Plenty of people have questioned if he has a contract clause (to play % of seasonal games) so that's not a new suggestion.
There is no such clause.
Why would any club in the World, be forced into a situation to play a player who is playing badly.
The manager must have the ability to remove any player from the first team, as he sees fit.
It's ludicrous.
The truth is that managers rate him highly. So highly in fact, that they make him Captain.
I think he has that clause too. Remember, Moyes isn't the brightest person - he was also desperate to have an ally in the dressing room. He bent over for Rooney. I don't think we can blame Ed for this too much as Moyes was there to advise him about the player - Ed knows nothing about how to judge if a player is finished or not - that would have been Moyes' responsibility.This.
But I'm starting to seriously belive that Moyes gave him a clause in his last contract, guaranteeing him a startingplace. There are no other logical reasons that both LvG and Jose kept and keeps playing him. Madness..
@Walters_19_MuFc @shamans are you watching how bad he is?
if players like Buttner supposedly had guaranteed appearance numbers then it will be rife in footballThere is no such clause.

You obviously missed his world-class assist.
Someone needs to make a compilation of his involvements from this game. It was so bad that I actually want to watch it again. I think Mourinho will ease him out of the team eventually. It would create too much of a shitstorm in the media to just drop him straight away.
People keep mentioning about Rooney's backroom influence, however, I sincerely think it's no longer a case. He holds his close ties with media alright, but so does Mourinho and Manchester United. In fact, Rooneys inclusion in the side does the adverse and potentially can create a locker room disturbances, especially, with the likes of Mhicky, Mata even Rashford who would be questioning Mou's authority, which is far worse than having few bitter articles out there written by Rooney's propagandists.
But that's the point - he's too inconsistent to have in such an important position. He's already underperformed there in seasons past, so persisting with this has to be he strangest thing the club has done.I would defend him insofar as he is playing in a position wherein he is surrounded by defenders and thus it would be expected that he is going to lose possession or a through ball wont hit its precise target. But having said that he was giving too many passes away and then couldn't even retain the ball enough. If you look at Silva or even Mata, they would retain the ball better and also give better passes. Now they wouldn't be perfect, but they would be much better. Ibra for example who likewise is surrounded by defenders controlled the ball better at times and offloaded it better. Ok, hes bigger, but still Rooney can drop deeper at times and even then he was relinquishing possession very cheaply. Like against Iceland in the Euros, his confidence looks shot. I would be a bit concerned although we have the players at our disposal to deal with it (Mata and Mykitarian). But having said that Rooney could go out next week and be completely different. He is a bit of an enigma in that way.
That's true. But United need to bite the bullet and accept any bad headlines the club might get. What the press says pales in comparison to having an underperforming player that seems undroppable. The club needs to win - it's very important for all sorts of reasons of course, not least, to keep the sponsorship money coming in.Rooney's relationship with the media is hugely important though. Usually in situations like this, you'd have the press writing articles on-end highlighting the poor performances or asking if it's time to drop the player, but you'll hear nary a peep about it for Rooney. Their treatment of him takes away a lot of the media spotlight associated with situations like this.
And Fellaini's screening to distract opponentYou obviously missed his world-class assist.
And Jose would f'n deserve it if he, like his predecessors, are all to blind to see what, I'd imagine, a large majority of the fan base can see.He will get Jose sacked.
not good enough for a three legged donkey on ketamineRooney's touch and passing today was abysmal, not good enough for the captain of the club.
There's no other explanation. Mourinho does not care about stepping on anyone's toes. He shuns Bastian fecking Shweinsteiger to the reserves because he sees weakness in him. He doubles subs off Mata for being too short. I just would not be able to fathom why he keeps a player that can't trap a ball at this stage. Wayne's deal obviously included some sort of marketing/image appearance clause. Quite possibly moyes' biggest mistake. There is no such clause.
