Does anybody else have a feeling we might sell him this summer?
Funnily enough, I am expecting it more than I did last summer.

Rooney gets his fair share of injuries too.Surely it should be RVP. We can't sell Rooney and rely on such an injury prone player.
A feeling - definitely.
I've a feeling there's a fair bit of internal strife going on at Old Trafford at the moment. I can't make full sense of it - at all - but if you look at the following factors:
a) We're apparently keen on buying Cavani
b) We're apparantly hiring van Gaal, who likes RVP very much.
c) Rooney was/is a Moyes man.
...it doesn't look particularly good for Rooney.
But feck knows. Everything is just whispers at the moment.

Stop teasing, I got all excited last summer and forest gimp is still here, there is to be no talk of him leaving until it's a cert. please!Does anybody else have a feeling we might sell him this summer?
I agree that Rooney doesn't get injured as often but he takes much longer to get back into form after injury. He has been one of our best performers but I also think he has ranged from decent to poor for much of the second half of the season after his injury around Christmas IMO. He was very good in the first half of the season though.I don't think he's nearly as bad as RVP though. Rooney has also been one of our best players this season too. I can't see him leaving unless Van Gaal comes in and just looks out for his mate RVP.
Rooney could be an important player for us as a sub for RVP. I don't see him starting under LVG.People need to just get over it Rooney is not going anywhere. There is zero chance he leaves this summer. He just signed a new contract and the wages he is on makes him practically immovable. RVP is probably not leaving as well. Since our two biggest rivals have scored 100 goals apiece I really do not think we should get rid of them since they are two of the best goal scorers around.
£300k a week to sit on the bench?Rooney could be an important player for us as a sub for RVP. I don't see him starting under LVG.

He isn't on £300k a week.£300k a week to sit on the bench?
I suspect LVG will know how to keep him fit. I think LVG will try rvp, mata, nani and janu as starters. He'll have to if RVP is crocked again.
Ok, if you're going to be like that: Do you really think Wayne Rooney, a man on £240-300k a week and who has handed in 2 transfer requests, will accept sitting on the bench for the rest of his contract? He isn't on £300k a week.
What makes you think he will be injured again? If he stays fit he will score 30 + league goals. He'll have to if RVP is crocked again.
Probably not.Ok, if you're going to be like that: Do you really think Wayne Rooney, a man on £240-300k a week and who has handed in 2 transfer requests, will accept sitting on the bench for the rest of his contract?
Yeah, I think Moyes training regime could have been a factor in RVP's injuries this season. He had managed to stay fit for the last 2 and half seasons before this one so I think he'll be okay if the manager doesn't push him too hard. I think LVG might play Rooney/Kagawa, Mata and Januzaj behind him and have the 3 interchanging constantly. I think Nani needs to be moved on at this stage.I suspect LVG will know how to keep him fit. Who knows maybe Rooney will adapt to fit in
He wouldn't be happy about it but I can't see many teams offering him the wages he currently earns and paying a fee that United deem acceptable so he'll have to accept it if he does get dropped.Ok, if you're going to be like that: Do you really think Wayne Rooney, a man on £240-300k a week and who has handed in 2 transfer requests, will accept sitting on the bench for the rest of his contract?
That's the issue though, we can't have a guy with those wages on the bench because it's just a complete waste of money. We either need to get rid or find a way of making it work.He wouldn't be happy about it but I can't see many teams offering him the wages he currently earns and paying a fee that United deem acceptable so he'll have to accept it if he does get dropped.
Ah, I was only looking at it from Rooney's perspective. Yeah, it would be better to get rid if Van Gaal doesn't rate him. That's the issue though, we can't have a guy with those wages on the bench because it's just a complete waste of money. We either need to get rid or find a way of making it work.
That's not going to happen. Sure he was pretending all along. No need now. He'll have to if RVP is crocked again.

Can't wait for next season. How Van Gaal deals with the VP, Rooney, Mata question will be intriguing.
I'm sure he'll find a better method than Moysie did. Although In fairness, Moyes didn't have a huge amount of games where he had the three of them available at the same time.
Yes but the intrigue will start as soon as a new manager is confirmed.I actually started typing about how i couldn't wait to see how he used Rooney. But then I thought, but I can't wait to see how he uses Mata or Kagawa either. Or Nani, Valencia, Fellaini. Or who we sign. Or how our style changes.
So I thought I can't wait for next season covered it better.
Well, then you are right you will only get that after the start of next season. Enjoy the waitWhat we have now is intrigue. I'm looking forward to clarity.
Potentially his last chance of making an impact at a World Cup this, and it looks like he's not leaving anything to chance in regards to his fitness.
He's released this video of him in training already, so is obviously keen to dispel any question marks about it:
Great to see.
Hopefully under Van Gaal his level of professionalism is kept consistently high.
Although it'd be funny if that was a video of the sum total of the trainig he's done to date, and was filmed immediately prior to him going to the bar for a burger and a few pints.
'Well dere's me exercise aat da way, now time to relax . . . '
Well the body usually doesn't lie. We'll see what he's like in Brazil.
If he rolls up looking heavy as an amateur rugby player we'll know he hasn't been training that hard.
