Dire. Our next captain leading by example.

Starting to think we need to sign someone, anyone who is a leader and can be our new captain instead of him. Regardless of their position on the pitch and whether we specifically need an improvement there. We need a captain who is consistent and can organize the team and Rooney isnt it. Neither is anyone else on that pitch.

Nonsense. He's had our only shot on target and created our best chance of the game which RVP missed. RVP was talking complete rubbish. You don't see Suarez and Sturridge complaining about them getting in each others position, because that's called movement.

Sturridge and Suarez run away from each other, not into each other

Embarassing performance, he is pretty much stopping us playing at times.

Doesn't say much about the team but it seemed he was the only one who actually seemed to try at the end there from those who started.

Sick of people criticising Rooney when our Dutch Berbatov sulks about the pitch contributing nothing but woeful shots and lazy offside calls.

Our 11th most accurate passer. He was trying to make things happen unlike some of the others, but the majority of his inaccurate passes were just sloppy moments. Rooney and Mata were both tackled 5 times, Januzaj 6

It was one of the dumbest Wayne Rooney performances I can recall. Every now and then he'd do something quite good, if only to accentuate all the other daft nonsense he was doing.

One minute he'd look half asleep, the next he'd be thumping his chest... but, like everyone else, it wasn't near good enough.

Despite having our only shot on target and creating our best chance.

What a weirdo

He had a shot on target, wow.

He didn't created shit, Rafael created our two best chances, including the one for him which wasn't great shot anyway. But hey, it was on target.

After DDG, Rooney was our best player, however he was absolutely garbage.

Rafael was our best player by a country mile. Without some of his important tackles against Suarez & Sturridge, it was touch-cloth atimes.

But yeah he stops us playing:wenger::lol:

He can't be the best player for me when he's made those hugely stupid mistakes. I love the commitment he displays but at this level being more cool headed is better.

Was Rooney supposed to play as our no 10? Because many times when we had the ball, I saw him almost along side RvP. We got a huge hole in the middle since there's nobody to link the play from midfield to strikers

I think we as fans believe he's supposed to play as a 10 but the reality is that under Moyes he's asked to play in a more advanced role. I may be clutching at straws but I'm trying to find a logical solution to this stupid situation.

He's been like that with RVP all season. Its resulted in Rooney scoring more goals than last season and us struggling to create as much

Poor first touch. Awful passes and slow crossfield passes which allow other team to regroup kill any momentum in our attack.

He must be genuinely of the belief that his worthless long pass out wide is so fantastic. The fans love it, and yes it looks nice, but it's predictable and done at times when a better option through the centre is on.

Honestly, it's like it's programmed into him, even from his very first touch. He takes it on turn and without fail, he's turning to the wings to pass it out wide. We'll never play the kind of football so many people want to see unless Rooney is played as the central striker, he's dropped, or he manages to completely change his mindset.

Pretty much a pub player yet again, playing with two strikers just doesn't work because both look immensely shit then.

Should be a lone striker or midfielder like Gerrard to spray long passes.

Playing two strikers at once is ruining Rooney, RVP, Moyes and Untied.

Yeah, someone said on another thread that we played 4-2-3-1, but it look like 4-2-2-2 for me. City played similar formation but with much more success because their wingers are more than willing to come inside to link plays and they had Toure who could run all day with and without the ball from central midfiled

Doesn't have the consistency of first touch to play in midfield or the quick thinking. There were times today where he moved on the ball like a snail. Took a touch and simply stood still waiting, I'd love to know for what. And, for whatever reason, Rooney insisted on trying cross field balls that Flanagan kept cutting out. Was hoping for a lot more.

Why people find it as stupid mistake? Defenders/players make similar contacts with the ball all the time, it's called instinctive reaction, he made a move with his arm even before Suarez touched it.

Stupid mistake was the one by Jones, that was stupid. Rooney giving away the ball all the time was also stupid.

That is if I was talking about the handball though and I wasn't. The handball isn't the pb for me, it's leaving Suarez with acres of space, that's asking for trouble.

You were talking about that tackle on Gerrard? My fault then, but still, that wasn't anything that stupid. Bit tough tackle, but you see them all the time.

Are there still fans who reckon that he's having a great season? IMO, he's the most overrated palyer in the league. Will change my opinion if he leads us to the CL final. Wouldn't hold my breath though. His new contract was a mistake.

There's not a "top" player on that much money in the world who has such a poor basic control of the ball.

It was really stupid, gave him a yellow card for nothing and could have easily been red carded. There was no need to throw himself against him but just because Rafa wanted to act like a tough man, he's been making these tackles on a regular basis. Absolutely nothing to gain from them but unnecessary bookings.

Very true, it's a joke when you think about how in some matches that said dreadful control can be excellent. Rooney is a wasted potential

He's quite the enigma. Has there ever been a player so talented but with such a bad bottom level?

Rooney signing on wasn't as positive a news as some people have made it out to be, I feel. This is the problem I have with him. He does not perform as a top player as often as he should.
