Weird feelings of football

Every time we start with a lineup approved by the Cafe, we are shite. And vice-versa.
This has been going on for years now. Just do the opposite of what cafe says and you're golden.

Frédéric Kanouté still plays for Sevilla. In fact he will never stop playing for Sevilla.

More penalties are missed than ever before.

It's true. Penalty takers annoy me. Even elite players seem to be crap penalty takers. They all seem to put it at that height where the keeper is begging for it to go, about a foot off the ground and a few feet inside the post. Or you get those stutter run ups where they try to send the goalkeeper the wrong way and roll it the other, and it often results in a tame penalty easily saved.

Less dinks, rolls and stutters. Just twat the shite out of it, low and hard into the side netting, or in to the top corner.

Every time since Ferguson retired we've played someone where there's a stat along the lines of 'Haven't lost since', we lose.

If I could take the heartbreak I'd take a look at how many negative records we've broken since he's retired. Must be a crazy number now!

United have one game at home every season where we remember how to score from corners. Then we go back to being shit at them.

Most of the time when Lingard has an average game, one or two posters will say "What about his FA Cup Final goal?"

Glenn Roeder disappeared in 2006 and was never seen again.

Didier Drogba is the only striker to come to the PL from the French league and replicate his form/improve.

Fly Emirates are the Nicholas Anelka of shirt sponsors.

Last weekend was the first time we have won while our rivals have dropped points since Fergie left.

we haven't fielded our strongest 11 since 2011, we always seem to have 2-3 role players to "do a job" against the opposition, instead of trying to play our own game.

 Gold!

successful teams who switch shirt sponsor struggle in the season

Brazil play better with white shorts.

They do have this one in white shorts, but my memories of Brazil playing well have always been in blue shorts.

Darren Fletcher spent 3 seasons injured with us with no sign of coming back to football.

Upon signing for West Brom, he hasn't missed a club nor an international game.

This is true. I bet Jonny Evans hasn't missed a game either.

Van Persie is probably playing 60 games a season for Fenerbahce.

And we all know the moment Phil Jones leaves us he'll set all kinds of appearance records.

As long as Van Der Sar was in goal you were guaranteed to win the league and barring catacylsmic events you were guaranteed to reach the Champions League final every. Single. Year.

It varies. In The UK a 4 was mostly a midfielder and 6 a defender. In Europe and South America, 2,3,4,5 is your back four and a 6 is a midfielder. To me, the latter makes more sense. Why would your back four be 2,3,5,6 and the 4 go in to the next line?

1
2 4 5 3
6
8 10
7 ------ 11
9
It's daft we've started doing that anyway, naming positions by numbers. It only seems to apply to 6, 8, 9 and 10. It's a bit hipster, but I'm also guilty of doing it. "An 8" is easier than "box to box midfielder".
I don't think I've ever named a position by a number. It probably helps that I've never played a football manager game I guess?

It's not an FM thing. I don't know why it's started to become popularised, but pundits seem to be using it now. I can't remember doing it pre-LvG. I blame him.

Goalkeepers tend to move clubs a lot less than outfield players.

Similarly, van der Sar never had a bad game for us.
That's what I thought. Ironically his last one was a bit of mare. Wrong footed on the first one and a tad slow for messi's powerful drive. What an amazing goalkeeper he was. Don't know why he didn't join us in 2001 instead of going to Fulham.
