years at the club it's hard to pick out a bad game. He was such a great, consistent player for us but hopefully we can replace him."

feck this lad's somebody PM me when we sign the bald pot-smoking bastard, I don't know how much more of this I can take...

I'm pretty sure we will get him in the end. Will take time though. Both parties are releasing statements that indicate that there is interest and a possibility, but that there are several bridges that need to be crossed.

Half an hour to go for the "big development". I bet it's just the these Fergie quotes from Seattle.
