I reckon he was just being rested, and the injury story is just to avoid media speculation.

It's the way he was so precise about the injury wasn't it? He and Danny Welbeck knocked shins and Rooney had a big lump... that's far too much information for it to be true right!? That's the sort of detail you go into if you're trying to sell a lie... LIES DAMNIT.

I am sure he got a knock, but he would have played if Moyes wanted him too.

For me it's no coincidence that Fergie was spouting off about him wanting to leave again and his knock that mysteriously swelled up a day later making him unavilable.

Doubt Moyes would let him sit out of a game because of something Fergie said.

Ibrahimovic has 'urged' Rooney to join PSG, saying he wants to leave and we are doing badly this season. I posted it in the Zlatan thread.

1 thing I never understand is why proffesionals do not wear shin pads in training?.

Surely when things are so high tempo injuries are going to happen. Its not difficult to wear a pair of shin pads, its just pure laziness really.

This is why he just isn't world class. Too many games like this.

I'd say he's world class, but you're right. It's games like this which frustrate us. And it's not that he has a few of these games. It seems that he starts off brilliantly (peaks too early), and then plays average for the rest of the season.

That pass when he had that elephant touch before running and making the foul, before he was about to control it I knew he was gonna lose it. It was typically what Rooney does on a shit day.

Those two games when he looked like he actually gave a feck were great though.

This is worst than Kagawa's any performance(apart that friendly against Sevilla maybe, but even there he had some few touches). I am not on FreeSHinji brigade, but if he was subbed off the other weak when he was mroe than decent, than Rooney should have been subbed off 15 minutes ago.

Thirs highest chosen person if I have counted correct, did alright from what I remember. Wasn't nearly as bad as today

Mate, he was poor. Look at the match thread. I've even got the full match on my hard drive and watched it earlier. His touch and passing were off. And it says a lot that I only managed to cut a couple of clips from the game. I actually blamed his poor performance vs WBA on tiredness. Not sure what excuse I can use this time.

Thought he'd been good since this season - sure he was poor against WBA but so was everyone. But he's been really poor today - touch, passing and decision making have all been sadly lacking.

There's no doubting we're a better team with him in (generally) but for a supposedly World Class player, he has far far too many off-days.

I thought first half he didn't look like his energy/concentration was there, much like RVP. Certainly improved second half. I'm slightly concerned though that Moyes doesn't think he can sub either RVP/Rooney off, as certainly had we not gotten the goal, I would say the issues in attack were more in these two than the wide attackers/midfielders.

Player power. We can't sub Rooney off, we want to keep him. Simple as that.

Only after we already scored two, he continued his form from first half in first 15-20 minutes of second half.

True, I thought it was both of them, particularly RVP who were looking a little lacking in fitness today.

He may as well have been playing for Sunderland for the first 75 minutes.

Rooney Player of the Month comp will come out today/early hours tomorrow. Also, Brwned will post something interesting in this thread, once I finish off his request. ;)

Not his best day but neither him or RvP shone. The big issue still remains his contract, if the intent is still to keep him then it needs sorting in January, same with Januzaj, so we can focus on buying players in the summer rather than having drama over potential losses.

Rendering the Rooney video. Video will be up today.

1 reply = 1 respect pls

Rvp didnt get into the game because the supply into him wasnt good enough. Rooney didnt get into the game because he was closed down fast and his touch was poor

Looking forward to the video MoneyMay!

Thanks, mate. Looking to do something different, hopefully this works. I took away the intro for this video. Not sure if posters will like the music, but there's commentary, so we'll see. Half an hour until video is finished uploading.

Enjoy, lads. Hoping that this is decent enough.

Edit - forgot to crop a logo. Thanks, Walsh. Will have to re-render and re-upload.

Worked his arse off for us today. Especially towards the end. Just never kept running and chasing down the ball even when some of his touches weren't going his way.

A bit worrying that we aren't creating much for him and RVP but I think that will come in time. Hopefully Rooney can stay fit because the partnership between him and RVP is starting to blossom. You can see the interplay and understanding has been improving. Now if only we can get them both some goals in open play then im sure the floodgates will open.

Nice video, MM. Thanks.

I thought Rooney improved in the latter stages of the game yesterday. Had a decent second half I thought.
