I honestly think our entire season depends on how Mourinho uses Rooney.

As I said in the other Rooney thread. How successful Mourinho is here, depends a lot on how he deals with the Rooney conundrum.

Mourinho is going to have show some serious balls this season and tell Rooney to shape up or feck off. Rooney has been the king of the dressing room you imagine for a fair few years as our "biggest" player so has been getting it relatively easy but now with Zlatan and Pogba potentially you'd expect them to be having none of it if he's not performing.

It's the first game of the season for him but wow he looks rusty. Not a good sign.

The only role that suits his ability these days is Left Out.
I honestly do not know because we have used him as an 8, 9 and a 10 and none of those position in the last three years has added consistentcy to his game.
I do know that him and Ibrahimovic will not work together as a dual partnership. I believe on bench is the easy answer but if we are to play him then I would suggest in a three man midfield with a player who is more dynamic alongside him and with perhaps out and out wingers, so we could utilize his strength of stretching the game.
I hope either he gets fit and improves or he is dropped very soon
