Thought his body language was very positive for someone who didn't come on today. Good stuff.

Pack that in please, he's club captain and he was on the bench. Nothing wrong at all with what he did.

I personally do believe it to be wrong to take the armband from a player who actually contributed to the victory, but each to their own.

Legend. He celebrated Ibra's goal at the sideline in a way like a child is celebrating a goal. Fantastic. No diva.

Seeing him celebrate on the touchline added a lot to the goal. It was just lovely to see, really. Hopefully that isn't the last cup he lifts with us!:p

It was the "trips on the steps" bit that you should have thought twice about.

What I was looking for was something that would make him look a little silly (moreso) on TV as opposed to him falling and/or hurting himself, but extrapolate whatever non-existent malice you like.

He's been proffesional throughout this season when he's not played for us. I know the mandatory reply to my post will be something something 250k, but it's easy to sulk when you've been the center stage for so many years.

I am okay with him in being in the squad. He'll be important in these last few months.

Rare of me to defend/praise him but this was great to see.

I'm hoping people start to realise just how much of his playing career he has given to this club. And the Terraces that chanted his name after the multitude of goals he scored for us..often really important goals. That reaction is from a guy who totally bought into this club and his rejection of a Chinese move should not mean fear that he might come on, but a tip of the hat that actually...after what is it 10 or 11 years of playing....his whole memories of his career will be about United.

He won't be appreciated now...I get that...but later....when he retires....it will be...no doubt about that.

Fantastic. I think it was @Pexbo who said Rooney wouldn't give a shit if we won a cup final in which he didn't feature.

It's in the other thread, I said that if he plays no part and isn't eligible for a medal. He was on the bench and got to lift the trophy as a captain. It's taking that comment completely out of context anyway, the discussion it came up in I was talking about Rooney's attitude towards United over the years and how he's never taken the club to heart. He's an Everton lad here for money and trophies and once his career here is finished he'll be in the stands at Goodison and won't give the club a second thought unless he's kept on in an ambassadorial role. So my comment wasn't about him being on the bench, it was about him being left out completely and not picking up a winners medal. As I said in the other thread though, tonight isn't the night for this discussion.

Ok, sorry. Misremembered your comment. Thoughts on the video above?

 I'm not a complete asshole, it was great to see! I think people get too caught up here with the "sides" of an argument. I don't particularly like him as a person and I think certain personalities in the squad will grow into the vacuum when he eventually leaves but that doesn't mean I'm going to sit here and be grumpy that he's enjoying some success with the club. We won our second trophy in two seasons and are in the running for two more plus a respectable league position, that's all that matters.

I'm pretty confused as to why people are surprised that he celebrated the way he did when we scored what went on to be the winner.

He's currently our longest serving player at United. He loves the club. Simple as!

Nice to see him lifting another trophy too.

Rooney deserves a lot of credit for how he's handled his new role in the side

He might not be the player he used to be, but I think he's a fantastic leader and bring positive energy to the team. He was laughing and joking with everyone after the game, the players clearly respect him.

Nice to see his celebration but I am not really sure why this is any surprise really. He has always celebrated most of United goals with some passion. You can watch any of the goals over the years and he always loses it especially for a late winner.

Apparently he was going to show resentment if he didn't get on today
