Oh my days:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

I know it's a bit mean, but I wanted to post this somewhere.

RvP: 2 games back from injury, 2 goals.
Mata: 2 games for a new club, 2 assists.
Rooney: No goals, no assists, wants a pay rise.

That's being extremely reactionary. Anyway Rooney always takes a while to get going after coming back.

I did say it was a bit mean, but it is a fact, nevertheless.
They also had 2 starts, whereas Rooney had 1 sub appearance (where he looked good) and a start where he was moved into midfield shortly into the game. It's a fact but so is a fact saying Rafael hasn't scored this season. It's a bit irrelevant since it isn't his job to score.

Extremely good footballer but I don't believe he is our best option as our #10 role. He lacks the subtlety to play there but pings 40 yard passes our wide way too often. If we want to modernise our football we should play either Mata or Kagawa in the hole.

It is Rooney's job to score and assist though, RvP hasn't played 90 minutes, over the 2 games probably played a few more minutes than Rooney.

Like I said, it's a bit mean, but both RvP and Mata have hit the ground running and done their job. Is Rooney really worth twice as much as Mata?

I want Rooney to stay at United, but don't take the the piss.

What's the point of this?

Please sign him up. And quick, especially after yesterday. I don't like the thought of losing this cnut.

For some reason, he stays most forward when he plays with van Persie(first half), but when he is with Welbeck or Chicharito he is playing much deeper, even though it should be completely different. I don't know whose idea is that, but it's ridiculous to watch. Whenever we play them together we are pretty much playing flat 442 with two strikers who are moving almost identically and are getting into each other ways all the time.

Looking likely that he may stay.

Wayne Rooney has hinted at positive contract talks with Manchester United by declaring his aim of beating Sir Bobby Charlton's scoring record.

Rooney's present deal expires at the end of next season, and with the 28-year-old 41 adrift of matching Charlton's overall 249-goal Red Devils career, realistically he will not pass it until the 2015-16 campaign.

That would evidently require Rooney to accept the lucrative new contract offer United are prepared to make.

"It is a great aim for myself to try and get Sir Bobby's record, both at club and international level," Rooney told BBC's Football Focus ahead of Sunday's Barclays Premier League encounter with rock-bottom Fulham.

"It is something which I would like to do. If I can do that I would be really proud because it has stood for a long time."

Rooney is 11 goals behind Charlton's England record of 49, having scored in the vital World Cup qualifying wins over Montenegro and Poland at Wembley in October.

United have struggled badly during David Moyes' debut campaign as manager, suffering their eighth Premier League defeat of the campaign at Stoke last Saturday.

It was a loss that left the Red Devils seven points adrift of fourth-placed Liverpool, which both Rooney and Moyes admit is their only realistic aim now.

"We know it is going to be extremely difficult to win the title now," said Rooney.

"There are a lot of points in between ourselves and a few teams.

"Realistically, the top four has got to be our aim. Although, as a club, we always want to win the league title maybe it might be a bit too far."

Moyes also expressed a similar view in United Review: "We must continue to stick together and try to produce enough wins to make sure we are in the Champions League next year.

"We will continue to do everything we possibly can to make that happen."

Moyes' own position is yet to come under threat, and Rooney does not believe the Scot bears the responsibility for results anyway.

"David Moyes is a fantastic manager," he said. "I worked with him at Everton and now I have worked with him for a number of months at Manchester United.

"He is doing everything he can do but it is the players - myself and the rest of the team - who have to do better."

Good stuff from Wayne. Fair play to him.

Watching Rooney and Ole having a few hugs when Cardiff came to Old Trafford last week and Bryan Robson saying Rooney is his favourite player in the squad at the moment shows that behind the scenes he is obviously liked. If he signs a new contract to stay here then we can be nothing but delighted. As long as he's not put in midfield he should still have some great years ahead of him

Need a big performance from him against Fulham, I'm sure he will deliver again.

I just want this team to click so fecking badly.

A performance when its not just Wayne dragging us forward but RVP linking up well along with Mata and Januzaj while the midfield behind them mops up and drives us on.

It will happen eventually but it's bloody frustrating waiting for it.

Excellent attitude from Rooney there, backing the manager and insisting the players have to get their shit together. Well done that man

It will.We have the front four in place.Once the CM is dealt with and a new LB we'll be fine.Oh and perhaps a CB! Bloody frustrating but we won't be down for too long!

He's not going to score many goals playing in midfield. Not going to be particularly useful playing there either if we bypass the midfield every time either. Put one of your three best players in the one position in the team that's practically redundant with how we set up. That's useful.

He's also not going to score goals with poor movement which seems to be the case when he plays with RVP recently. On the other side, he did well winning the ball back and had a good second half. He didnt lack for trying, but in the first half especially it wasnt really in the right areas.

Just wanted to update this.

He isn't having a great season. Hasn't had a truly great season since 2009/10. Was great for half a season 2010/11 and for the first 3 months or so 2011/12. Currently he is not in the top 3 of the attacking palyers in the league, probably not even in top 5.

He seems to click better with Mata than RVP.

They both work in the same area, most would have called that a negative but this isn't a Gerrard/Lampard situation. It's two selfless players who absolutely love to have a partner in crime to link up with.
