How embarrassing must it be for Rooney to pick up a fat check every other week!
Back in training today.
Weird... his stats would suggest that he's had an OK season. 15 goals and assists in 29 appearances (18 starts) Really decent numbers, shame he's a little crap.
I agree for the most part, but really early on he had cross to Ibra and the ball in for the Rashford winner at Hull. But generally yeah, those moments have been so few and far between its actually quite amazing how far he's dropped even from last season. We thought he was bad last year, but he's hit a new low in some of his performances.Remember what those assists were though? We're talking 3 yard passes to Lingard on the half way line, a 5 yard pass to Ibra 40 yards out, a shanked shot Ibra headed in at the far post. A tackle that deflected off his shin to Rashford. It's a bit of a comedy to be honest
Not travelled with the squad. Lads I think this is it. We are in the 'end of an era' countdown.
ShawReally? Rested for the final, perhaps? Anyone else notable who didn't travel?
Do we go into such an analysis of assist quality for all players?Remember what those assists were though? Like world cups?Interesting topic for debate; would we see a more of the old Rooney if we were genuinely challenging for Premier Leagues and Champions Leagues?
Rooney only seems to play well when there is something important at stake and he's fired up for it. He's not the kind of player that plays well when we're not relevant. Also, can we afford to have players with that attitude?
Mourinho didn't even try and dismiss any speculation.
Probable just irritated the topic ruined his conference.
Wouldn't you just love to be an English sports journalist?Every fecking question, its not even interesting. It comes up most weeks as well and I don't know why, surely its gotten to the point where people aren't reading about it and the journalists can't write anyway as Mourinho is giving the same stock answers he has from the start.
Rooney is a club legend, he goes when he chooses. Copy and paste.

Just need a to prepare a few Rooney questions here and there and it's job done for the week
I honestly think I could do it. Tuesday Rooney story. Wednesday i would invent a bale link to united. Thursday say bale to united is looking increasingly likely. Friday mourinho refuses to talk about bale links in conference, so must be something there. Saturday bale set to snub united. Sunday story about however much rooney has or hasn't played.

Rooney isn't going to China. He wants to play the next WC and that means playing in a top 5 league. If not here then somewhere else, but that somewhere is going to be in Europe
That might have been the case beginning of the season but Mourinho has put him in his place, he must be deluded to think he has any chance to play in the racist, I mean Russia world cup. But then again, it's England were talking here.
Utd would have to let him go for peanuts or free if he was to go to another premiership or European team but if he went China, potentially recoup the fee he originally signed for. That would be brilliant and a nice send off.
To be honest wouldn't mind if he stayed next season as long as he agreed to half his wages but he won't, so he can feck off
F365 said:“You have to ask him,” said Mourinho when asked whether Rooney could leave this season. “I can’t guarantee that I’m here next week so how can I guarantee a player won’t be here next season?"
“What I can guarantee is that if Wayne one day leaves the club it is not because I want him to leave the club."
“The only thing I can guarantee is that I would never push, or try to push, a legend of this club to another destination. So you have to ask him if he wants to stay at the club for the rest of his career or if he sees himself moving on. I’m happy to have him."
“I have been very open with you. I don’t want him to leave.”
He is this close to breaking England's all time caps record and he is still being selected for National side, so yes, he would be hopeful of appearing in next wc. Plus he's already stated he'd retire from internationals after next world cup, which basically implies he won't be moving to US, China or middle east for that matter before the world cup
Is this new?
Reading between the lines he's saying it's his home here and he can do what he likes. Doesn't mean he's going to play very much.
I'll be interested to see if Mourinho decides to give him a new deal or use the option for another year on his current deal. I'll be very surprised if Woodward does.
Chinese window is open till 28 feb i think. One can hope and pray till then. I do think mourinho saying "Ask wayne" is basically saying ball is in his court and he can leave. Dont think Rooney will leave right now, end of season for sure.
From Woodward's perspective, it will be worth extending his deal from a commerical POV as it will increase any transfer fee we would get for him. The same reason he was happy to sanction his last deal.
And why's everyone so desperate for him to leave now when he can't be replaced? Might as well do it in the summer if we are going to as we'll need as many players as possible come the run-in, especially one as experienced as him.
It's like he doesn't even exist anymore, no one talks about him and we're better off without him.
There's no way he stays beyond this season.
You think we could get £15m+ (for each year he has on his deal?) in transfer fee for him? Or that he's worth that much to us commercially each year?
You must be very naive if you take every thing written on the internet Literally. Now i am going to have sex with Margot Robbie and Scarlet Johansson. You must have a really sad life to be praying about this.
No, but say we were to activate his one year extension, we are in a stronger position to negotiate with other clubs about his transfer fee so we would get more money without having to honour it.

Who do you think will pay any sort of transfer fee and offer him wages to tempt him or/and football to a standard he'd demand?
If we want to get him off the books in the most financially beneficial way possible, the last thing we want to do is extend his contract.
This is the same Jose that spent the month of January lavishing Morgan and Depay with praises. He also mentioned he didn't want those two to go and would be sad if they left. But he always added that he wouldn't stand in their way if they wanted to go and then hardly played them. Same script, different cast.Is this new?
