Yeah, because Iniesta never supplements his midfield. An attacking player today is supposed to help out in winning the ball back - not like Romario who hardly moved two feet unless he had a goal scoring opportunity.

Iniesta isn't a striker though.

I see, support a player that's been with the club for 10 years and scored 200 goals for us and get branded a fanboy.. Instead lets all go nuts over Arsenal Legend RVP who has been with us for one whole year.
People were going nuts over Rvp, who isn't considered an arsenal legend anyway, due to his performances. Nothing else. And if rvp keeps throwing childish fits and wants out, he'll get the same treatment. It's all logical really. I'm not sure why anyone gets confused by any of it.

The talk of Rooney wanting out and being forced to stay is all nonsense. Despite not coming out and clearing the whole matter up, he never came out and said he wanted to leave. Paper will never refuse ink and if we continue to discuss it, the media will continue to shovel it.

Didn't SAF say Rooney told him he wanted to leave? Didn't Moyes refuse to say "Rooney wants to stay" every time he was asked? All Moyes ever said is "we will not sell him", which isn't the same thing. Yet you seriously think it was all made up by the press?

Cristiano Ronaldo

Fergie said Rooney wanted to leave. I don't need anything else to believe be it. The great mans word is moored than enough.

Previously, when queried on the Roy Keane issue he told the press that Keane was well and training only for the news of his departure to be announced just a couple of hours later.

I think Fergie would say and do whatever is good for the club. Not necessarily lie, but it may not be the whole truth either...and this is what happed in Rooney's case too, I believe

I had the same views on Ronaldo. Check out his thread.

Fair enough then but there are many others across the forum who do seem to show some double standards.

I don't think he and Rvp are the same player, mate.

You seem to have you footballers mixed up.

You know what I mean.

You're right. Fergie has an absolutely spotless record when it comes to speaking the truth.

To be fair, Rooney has every right to ask for a transfer, and the club to sell.

Sir Alex was telling the truth. He did ask for transfer, although it was a verbal request. If anyone not believing Rooney was looking for a move away from United are naive. Mourinho also said he was given encouragement by the player.

This from the Guardian

"The person that started the story has to finish the story," he said after Chelsea's goalless stalemate at Old Trafford. "A club like us, a manager like me, the people that work in the club with me… we are not silly to try to get a player from a big club that doesn't sell what they don't want to sell.
"We are not silly to try something if somebody didn't start it. So I think it is time for the good of everyone to finish the story. For one side, for the other side."
Asked to clarify whether he would like Rooney to state publicly if he wanted to quit United, Mourinho replied: "Yes, I would like.

Like the encouragement Fabregas and gang gave us?

Aye, I think it's clear he wanted out. And I think it's clear too that he told Fergie something along those lines. We don't know what form this took, though. Given Fergie's other comment, that Rooney should take some time off and think about his situation, it sounds like a bust-up between the two of them more than anything: Rooney had a problem with being dropped, or something of the sort, Fergie told him that if he had played better he wouldn't have been dropped, or something - and Rooney responded by threatening to leave. Or something. I'm sure similar incidents take place every day across the Premier League. It's just that Fergie went on to retire shortly afterwards, and the two of them never kissed and made up. That's my take on it, anyway. If Fergie had stayed on I suspect he would've tried to reason with Rooney before letting him go. And he obviously wouldn't have allowed him to go to Chelsea (either).

Giggs was booed and it was because of poor form, for a long time. I think if Rooney says anything remotely positive about settling down for the season, the fans will be behind him.

Correct. Though I think it had to do with rumours he was off to Italy as well.

I wouldn't have said that is a very "one footed" stat personally. Obviously his right foot is going to be more prolific, but 24 goals with his left is good.

When Messi scored his 234th goal for Barca, the number of goals scored with his left was 185, and his right was 37. You can never expect a player to have 100 on left and 100 on right.

I know there's white text, but still - just thought it's worth comparing how similar the ratio is :D

Fair enough :)

He really does make those hollywood passes look ridiculously easy. Doesn't seem the need to put any effort into them.

And it was a breath of fresh air seeing him going at players again - we've missed that explosive side of Rooney for a number of years now.

Indeed. Rooney's sharpness has returned. He's not at his best just yet, but the fact he's trying to go past players, nutmegging them, and making these small turns, is appeasing to the eye. Even the diagonal balls look very good and more crisp.

Nice, the other moment I enjoyed was the nut meg on the right hand side. Are you the person who posted this on twitter, by the way?

Epic control and great panna. I'll upload that now for you. And yes, I am.

The alternative version by BeardedGenius is also pretty good(in reference to MUTV's Rooney 200 graphic)

Hoping for another good display from him against City. He usually turns up for this one, so I expect him to have a good one.
