Wesley Sneijder

The Times, the Telegraph and the Mirror certainly did... That's one hack of a thing to do with someone they 'know' is bullshit.

Most put it on the online version, but I flick through the papers and unsurprisingly they generally dont have any articles with their latest 'exclusives' that they talk about on twitter.

You'd think that if they really believed what they were saying then it'd be deemed newsworthy.

Would they have told him anything else though, that's the thing?

And yes, that is my inner muppet speaking.

I kind of agree.

It feels like discussions were had and Inter have stalled, subsequently coming out with the whole "untransferrable" remark.

At deadlock, we've played our cards by telling Inter "thanks but no thanks" and have then released a few snippets to the media to suggest it's all rubbish.

Inter, then, start on the whole "we'll see..." angle again, inviting us back to the discussions.

Fortunately, Robbie Savage announces his intention to sign for us just before Sneijder can scribble on the dotted line, we tear up contract, fly back to Blighty and snap up the "Savagemeister" before Madrid get their greasy paws on him.

Right then.. I'm not much for optimism and all, especially when it comes to high-profile signings, but this is the theory I'm putting underneath my pillow for a good night's muppet sleep:

Sir Alex's latest denial of a Sneijder deal is not to upset us poor fans screaming for a new midfielder, its main purpose is to make sure other Sneijder-suitors, notably Chelsea and City, who too appear to be on the hunt for a new creative force (Chelsea with their attempts to sign an elegant but very rodent-like Croatian which may very well fail, City being that unreasonably spoilt kid with a rich dad) don't interfere with superior bids and wage offers.

There is obviously every chance we aren't in for the Dutchman, or at least won't be able to secure a deal for whatever reason, but there are good reasons why the club would want to keep things quiet... if there are things.

Nighty.

Why should I believe someone with Nurse as his last name? #tediouscunt

Come on, Mad. It's an unspoken rule to never use Twitter references in a post!

Like I've said before, the only time I'll get my cock out is when there is conclusive evidence that there is interest.

Do we genuinely think if Chelsea or City wanted him, that somehow us NOT making a bid would make a difference.

I don't understand the logic... at all.

Is everyone accounted for? Have we lost any muppets along the way? no suicides??

Why is everyone panicking?

Essentially, the following has happened:

-Journos claimed that we were on the verge of signing Sneijder. They knew feck all.
-Journos now claim that we are not on the verge of signing Sneijder. They know feck all.

They're being silly buggers because they have no clue and they're speculating to get fans salivating and clicking their links/buying their rags.

If people think Ferguson is not going to address the centre of the park, they're fecking bananas. If they think Fergie is going to pull a Redknapp and start openly discussing targets left, right and centre, they're even more bananas! Fergie is doing his usual diversionary routine.

Patience bitches!

Ferguson is due to hold a press conference in a few hours in Seattle, hopefully clears up this Sneijder interest once and for all.

I wouldn't hold your breath mate.

Seriously, people need to stop taking what Ferguson tells the press as gospel. 100% of the time, he's lying.

Right, it's been fun being a muppet for 48 hours, but I'm bored now.

Sod this bloke, let's throw Cleverley, Welbeck, Pogba, Tunnicliffe and Morrison in at the deep end!

If Fergie actually was prepared to throw the kids in, I'd personally prefer it to signing Sneijder.

What the hell is going on with him now? 7 hours of work without a computer = months of missed transfer gossip.

They'll warn the press not to ask any questions on Sneijder. Somebody will ask a question on Sneijder, Fergie will give them the death stare.

Didn't he already do that?

I don't see how him denying something has much bearing on anything, as has been discussed.

Question that's out there is which rumours did he actually dismiss with his interview on ESPN.

Nobody has actually heard the question and if it was "is it true that United are close to completing a deal within the next 48 hours" and then we see his answer saying there is nothing to that - then he doesn't dismiss we are looking to make the deal happen, just that we aren't close to completing a deal.

^ I don't think the press want to hear anything else right now from Fergie other than what's happening with Sneidjer.

Y'know, I've just noticed something in a Mirror report on the Sneijder business: we've been reading made-up comments, a mish-mash of what Sir Alex actually said at the press conference. Anyone else recognise how the following has been twisted, & turned into seperate little soundbites - supposedly about the Sneijder deal when SAF's comments were not related to this at all - by other parties (ie not the Mirror)?

"Our youth coaches are very good, and the Academy, excellent coaches we have there and given the regulations they work under they do a great job.

"It's always been a part of the club to bring young players through from the youth team.

"I was going to bring Paul Pogba along, to be honest with you, but it would then mean huge numbers, you know, I think when we all meet up, finally, in New York.

"Javier Hernandez joins us there and then we'll have 29 players or something like that, which is a lot on tour, but in some way we'll have to cope."

If the hypothesis that "God killed a kitten everytime a person masturbated" were true then I'm afraid fellow caftards that the species known as cat will soon be extinct because of this thread and its ramifications.

They didn't even make the tour how they going to make a major difference to the team... i would like to know.

They probably aren't ready yet and Fergie probably won't put them in. It was just the romantic in me, wishing it would happen...

I don't think we'll sign him, to much money, to old. Since when was the last time our collective muppet dreams come true?

Never.
United don't do established stars as a rule and I'm happy with that. You buy hungrier players when you invest in 'prospects' instead of established players.

Even if they somehow have gotten their fingers on the pulse on this one and we have pulled out of any deal we might have been trying to do for Sneijder, I don't think it necessarily means we have someone else lined up. I suspect the lack of movement might be behind Gibson not having left yet.

Yippie.

it is strange that certain "sources" claim that we did agree a fee with them but not personal terms with Snejder and other "sources" come with stories suggesting something completely different. add that both Inter and United deny doing any contact...well it makes the whole saga as vague as on-line dating. you think you know something but you know shit
