Wayne Rooney | 2012-14 Performances

Getting hit in the ass because he's busy appealing for a non-penalty has to be the low point. He could trapped that ball right on the edge of the area, with a decent amount of space around him - but no, he was busy throwing his hands in the air and turning his back on the ball. In fairness to Rooney, he's not the only player who does that - but it still annoys the feck out of me.

He was poor. These are the games that we won't Rooney to be better in. He usually scores, but his all-round performance is usually shocking. I thought he looked a bit tired. He should have taken a shot when Nani passed it to him in the end.

He was far from shite. Not as good as he has been in the last few weeks sure enough but that does not equate to shit

He was decent until they scored their second.

Then he either bottled it or completely ran out of gas. Had no first touch and looked sluggish.

The notion that he is captaining Manchester United after what he has done is sickening.

Yes, we've never had captains who've held us to ransom, threatened to leave the club and criticised the team and the direction its going. Never.

What is that need to play one-twos even when they visibly aren't on? Frustrating. Should be shooting in those position. The worst one was in the second half when he could just make a little turn and strike it. Instead decided to play the impossible ball to Nani in a crowded area. The same before but with Van Persie.

His decision making in the final third was diabolical today.

Lost the spark and yard of pace he seemed to have picked up a week ago. Don't think he ever ran at full speed today. Maybe 3 games in a week was too much.

After good start of the season, today he was really poor, and should have scored in first half, but that thing around his head didn't help him in those two situations too. He is probably tired.

Yeah, I'm putting this poor performance down to tiredness. His first touch and passing were poor, but he can't be fully blamed.

Can see him thinking "Get me the hell out of here, not wasting my remaining few peak years to wait until Moyes might or might not get it right".

Unsurprising his level dipped today, he's played in too many consecutive games and they've pretty much been every three days. Rio and Vidic looked off the pace in the derby for that very reason. Fine margins at the top level but expecting a top class performance from him without even one game rest is too much. I said before the gave that RvP maybe should have started behind Hernandez since he had a couple games rest.

Cant help thinking Rooney being made captain has not gone down well with some of the players, just a feeling.
As for this nonsense about him being either tired or unfit when he doesn't play well..............please.

Personally I hope he moves on, further away the better.
Manchester United will still be here and will be better off without him.

Absolute bollocks.

But if he is rested he throws a bitch fit and wants to leave.........what to do what to do...............

Thought he was generally good but thought his touch let him down, there was a clear difference imo between how nani was able to pick up one if carricks fizzed central balls and turn towards their goal and how Rooney was controlling it which seemed to stop him being able to fully turn on it. Hopefully down to a bit if tiredness. Alwaus thought that was one of his biggest problems as a number ten in recent years. Too often he doesn't end up facing the opposition goal and so ends up playing his wide pass rather than something through the module be it a run or pass.

Can you tell me why?

I wanted to, as I don't like to just post something like 'absolute bollocks' and move on but your post seemed totally ridiculous to me to explain further given the timing of it.

About it not going well with players on Rooney being made captain: 1) it was just for couple of games when Vidic and Evra were not playing 2)you just need to see how he was surrounded by players after his goals (vs west brom as well as previously)

About selling him: he is our best player at the moment and giving everything for club and hence a ridiculous timing to talk about Rooney moving on. Generally one would expect someone to say that when it is not working both on and off the pitch

Thought Giggs should have been the captain against Liverpool.

See, that way Rio should have been vs West Brom but both Rio and Giggs are in all probability in their last season and there is nothing wrong with making Rooney captain. He has leadership qualities and I doubt both Giggs and Rio will mind it too much. Plus, in football it hardly matters who is the captain and you will often see certain types of players pushing team, rallying, irrespective of whether they are wearing armband or not(at all clubs). So it is a non-issue really.

Its not ridiculous at all, he wanted to leave and more than likely still does. Manchester United don't want to sell him , certainly not to a rival which is understandable.
So its up to him now as to whether he spits the dummy or gets on with it. Its clearly in his best interest to knuckle down and get on with it.
It just doesn't feel right to me to make him captain, not exactly a player for the young players to look up to.
He clearly enjoys scoring himself, didn't really seem all that happy when the goals were flowing at Swansea.
My belief is that he still wants to leave and will leave sooner rather than later, I for one won't shed a tear. Manchester United will survive long after Mr Moneybags moves on.

If you think this is absolute bollocks, fine that's up to you. I personally think you are being very short sighted.

So how serious is his shin injury.....will he be available for this weekend?
