Vast majority? Completely false for this season, let alone others. Then again, it's Rooney's mum, maybe she's just clueless about football.

Yes vast majority! something like 70% have either been 2 yard passes before a wonder run (Lingard) or a shinned shot that Zlatan then bungs in.

Thats fact - please dont make me list this seasons assists.....

"1 Feyenoord: Great assist, good cutback.
2 Swansea: 3 yards pass to Ibra who struck it in from 20 yards and another 3 yard pass to Ibra who did all the work to finish it again.
1 Fenerbahce: Another 5 yard pass on the edge of the area for matter to strike it in from 20 yards.
1 Zorya: A completely scuffed shot off his shin that Zlatan headed in at the near post

1 Hull: a good cross from the left hand side.
1 Leicester: A pass to Lingard on the half way line who Messi'd his way to goal.
1 Southampton: A floated cross for Ibra."

If you guys are so desperate to overplay his achievements then fine. Personally i'd consider a 5 yard pass a piece of cake. Unless its threaded, and he couldnt thread a turd.

It's because more often than not he makes the correct decision

Again, it's because he chooses the right option, it also doesn't show if he has done anything prior to the pass i.e a positive run down the line etc....

Messi, Ronaldo and Rooney are the only current players who are all time top scorers for both club and country. How true is this

without doing too much research (none) I think that sounds fairly accurate, but there could be some smaller nations in CONCACF or Africa that might throw a spanner into the assumtion

the fenerbahce one is called a lay off. when a player comes in, you need to put in a perfect lay off so that the incoming player can connect sweetly. Its not as simple as a "5 yard pass that someone else finished". The swansea assist for our third goal was actually good with him brushing off a player and running with the ball to pass to ibra who finished well though. But it was a good assist.

theres also one vs Reading where he played a 1-2 with martial for his goal, a good forward run. Another one vs WBA which also he did good work on the left (though ibra was exceptiona in that goal too)

in addition, im guessing the likes of ozil and KDB would have 5 yard assists too. I doubt all of their assists are 30 yard passes that is put on a plate for the forward

If those 5 yard passes were so easy to make, Mkhitarayan who is 10 times the player Rooney is should be making 5 of those every game right? Some of those could be 5 yard passes by the way, but he takes up really good positions to make those happen. Anyway, before I am accused of being Rooney's mum or something, I have nothing against Mkhi or Ibra or anyone. In fact, I know that they are playing much better than Rooney at the moment. The only reason I posted that stat was because a squad player who is creating or scoring every 100 minutes (which he is at the moment), there is no reason for him to be shipped to China like many people here are suggesting. Especially considering there is a slight possibility of him turning it around. And the most ironic thing is the same people who slate Rooney for getting 2 yard assists are the same ones who think Ronaldo is the greatest player ever who scores an awful load of tap-ins and penalties..

In Rooney's defense, his touch and attacking football has improved under Mou. He's not the liability that he's been over the past few years as his form is much better IMO. And I even thought that he was the best player on the pitch one game this year. I've not said that in a few years but it was an FA cup game or ?? and every touch was nice, every pass was cutting and with purpose. I'm not saying he deserves in the first XI but he's definitely been additive when he comes on.

It was the Europa league cup game against Fyenoord which United won 4-0. Mkhitaryan was the MOTM. I still think his first touch is terrible and so is his short passing. I can't see how you think his form is much better than in recent seasons when he actually was the top scorer in LVG's first season at United. I'd say this season has been his worst productivity wise

Hull City 2:1 Man Utd
It's gone under the radar a bit with the goal scoring record record being broken but Wayne Rooney has just set the record for mind bendingly shite corners taken. He's at one million and 2 now. Impressive.

Yup. Louis would have him off corner duty for that. Back of the list.

I still don't understand why he's allowed to take them. You don't have to be a world class manager to see our set pieces are bad, so why is nothing done about it?

He's normally decent at tracking back, but today he has switched off completely a couple of times, one for their goal.

Massive liability. Dunno why Mou brought him on.

Almost costed us defensively couple of times in his short time tonight. Captain.

He should also stop pretending he is coming on to make us better in possession if he is coming on as an attacking player and act as an attacking player.

Didn't really do much good or bad. Stood unmarked on the spot twice for Rashford first to square it to him and then Pogba when he was in acres of space. Not really sure he can do much more that show for a chance.

Took a couple of terrible corners and failed to track the runner twice which lead to their 2nd goal.

He was only as shite as the rest of them though to be fair.

Yeah, like I said. Didn't do much good or bad, transitioned play and stood unmarked on the spot twice for a square sidefoot shot but didn't receive the pass at the attacking end. Just one of those 'didn't do anything of note' performances. Not really much to write home about, move along to next bench performance.

Been a very good player for us but I really hope he does move on in the summer. Cost us our unbeaten run tonight due to him being way out of position. Had that been Fellaini we'd never here the end of it.

His corners  Do we even practice them. Is there even a point in taking them anymore? We should just boot it to the halfway line and reset / restart our attacks.

You know what, that isn't a bad idea. I can't remember the last time we scored from one. keeping the ball in the opponents half isn't a bad thing.

And I've Booney is taken them, then getting the ball over the first man is a plus.

Or keeping it from going out first before it comes back in

Also lol @ autocorrect to Booney.
