Nah - I still do - even if he's playing very well.
He has been all season. He's making it difficult to hate him at the moment.
There were a few times he tried to knock it past his man and run, only to instead hit it straight at them and leave Arsenal counter-attacking, but overall he was fecking immense.
Did he? All I remember from commentary was him saying that in big games it's unlikely to be given.
He was everywhere, sure, but I'd much prefer he be actually creating chances in the role behind the striker he so covets. The MOTD graphic depicting his touches actually demonstrated how little he actually operated in that area. For what it's worth, I had the same reservations about Tevez when he was here.
Didn't think he was all that good. He put in a brilliant shift, but his touch was awful, his passing was ropey and he should've scored the chance he put wide. Nowhere near his best perform and while probably being harsh, he wasn't MOTM for me. Jones or Smalling.
I dont think his touch was awful, just his finishing, he could have scored a couple with a bit more composure. But on the whole he was absolutely brilliant, days like yesterday remind me how damn lucky we are to have him.
As to whether it is evidence that he has fallen back in love with Man United, I am not so sure. I think Rooney loves playing football and is motivated by it being a World Cup year. I still suspect he will be off when circumstances allow, but if he plays like that in the meantime I cant begrudge him that.
Why would he want to leave when he's playing like that and the crowd singing his name every game? It must have been a dozen times last night i heard the crowd chanting 'Rooney, Rooney'. Come on Wayne, sign the damn contract
Clear penalty on him as well.. Giroud goes for the man and not the ball. Look at the contact Giroud makes with both legs.
I laughed to myself when he was running up the left and basically tripped over his own feet, knocking the ball out of play, to be met with a chorus of "Rooney! Rooney!" from the crowd. I could just imagine the reaction if Nani had done the same.
Spell it out for us, Nick. Would they still be chanting "Rooney!"?
Yeah, Rvp.Maybe it's sidekick in the way that Cash is to Tango, or Murtaugh is to Riggs, or Buzz to Woody... as in a sidekick, but in an even partnership. (but on an unspoken level, we all know who the main guy is...)

After the drama of yesterday and the rightful praise he has received for his hard work, pressing and general impact, there's still far too many occasions when he picks up the ball in the centre and doesn't do anything subtle or technically excellent to split a defence. Too wasteful to play in that role if we harbour any aspirations of becoming top dogs in Europe, and I assume that is the aim.
He's a world class striker and the perhaps most underrated finisher in the game, but a genuine #10 he is not. I still want to see him either up top or as an inside forward, as he could thrive off of the passes Januzaj or Kagawa could provide from the centre. A proper #10 and a shift towards a style of play that involes a lot more off the ball movement is still a necessity for me.
I still think we'd be best suited team wise to drop our wingers, it would just need a huge amount of time invested in the change and we'd have to accept that it would take a while for it to translate into consistent results.

Yeah, DDG is great and all but I'm not sure I'd play him up front.
Actually, on closer inspection, it looks like you have the whole team backwards Pexbo. Radical approach but I'm not sure it'd ever work.

It's funny how much hyperbole there is today after yesterdays workhorse performance. He played well, but he was making stupid mistakes all game which could have cost us if we played against a team that turned up.
That is the clearest penalty you will ever see. Neville on commentary goes "you have to do more than that to get a penalty". Bizarre.
Anyone who can not see Rooney has been our best player this season so far is a tit. So is anyone who couldn't see rvp was our best player last season.
He is still a bellend though.
My only moan, and it's not technically about Rooney is why does he get praised so much for working hard..... Surely that is the least that should be expected from every single player?
