Moneymay, for some reason I wasn't able to see that video you posted earlier today, the rooney vs spurs one. is it unavailable in america or got taken down or summat?

Yeah, it just got blocked. Will put it up later in HD - maybe that will do the trick, as they say.

Keeping Rooney and getting him this motivated is probably the most impressive thing Moyes has done so far. Rooney deserves credit for reacting so well to not getting his move in the summer. I doubted the wisdom of keeping a player who wanted to leave as I thought Rooney's bad attitude would damage us during the season. Thank god I was wrong, I'd hate to think how we'd have coped if we'd lost him in the summer too. Great player.

Rooney won't stay, "No fecking way am I wasting my last few peak years going with a nothing midfield and a nothing manager playing nothing football 'helping' this club through a transition period".

Ok.

I never really had those doubts. For all his faults, Rooney is a real professional and a real football player in the sense that first and foremost, he does what's useful for the team. He's a winner, he has that mentality, and I don't think he'd ever do anything to harm the team - more than that, I always feel that he strives to do what will profit us more collectively. It's not really a surprise that a lot of us say 'the whole team plays better when he's on form' or 'he brings the best out of others', that's how his game is modelled. It's the reason why I'm such a fan and have been since day 1, I really think his style of play is unique in the modern game.

Third best player in the world right now I reckon.

Behind Ibrahimovic? Not even close. He's been performing at a higher level for a much longer period across all competitons.

Last 61 games - 49 goals and 16 assists.

Ronalso, Messi

Zlatan
Xavi, Iniesta, Falcao, RVP, Rooney, Aguero, Busquets, Bale, Yaya, Long

Consistency is his issue as other top players are able to hold their form at the highest level for longer, or not be near as ineffective when they aren't playing so well. He'll go through a burst and look close to the best in the world, then he will have a run of matches where he doesn't look like he's playing in the right league. Like this season so far, generally brilliant, but still more than a couple games where he was completely non-existant.

I was speaking to my uncle Ben on Saturday and said that Aaron Ramsey was almost certain to be the unanimous choice for footballer of the year. He took the glass of champagne out of my hand and said: 'You mean Wayne Rooney, don't you?' I told him that he had made a very good point and promptly went home.

Did you know? Rooney needs one more goal to become the second player to score 150 Premier League goals for one club (after Thierry Henry at Arsenal)

One of my personal favourites of his, it's serious too, he has a lot of time for Gareth Barry and Scott Parker, the 'lion' players...

EDIT: His posting lead to the great debate of 'Can we ban someone for an opinion, if it's that retarded...'

He's been brilliant all season, I must say. I will confess to being amongst those who wanted him to leave in the summer, for a number of reasons. Firstly, I will confess, was because I felt he had lost his way a bit. Secondly, because I thought he should not be allowed to continually dictate to us. And lastly, I felt his presence inhibited the team from evolving in the direction I felt it should do.

It is funny that a thread has popped up on Carrick potentially inhibited the progress of the team. I think that Rooney and Carrick, despite being two of our very best players, are an interesting conundrum. Both are excellent, and should rightly play when fit. That said, I am not convinced we will ever be the modern team we may aspire to be as long as they are in the team. Ultimately, I am happy to have them here, but they are two players that I hope are 'replaced' with players of slightly different qualities.

The 'current' version of Rooney is my favourite so far.. seems to combine all the best elements of all the 'in form' Rooney's of the past... flair, goals, creativity, tracking back, solid hold up play, movement, set pieces. If he was playing for Real Madrid/Bayern up front, he'd be raking even more goals in.

Interesting call, I wouldn't say that Ramsey or Rooney has unanimously outshone the other, but for me Rooney would win it because I feel Ramsey's is a lot due to his rise, for example, he rose from say an overall of 80 to 90, but Rooney is still performing consistently at a 91 if that makes sense... For me Rooney is still currently the better player and has enjoyed a better season, despite Ramsey's killer start.

They'll probably give it to Andros Townsend, who is little use to anybody to be honest.

He's improved so much in 09/10 playing as a lone striker. I remember him playing as a the leading centre-forward and struggling in 11/12. He looks better and more composed.

A lot of records in his sight this season. 1 more EPL goal and he becomes the 5th joint highest scorer of all time in the premier league, 2 goals and he becomes the 5th highest out right. 4 more EPL goals and he will have scored his 150th for United. 7 goals to become 3rd joint highest United scorer in history and 8 goals to become 3rd highest scorer in United history out right. His next CL goal will also be his 30th (hopefully today if he plays).

Update:

He has become the 5th highest scorer in PL history with 164 goals. 1 goal away from 150 PL goals for us. 5 goals away from becoming our 3rd highest scorer of all time. Likely to register his highest ever assist tally also.

Basically, he's excellent.

Is Kevin the 'berry berry shrew' poster?

Can't say for definite, I know him as the 'Replace Carrick and the other wasters with real players like Barry and Parker, then we should sign Carlton Cole and get rid of Rooney the 'useless lump', was his thoughts... After I found out he was serious I just left him to it :)

Just heard this on the Football Ramble... Garth Crooks is mental.

Aguero and Suarez have been better than both.

Ramsey is doing absolutely everything, this run he's on is one of the finest by a Prem midfielder in yonks. I'm not gonna say easily or anything, but he's at worst joint best player this year.

Agree with that, Ramsey has been unreal so far and deserves to win it at this rate.

I doubt he can keep it up, but I've been thinking that all season and he continues to do so.

I also think Rooney, Ramsey and Aguero on a wider scale are above Suarez, all three have been pretty impressive in getting their teams through group stages of the CL too, and in Ramseys case, the qualifiers. Obviously that doesn't matter if it's Prem only, but most in football rank the CL above the League.

Was great in the first half but seemed to completely lose it after the yellow card.

we're fecked against Newcastle
