He was superb tonight and he was probably the only man to have played well for us against City, welcome back Wayne.
Since Ronaldo left, well first of all Rooney has played well since then believe it or not, I don't understand how tonight confirmed anything. Other players, first up, I will go Scholes, just a pleasure to watch. The likes of Rio and Vidic have been rocks for years, they don't get the flashy headlines Ronaldo did but I appreciate their roles just as much. Carrick was amazing last season, the likes of RVP, one of the greatest strikers in the world has been great to watch since his time at United. What players? When is the last time you saw a performance like that?
I would pay to watch so many of the United players, past a present. That takes nothing away from Ronaldo or Rooney it's just I don't see how Rooney's performance tonight was the best since Ronaldo left.
You wouldn't pay to watch Scholes? Vidic? Carrick? RVP?I did not say that, I said that since Ronaldo left there has not been a player that I would gladly pay to watch. Rooney did it for me tonight. Bums on seats, excitement.
He is far from simple, misguided maybe. On the pitch he is an excellent captain. Led by example tonight.
What the hell is Van Persie then? Not since Ronaldo left have we had a player that you would gladly pay to watch. Tonight, Rooney became that player. Aggressive, pinpoint passing, running, commitment. A joy to watch, and when he continues to get better then he will be scary.
Our captain (something Ronaldo could never be).

Look he did well tonight, but cmon people (Livewire mainly) are going overboard.
Keane against Juventus this was not.
But surely you would pay to see him play, no?A lad from Holland and a Manchester United player, you should know that? Different style to Rooney though, still brilliant. Dont see RVP as captain material though.
I'd take Scholes over him, for a start.
He's in the form of his bloody life, and it's all in preparation for his move to Chelsea.

He seems to have gained a yard of pace too.

It's a bit strange giving him the armband though. Not that I'm against anything that gets the best out of Wayne, but giving the captaincy to a player who twice wanted out of the club in three years?
Aye, it's amazing what a bit of conditioning work can do. Really speaks ill of his efforts over the last year or so, in my opinion.
It's obvious he wants Rooney to feel loved, so he'll sign a new contract. Wazza's a simple soul after all. If Fergie did it he'd be hailed as a great man manager. No doubt some will spin it as a sign of moyes being weak.
Even Im enjoying his current performances. Long may it continue.
Yup, said it last week, it's all he wants, the simpleton.
Immense again last night, I'll keep saying it, our best player when on form.
fecking hell, he can't win
No white text?
He's been fantastic this season. Sadly though I think he realized that not enough top clubs were in for him this summer because of a bad year so he wants to have a good season to get a transfer to somewhere like Madrid.
That's just what I'm guessing the reason he's so fired up is. As great as he is, and I've always loved him as a player, I do think he still plans to leave next summer.

True though, this is how Rooney should have been all along.
