What a player. Everyone who wants him to leave should be ashamed. A real honour to have a player of such quality at this football club.
Deserves a new contract in all honesty, sure his form can fluctuate wildly, and you may be still pissed at him (I still am to some degree), but there isn't another player in our squad who bring that level in attack, defence, and everything else like he did today.

I will put up my hand and admit it I was wrong. When in mood, he can really turn it on when he wants.

It's games like this that justifies him playing centrally instead of any other player in the club. He might misplace passes but plays with such heart and passion. A glorious performance.

What a performance from him today. Seeing him play like he is this season gives me hope that he'll stay at United more then just this season. I think what was missing last season was that he wasn't seen as the main man, or the key player, the way he was moved around the pitch and put in to do defensive work against Madrid, or just simply dropped for the second game. You can tell now with Moyes he's seen as the main man again and Rooney is thriving because of it.

Anyone know his current stats for this season so far? He was an absolute beast today and I never thought I would be saying this but he is absolutely vital to our squad we need to tie him down.
He was the talisman. Led from the front and drove us on all over the pitch. We'd be in much worse shape if he left in the summer.

We really need to lock him up for the rest of his playing days. Can't see why he wouldn't now that he is being played in his preferred position by Moyes and being made the focal point of the team.
In terms of effort, work rate and determination he was fantastic. Really led by example. However, his football wasn't great at all. Poor touch and sloppy passing.
Just don't understand why Rooney would want to leave this club? Makes money, wins trophies and is guaranteed to become a club legend if he stays and he wants to throw it all away. If it's just a case of wanting to try himself out somewhere else then fair enough. Not everyone is Giggs

Rooney isn't the brightest chap around and his agent is also probably a greedy cnut. Rooney is made to finish his career at Utd, no other club will suit him like this one.
I wonder if anyone has the stats on his running distance today. He basically sprinted and tried to close everything down. It was a brilliant performance and showed a lot of leadership qualities. Made everyone else work that bit harder.
Something like 11.1km it said on Sky, more than any other United player. Only Ramsey covered more ground in the game.
I think it was 11km and only Ramsey had outran him today. That is pretty far considering he is a forward.

Yeah I think he was decent. Good at best due to his effort. But he should have played a lot better. In fact I thought Kagawa out performed him from the left in the first half. Rooney was also pretty poor infront of goal.
