He did after he retired though.
I don't think anyone will class Keane as a United legend based on his post-United career, funnily enough.
He did after he retired though.
Keane never acted like a spoiled brat.
He will always be a United-legend, but he simply isnt doing himself any favours by his attitude towards the club after his playing career with us. There is a difference between being a United-legend and a United-hero though, as silly as it sounds. You can be a legend despite being a total cnut, but a hero is as much to do what you do on the pitch as how the supporters feelings towards a player.

He had this very public contract haggling, he had the infamous MUTV interview where he was actually insulting some players and questioning Fergie's judgment and he acted like a cnut in the whole Haaland incident. He was no saint. His legendary status is entirely down to his performances on the pitch.
Yes, because being a great player is all it takes to become a club legend isn't it?
Tried the Hollywood lob when he should've passed it.
Then passed it to Hernandez when he should've spanked it first time.
Otherwise, fairly positive performance. So glad we didn't sell him to Chelsea, they look shit up front.
I still see Keane as a legend but many will disagree with that. If Rooney stays for a couple of years he will break the record Bobby set but that won't make him a club legend, he will still go down as one of our greatest players.Roy Keane, huh? How many rants has he had against the club and its players? Still a legend, and so will Rooney, if he does not leave next season.
And he always gave everything on the pitch.
And so did Rooney. He is shite sometimes, yes, but Keane didn't always perform brilliantly either.
By the way, at roughly the same age as Rooney is now, Scholes actually refused to play in a League Cup game. Outright refused it. Even he wasn't always flawless and fully dedicated.

.Nope..

Muffed a cheeky outside of the foot ball to Valencia if we're being honest.
.
That's irrelevant, and yes he acted like a cnut after retiring. At least he was 100 % dedicated when he was here.
As is Wayne Rooney
Two hundred goals ,Will be a fantastic achievement ,but United Legend maybe stretching it.
Even if he sulks or "looks disinterested" as in the Swansea game, he still quite clearly gives his all.As his sulking demonstrated.

Did he or did he not give it his all vs Swansea?Sulking and looking disinterested would kind of imply the opposite.
Bringing up this about Scholes to defend Rooney, absolutely pathetic
Just to highlight the double standards. The way some people keep going on about Rooney you'd think he burned down Ferguson's statue and smeared shit all over the seats at Old Trafford while singning "always look on the runway for ice".
It's not really double standards at all - Scholes is a club role model and undisputed legend, Rooney's a dickhead.
That's the point: someone can be a role model even if they had some... questionable incidents in their past. Rooney had far more than Scholes, obviously, and he'll never be a role model but he'll still go down as a legend, considering everything he achieved here.
By the way, I do think Roy Keane is a club legend. Even though he is a cnut.
So one questionable moment borne out of frustration is the same as multiple based on greed and having to be the centre of attention? Is that what we're saying here?
Erm, no. I said it's not the same. Like, explicitly said that. I said Scholes is still a role model, despite one highly unprofessional incident and Rooney can still be considered a club legend even though he tried to leave the club twice. I consider Ferdinand a legend, too, despite his flirting with Chelsea and his contract saga.
Many of you probably aren't fussed about the England angle but has his early return for United prompted any reactipn in that quarter? I doubt Roy will have expected to see him out there at OT and now pitentially looks a bit daft, well more than he did. Lol
A Guardian commentator caled it 'a glaring piece of treason!'
Yeah, the days of Scholes, Neville etc are probably over (even though Giggs is still playing on).
I guess it'll have to be a pleasant surprise whenever someone playing for us turns out not to be a dickhead.
Roy Keane, despite his cuntishness will always be a "great United player". Wayne Rooney will be the same. Perhaps not universally loved like Charlton etc. but his status cannot be denied.
Valencia and Evra seems like top blokes for United, and Carrick too. Valencia even sacked his agent as he had no intention of leaving. Quite unlike Rooney, who only seems to be playing for himself these days. I honestly don't care if he plays well; players like him is not what United need. We criticise and laugh at Liverpool for playing Suarez; I think they do the same towards us for playing Rooney.
Is Keane not a legend now then? when did this happen?
