Wayne Rooney | 2012-14 Performances

He's not on 300k a week. Pretty sure his new contract isn't actually that different from his old one directly from the club, it's more added on because of sponsors. Though that doesn't suit the agenda people have against him so nobody will mention it.

Oh well in that case, top performance from Rooney today. World class and all that

We are increasingly being made to look like mugs for that contract we gave him.

You just know that he has been on the piss and eating poorly over the ten day break. You often see these types of performances from him around the festive period too.

Absolutely sick of this guy, the "rule" that he should start every game when he is fit is proving to be wrong again and again. Awful performance, and that's 3 in a row ftom him.
What's more embarassing is that he was our captain today when we had Fletcher on the pitch. Making him the first captain next season will be the biggest mistake we could make.

What a stinker. So far it looks like our least potent frontline consists of Mata + Rooney

According to Moyes he has great understanding with Rooney.

utter dog shit today. Ive said it before and Ill say it again, fine, he needs games to find form after an injury, but if he is going to be this shit it should be done in the reserves, now more than ever we can not afford to carry passengers. Ive never seen a supposedly world class player who gives the ball away as often as him.

From that match, it did look as though our creative players desperately need some pace upfront.

Which we knew from where it clicked before with Hernandez playing and Moyes knew which is why Welbeck had got some games up front in some bigger matches recently and provided that threat in behind the defence.

Young John Stones had an easy day dealing with Rooney up front

Actually now is the time to carry passengers. August is where it counts for United.

There is some serious vendetta's going on here, he was far from our worst player and at least kept trying, the goals again came from trying to accomadate Kagawa who again flattered to deceive. Some people have got a serious problem based on contracts and negotiation of contracts that we as fans no nothing about.

It disturbs me greatly that we have a man in our side who is so untouchable, he can play as poorly as he has done in the last two games and never be under-threat of being taken off the pitch.

Only if you listen to the English press, he's quite clearly not world class. Great premiership player but not a world beater, give me Bale any day.

Im not going to harp on, you know my opinions on him, but even his biggest supporters must be sick of performances like that as often as they come, at least half a dozen, every, single season.

Think it clicked today he is the problem. Last few games, injury or not have been unbelievably poor. If he isn't match fit then he shouldn't be fecking playing.

Why the feck does Moyes not have the balls to take him off when he's as shit as he was today? fecking ridiculous how deep Rooney has Moyes

He always struggles when he's not at full fitness and is usually terrible at Goodison.

His selection makes me suspect Moyes is actually brain damaged.

Welbeck and Hernandez would done much better than Rooney if they start today. I even give Hernande MOTM from our team. Even when Distin off, Rooney still couldn't improve his game.

250k per week should play much better than this in a consistency.

Obviously not fit, didn't play at all well. Bit surprised the number of people who think he should be sold because he played poorly. Some horrifically short-term memories here, Rooney's contributions this season are probably a reason why we're at least top half.

Exactly, some of the posts in here are pathetic, just how much better was Mata today? Or kagawa? they weren't the hole team was shit.

Lets take a look at the bitter truth:
  • Has Moyes by the bollocks : Check
  • Stealing £300,000 (Messi/Ronaldo like wages) when he isn't worth that and will never ever replicate that form: Check
  • Can't control a football on his bad days (basically resembles a league 10 player) yet is deemed a world-class player: Check
  • Overrated because he is the best of a bad bunch: Check
  • Hasn't been the same since 2010/11 season: Check
  • Awarded captain's armband when he can't lead by example on bad days and gets frustrated: Check

It's strange how inconsistent his technique seems to be. We can debate his fitness in todays game all day long, and we'll never know the answer, but his close control is sometimes fantastic, and on other days (like today) it is shocking. Today, he was like watching the workings of a pinball machine.

They were both better. Rooney was awful from minute one, throughout the whole match. Kagawa and Mata did at least have a decent 30 minutes and Mata wasn't wasting possession and stopping our play like Rooney did. He was by far the worst player on the pitch. Of that there is no doubt.

Sir Alex Ferguson falling out with Wayne Rooney at the end of last season looks understable when you think about it.

100% correct.

exactly, anyone with a passing acquaintance with our squad saw it coming, i've been in the defending motes camp all season but this refusal to even sub him off never mind drop him is rapidly changing my mind.

Has any other supposedly world class player had a lower trough than Rooney? Inconsistency is part of a footballer's career but when Rooney's shite, he's really shite.

It's just wrong to scapegoat a player who's by far our most productive and best outfield player this season, and who's been an extremely important component of this football club for a decade. Just stop, please. It's wrong.

Blame Moyes for his poor management of Rooney, it's true he's scared of high-profile players, and so will play Rooney and van Persie when they are not fit, and are scared to substitute or drop said players if they are playing poorly. However, don't blame the players for this, blame Moyes.
