Considering how tightly he was marked and by a world class defender, in addition to be surrounded by utter shite team mates, thought he was very good today.
Apologies, thought I was in a different thread. Rooney was our best player, but that doesn't say much.

Rooney was in the pocket of Kompany for the whole game. Save his day with that wonderful freekick, but overall, he was poor. Talking talking talking...
One of the best today for sure, but still nothing to celebrate.
I agree he was our best player - the only player (other than maybe Vidic) who seemed to have the right attitude, quite ironic considering we know he doesn't want to be here any more.
Do we really know that he doesn't want to be with the club anymore? Bearing in mind that he's not come out and officially said that he doesn't, and, also bearing in mind that he's been our best player this season (so far), I'm of the opinion that catty comments like this are getting to be unnecessary. There's no reason to bookend every bit of warranted praise for the player with some negative comment about the man.
Sorry, but how was he our best player?
Shame he didn't have more room to play, I think he would have if Chicha was ahead of him distracting the defence. Game could have been quite different.
Of course RvP adds a whole different outlook on the game. I'm just thinking upon what options were available.Shame RVP was injured. Both he and Rooney has excellent games in this same fixture last year.. when you think back to the first goal where RVP does that excellent chest lay off to Young who sprint and releases Rooney.
He was superb yesterday. I'd agree with Moyes that he was the best player on the pitch considering how bad his 10 team mates were.
I wouldn't go with 'superb' ... 'superb' was what he was against Leverkusen... yesterday he was the best out of a bad bunch, and whilst his effort has to be comended, he was still guilty of some really sloppy passing, (and some awful set peices until he finally got his shit together and put one on Evra's head and one into the top corner) and I don't think Kompany or Nastasic were ever really worried by him.
His free kick was superb mind... but he wasted it on this game. Reminded me of that fantastic strike he did in Bilbao... he should be saving that shit up for games we can celebrate!
People who wanted Rooney gone in the summer need to wake up and lose the ridiculous and arrogant notion that Manchester United are a unique football club which all players should worship and aspire to play for above all other clubs. It's simply wrong. United are one of many elite clubs in European football, and most certainly are not the top attraction at this point in time. With this in mind, the club simply could not afford to lose a genuine world class player of Rooney's ability in the summer. If we are too maintain our status as one of the top clubs in Europe, then players like Rooney must be secured at whatever the cost. We have some very arrogant and spoiled fans who think we are guaranteed success each season regardless of the quality of our players and squad. Rooney is by far the club's most valuable and important player, an absolute treasure that must be secured.
For once in a long while Rooney actually seems bothered.
He is actually running at defenders with the ball and genuinely seems to be trying 100%.
I think that is all really the fans have asked for. When you see him playing in this form you really do question whether he was trying before under fergie.
Fingers crossed though he keeps this up, as a fit and hungry Rooney is definitely a player you want to keep.
He was fairly good but it's fair to say kompany won that battle quote easily.
