Valencia and Evra seems like top blokes for United, and Carrick too. Valencia even sacked his agent as he had no intention of leaving. Quite unlike Rooney, who only seems to be playing for himself these days. I honestly don't care if he plays well; players like him is not what United need. We criticise and laugh at Liverpool for playing Suarez; I think they do the same towards us for playing Rooney.

What an embarrassing post.

Better than yours at any rate.

"Rooney only plays for himself"

What's wrong with that? As Hitchcocker pointed out, has there really been anything to suggest otherwise? He's made it clear he wants to change clubs, and he looks to give his all on the pitch - probably for himself as he doesn't value the club all that much.

You really know how to make solid arguments... And those laughing faces - come on.

You can say that about plenty of players, most of them infact. To use that and say "He's not the kind of player United need" is just stupid. On the pitch he gives it his 100% and is no more selfish than any of our other players. As long as he keeps doing that I don't give a shit whether he does it for himself or not. Saying that he's done his fair bit for the team over the 9 years.

Roy Keane, despite his cuntishness will always be a "great United player". Wayne Rooney will be the same. Perhaps not universally loved like Charlton etc. but his status cannot be denied.

What a horrible comparison. Oh and calling one of our greatest ever players a "cnut"? Lovely.

Roy Keane is one of the best CM's I've ever seen but he is a cnut and a bitter one at that

Let's be honest, great player as Keane was, he hasn't exactly helped his overall legacy with some of the stuff he has spouted since leaving. Will never tarnish the memories of what he did on the pitch, just our view him as an actual person.

Keane is a winner. Cantona & Best both did questionable things off the pitch, but yet everyone shits on Keane.

Like what? That Nani deserved a red card? He's also said a lot of positives things.

Just to highlight the double standards. The way some people keep going on about Rooney you'd think he burned down Ferguson's statue and smeared shit all over the seats at Old Trafford while singning "always look on the runway for ice".

Clutching at straws more like. Comparing this to Rooney's behavior in 2010 and 2013 is total nonsense.

He has a problem with SAF and has said some bitter things about him, but I think he's always been respectful towards the club, unless I'm forgetting something.

Cantona's cuntishness was limited to his pre-United days mostly. Since he joined us and retired he's done nothing cnutish as far as I can remember

I'm convinced if Keane had been a Mediterranean winger or a creative attacker, he'd be forgiven a lot more. He's much less of a "cnut" than Ronaldo.

What? I am not a big fan of Ronaldo's antics before he left us either

What I'm saying is. No one ever calls these players "cnuts" yet Keane is always branded one. You know what? He can say whatever the feck he wants. He gave 100% when he was at this club, was our greatest captain, and arguably our best midfielder.

Christiano Ronaldo has averaged 19.8 goals/season over 6 seasons. Rooney has 19.8 goals/season over 10 seasons here. Ronaldo did actually feck off chasing his dream, Rooney is still here.
I really don't see why Rooney contribution should ever take a backstage when he has offered more than Ronaldo! If and when he does actually break the goal record, people will just mention this as a passing memory. He will be a United Legend.

Any nobody should say Rooney does not give his best on the pitch! Just like any other player he has his off days, but he has never shied from his job in a match.

And yet people do, so go figure. (it must be the media/anti-rooney conspiracy)

He was clearly bitter at his exit- all the stuff like he wouldn't go back to OT etc...I agree Keane has almost become a folk demon and I'll always love what he brought to our club. Maybe the fact he tells what he sees as the truth whether people like it or not gets people's backs up.

"People say he stood by me in difficult times," the Irishman added.
"But he didn't when I was 34, not when I was towards the end and had a few differences with (former United assistant boss) Carlos Queiroz. All of a sudden then, 'Off you go, Roy, and here's the statement we've done."'

Whatever though, let's just remember him on the pitch, the same with Giggs and his odious private life.

He's also a legend who gets his name sung at every other game, do you think we will sing Rooney name if he moves to another club like Ronaldo did? Keano speaks his mind, there is no fecking about with him which is something I like but it is probably why so many supporters hate him.

To be fair, I've not heard his song sung at Old Trafford for over a year.

Rooney to me looks like he's giving everything on the pitch so no issues there, personally I never thought it would be an issue. However there still doesn't seem to be any resolution in what actually got us to this situation in the first place which was Rooney being dropped for playing below par. At the moment he's playing as well as anyone so it's not an issue but once he has a poor run that's where it will be interesting to see what happens.

Why is it stupid to say that he's not the type of player United need when Ferguson said the exact same thing. If a player is becoming greater than the club, it is time for him to leave. If he only plays for himself, he is not what the team needs in the long run. You may not give a shit, but personally I do, and I ridicule Liverpool for the way they handled the Suarez saga. Now I'm not sure United handled the Rooney saga all that much better.

He's getting a lot of stick in the media today for playing yesterday and being pictured out in Manchester last night. It's so OTT.

HE IS ONLY HERE BECAUSE TWICE WHEN HE HAS WANTED TO LEAVE NOBODY HAS GONE FOR HIM.

If Chelsea really wanted him they'd have stumped up more cash to seriously make us consider.

If you're talking about 2010 then you're kidding yourself. There would have been plenty of takers for him then if he hadn't done a U-turn.

In the time between Fergie saying he wants to leave, and then Rooney doing a U-Turn, who was linked with him? I remember only City and Mancini saying it's a tactic for a pay rise

City would have been in for him. Jose admitted that Real would bid if he really wanted out. It happened between windows but if it had got to January and he still was asking to leave there would have been a bun fight.

Take a look at what he's done so far this season. Whether you like him or not he's a half useful player, to say the least. You're kidding yourself if you think he isn't sought after. He doesn't want to leave the country, that seems obvious. The suitors are necessarily limited to just a couple of clubs (Chelsea and possibly Arsenal). His odious agent has no doubt made it clear to continental clubs that it ain't on. Do you seriously believe there would've been no interest from the continent if Rooney had declared his willingness to leave the Premier League?

Chelsea could've doubled their bid and it still would've been rejected. It wasn't about money. Chelsea probably hoped he was "unsettled" enough that we would ship him out because he had become a nuisance more than a resource. Fair assumption based on what has been painted in the media. Not accurate, though, as has been proved lately. Moyes and Rooney get on well, much better than Maureen had hoped for.

A Guardian commentator called it 'a glaring piece of treason!'

Just a little dramatic, although i do think that it is a matter whick Rooney should clarify bearing in mind the relative importance of the qualifier. All the more so following Welbeck's suspension.

Of corse Hodgson is somewhat trapped by his own weakness and inflexibility as manager.

Are they suggesting Rooney's more committed to playing for United than England? Have they not been reading their own articles for the last 5 months?

Right at this moment yes you can wonder at that.

Back to events at United, did he really blow kisses at the crowd on Saturday? The badge get a peck too? :smirk:
