Every day seems the same lately - we start off being excited by media reports; this is sustained throughout the day only to fizzle out into denials later. We're being played for more website hits, more newspaper sales, I think.

I believe we had denied making an approach for De Gea as well.

Yep

Reports emerged in Spain on Tuesday night claiming a transfer has already been agreed with Atletico for De Gea with the young Spaniard's agent Jorge Mendes in England to finalise terms.

However, after watching his side book their place in the last four of the Champions League, Ferguson refused to give credence to the reports.

'On Italian television I am supposed to be signing two players from Italy tonight, so I can place that story along with those,' he said.

'There is always speculation about who we are going to sign. So many people throw names at me. I can't answer it.'

That is interesting because for some reason the clip shown on ESPN's site does not have the question that SAF is responding to - just his answer. So if he is answering a question about whether we've agreed on the fee and personal terms - that's completely different to if the question was are we looking to acquire him.

The media eh? ;)

Right so we've gone full circle again then...

We were going to sign him at breakfast, it certainly was'nt happening at lunch, by dinner our interest had come back and by the time we're going to bed we're signing him again.

until you seen inter or united site confirm the deal, its all bullshit at the moment.

Any lovely Caf' member want to post a photoshop of Scholes passing a crown to Sneijder or something similar to cheer us up and rekindle hope?

Ferguson has said similar things about Sneijder over the last month, so who really knows what is going on. Might be misinformation in an effort to get the deal done before City or possibly Chelsea comes in an raises the price, or United trying to hid their real targets. You could say the same thing about the Nasri situation as well

I suspect that United will address their midfield needs this off season and I am starting to get a gut feeling that it will eventually be Sneijder, especially if they can reduce his wage demands, but nobody really know for sure and we could end up with any of the 7 or 8 midfielders that are rumoured to be moving this season.

Finally, the penny drops. This whole thing has been blown out of proportion on the internet. Half these journalists didn't dare write about this story in their articles and that's because they know it's bullshit. On the Internet they can fool the kids and get a good rep because they tell them what they want to hear.

Hernandez - BFA said:
I would just like to emphasize that M16_0RA RG guy is reliable.

He's said all along that the Nasri rumours were bollocks, all United did was make an enquiry.

Pass on my wishes to the members of the mains on the CAF: Continue your muppetry! Its a joy to read for a newbie muppet!

From a newbie.

Don't listen to him guys. :nervous:

Interesting that the comments from SAF on Nasri made it onto the official site as the big story of the day yet nothing on there about these quotes on Sneijder.... does that mean it's on?

He will be ours. Can't wait to see him and Rooney and Chicharito all in action. Maybe we will go 433 more often this season again.

Van Marwijk: Manchester United move right for Sneijder and Dutch football

Holland coach Bert van Marwijk wants Wesley Sneijder to move to Manchester United.

The Inter Milan star is the subject of intense talks between the two clubs this week.

"A transfer to Manchester United would only make Wesley a better player. He has already played for some top clubs in Real Madrid and Inter, but I think that United will be another step forward for him," Van Marwijk told Voetbal International.

"Because of their footballing philosophy and the level they play at, but also because it’s a new challenge. It will inspire him and give him new energy."

The coach then went on to explain that a transfer to Manchester United would not only be in Sneijder's best interest, but would also be positive for Oranje.

"It will also be good for the national team. Manchester United’s style of play is more similar to the way we play than Inter’s. Wesley gets the ball in a deeper position in Oranje than with his club. We get him involved in our build-up play and also in our opponents’ half. That’s where he’s at his best with his through passes and long distance shots.

"He plays a lot higher up the pitch in Italy and often has to fight against five or six defenders. I can see Wesley making the same impact at United as with Oranje. I think that he would fit in very well."
