Negative interpretation.

Its my time to

Wtf are you on about?

Do you even know what you've written in the past? You're interpretation has been that what if Rooney fecks off with supposed transfer targets names and not sign a new contract which is something Christopher Nolan would be proud to make up! Go sell crazy someplace else.

This is tiresome and I really cant be bothered. I made 2 points. Read back if you have to.

Rooney ran up to Ole after the game.

Good cameo from him, can't wait to have him, Van Persie and mata all on form together. All looked good individually today, if unspectacular.

Good to see him back. Hopefully we can get him fully match fit quickly.

I really don't see what the big deal is over Rooney being informed we are looking to sign some big name players in the summer and who we are potentially looking at. I would actually expect any footballer looking to sign on or renew to be asking questions like what is the clubs plans and direction. They are going to be signing on board for the next X years, I would be wanting assurances that the club is heading in a direction that I agree with before signing up. If a club can't do that I would be looking elsewhere for one that could assure me they are moving in the direction that I want to head during my career.

Rooney was told we'll sign some big names. So was Mata. What's the big deal?

I already said its fair to give him broad plans. I think it must have happened too, no big deal. Its the bit that's been branded about him being told exact plans and being in on future dealings etc that simply cant be true.

As Sparky said in that post you quoted, our senior players have frequently been told about some specific players we were looking at signing and asked what they thought about it. It happened just a couple of years ago with van Persie. Rooney is the second longest serving player at the club and he was told about some significant transfer business - that's not news in any way. It's just an opportunity for the media to sell a few more papers if the right spin is put on it.

No big deal at all, as I said its absolutely normal. Its when people say he's been given specific info about our transfer plans, targets, future dealings and been given a say on what business we do in the future that I can bullshit.

Yes, and that spin is what I'm talking about. The way its being portrayed in some quarters, he's been given manager like privileges. Targets, future plans, say in what business we do etc. That is nonsense. I remember a journalist from the guardian or the telegraph saying that ofcourse he's been told about plans to get big players in but its nothing like some other media outlets are portraying it. That's what am saying.

Some of the media channels are eager to put a big spin on it to show how the club is bending over backwards for him, that's what am taking an exception to. Being asked an opinion on future players in one thing, but to give info like targets, a say in the dealings etc to convince him to say totally another.

He's a top player without a doubt but it makes me feel terribly uneasy to see the club throwing more money at him every couple of years - just in case the Scouse knob decides that playing for Manchester United is no longer something he wants to do.
The crowd chanting his name at every opportunity, giving him a verbal blow-job for taking a corner or running after a pass gets on my tits too.

I reckon nothing will be sorted until the summer. There will be continual speculation in the media...sometimes things leaked by club or Rooney's reps to fan rumours or try to get a message across. Then after the season is over...and probably before the world cup...an announcement one way or the other will be made. It's going to be a long few months with respect to The Rooney 'is he going, is he staying' debate

That spin is what you're reacting to, though? Giving him info about who we are targeting and letting him have some influence in some major signings is normal - that's what happened with van Persie and the others Sparky mentioned.

Hope he ends his career with us like Giggs. We are very lucky to have him we just paid a club record fee for Mata and I feel Rooney is a better player.

Come to think of it...£37m is the club record fee for 'the world's biggest club'? £37m...that's rather pathetic, and the sort of (relative) small-change that major & wannabe-major clubs past and present spend on, say, a goalkeeper or defender. United's proud tradition of developing young players & homegrown talents doesn't half play into our owners' hands; ie 'tradition' equals 'cheap'.

Truw, then again we might just brake a few more records this summer. What I dont understand is why we didnt go that high on our bids for Fabregas.

It was that Pete guy from Sky Sports and it Said Rooney had ended speculation and signed a new contract.

For all the people who just believe any numbers the media whips up about Rooney and his wages :

2010:
Rooney has become the best-paid player in the club's history by agreeing to a deal that doubles his wages to around £180,000 a week, after Sir Alex Ferguson talked him out of his apparent desire to join Manchester City
http://www.theguardian.com/football/2010/oct/22/wayne-rooney-staying-manchester-united

2013:
Only two years remain on Rooney's current £300,000-a-week contract and if fresh terms can be agreed they will be on a more incentivised basis, in line with a widespread move in the domestic game
http://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/jun/22/manchester-united-wayne-rooney

2014:
United have also shown a willingness to reward him financially, with reports of the deal being worth £300,000 a week. It may actually be below that figure but Rooney will have a testimonial as part of the agreement and the figures are still significant for a player who will turn 30 next year. Rooney can also expect to be made captain at some point in the next few years
http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/jan/26/wayne-rooney-david-moyes-manchester-united-transfer
So he gets rewarded financially but will be on the same wages? Makes sense!

Credit to roonster09 for this.

To be fair, they're from different journos. I'd be much more inclined to believe Daniel Taylor (1st and 3rd articles are his), so his story is consistent (although 180k is way below what most seem to think he's on)...

So he has signed a new deal then we reckon? F.a.p time.
